Do you have any ideas for a bl4 endgame?

    • @nathanhendrickson790
      @nathanhendrickson790 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

I want the trials and takedowns to continue.
For the trials I want different objectives instead of just make it to the boss, survive for a minimum amount of time, grab 4 things and place them somewhere, make each trial different, as for takedowns I want a mechanic in the game where as long as you beat it at least once you can spend eridium to skip to the boss at the end giving people the classic raid bosses they want. I also want them to keep the creativity of raid bosses they had in 3. In two what is terramorphis other than just a big thresher with every thresher ability? What is hyperius other than an engineer with novas and a shield? Wotan was a 2 peice maliwan mech with enough fire power to level a country, and scourge yes was a roided up guardian but actually had mechanics that aren’t just shoot it till it dies, you have to shoot the explosive enemies to make him weak you have to survive the areas he teleports you to, and clear them out and get back before he regenerates too much health. As for pearls I want them to bring back arms race but as a souls like instead of a rogue like where if you die you don’t just loose everything instead it’s all out in a back pack and left at your death spot and if you can retrieve it on the next go around you get all your stuff back but it’s all gone if you die or leave before doing so and put the pearlescents in arms race so people have enough reason to go there.

@@nathanhendrickson790 Good ideas! personally I didn't really like scourge, felt like he was wasting my time with all the teleporting and needing to use the guardians but tbh, i've only ever fought them like twice since the guardian takedown is so mind-numbingly annoying to play through.

Honestly kreigs dlc in bl3 would’ve made a great place to have a vault hunter takedown. Kreigs mind could be invaded by an evil version of axton, Gaige, zer0, maya and salvador. Maybe make Gaige and death trap the boss at the halfway point then the final boss you could take on the 4 original vault hunters from bl2 ancient dragons of destruction or Valkyrie squad style.

Here's another idea, make some of the old vault hunters a playable character. Even temporarily. Like let's say there's some relic in the arms race component of the dome that's called like 'Mega meat bicyclist.' with the flavor text of 'I'VE GOT THE SHINIEST MEAT BICYCLE' and once you equip it, you can play as krieg in his buzzaxe rampage, then once the timer disappears, you go back to being your normal vault hunter.

I really like the suggestions in this video. Raid content (Traditional and Takedowns) is my favorite in the franchise. The way Gearbox hyped up Takedowns, I actually thought we were going to get something akin to one like every three months or so. Maybe that is too much to develop, but I certainly thought we were going to have more than two, especially with Randy talking about BL3 going to have the most robust end game of any game up to that point. I think that maybe they succeeded in some ways with the quality of content like Maliwan Takedown, Cartels and the Bloody Harvest, but I felt it came up short just based on raid content.

    • @Cashew1405

Bloody harvest and cartels were not fun events for me since you had to do each at the very least 25ish times to unlock new news skins, heads and gun skins. They unapologetically waste your time.

I don't have ideas for a bl4 endgame, but I've got one for a hypothetical Wonderlands sequel.
I call it "The Fatemaker Trials". It's something similar to one of those last few things you mentioned, being a combination of Arms Race and the Chaos Chambers that takes what's good about the two modes and does away with what I think doesn't work as well.
From the Chaos Chamber, we keep the partially randomly generated nature, but do away with basically everything to do with Chaos Levels. Instead of getting the same legendaries we've been getting but with an extra word added to the item card that somehow adds a fuckjillion extra damage, we get a new kind of rarity that is in parallel to Pearls that I will call "Celestines" for now, even though I have no idea how they should be differentiated. Instead of a steadily increasing damage resistance, there are enemy types and bosses exclusive to The Fatemaker Trials, as well as Champion versions of them. What's more, every modifier you accrue during a run will have both benefits and drawbacks to them; as an example, let's say you get a modifier that makes elemental puddles when you kill enemies with elemental damage, enemies will also take way more elemental damage.
From Arms Race, we take the extraction shooter elements, but unlike there, we get to keep our character perks. You start with no gear, but with access to your character class(es) with all the perks you've unlocked, and as such, while you're at a disadvantage, you're not completely helpless if you're caught with your pants down by a slightly-chunkier-than-normal swarm of enemies. Between every fifth floor (which will always be some kind of bossfight) and the next, you get taken to a Loot Room where you can pick up new loot and extract anything you want to keep. As a way to balance this, however, you no longer have a Backpack, having to store everything in your equipment slots, meaning you can't just carry a mountain of loot into the Loot Room, no matter how good it is.
As for special modes, you'd have your standard Fatemaker Trial, which is around 10 floors with two bosses randomly selected from a pool of bosses that you've fought plus some exclusive to the Trials, then you'd have Boss Rush, which is 10 consecutive bosses, also randomly selected, and then you'd have what I call "The one-hundred floors of suffering", which as the name implies is a Trial that goes for 100 floors, for a total of 20 bosses, and finally, the Endless Trial. Every floor you go down in the Trials increases the chance of a Celestine of dropping from a Boss or the Loot Room by .1%, meaning by the end of a normal run, you have a 1% chance of earning your Celestine from any of the sources you can earn them from.

My peronsal pitch is that.... Handsome Jack comes back. I'm kidding, though I do think he'd be a great way to make good endgame content without having to put too mmuch thought into it.
    Now hear me out.
Give A.I Jack an ending where he ends up in control over Hyperion, he's still trying to kill you, but he's sending you to fight raid bosses, or take downs.
But most importantly, using Hyperion, and digitech, you go through a randomly generated (sort of generic) combat arena where you progress through older games bosses and raid bosses until the end.
A.I Jack is trying to regain control over Hyperion splitting into Hyperoin and, sticking with the idea of Greek deities, could be called one of his siblings, or one of the children. Cirus, or Eos for exammple. So these takedowns could also add a PvP arena thing that Borderlands 1 had where you fight for Hyperion or Athena's faction.
I honestly think the only company worth a damn is Hyperion, they're the only corporation that became a country, it was a dictatorship, sure, but it was the only country to form since the coroporate wars and the dissoluation of the galactic governments. The very idea that the other corporations can somehow even compete with Hyperion is absurdly retarded from a lore perspective. "
As for something more generaly, I just really like your idea, and I do think it's a pipe dream as well.
All-in-all, all I actually care about for end-game, is that it makes me feel like there is still more out there in the Borderlands world, maybe in whatever events, or boss fights they can drop little bits of lore, or random dialog (like that one skull from Halo), and, most importantly to me, have the boss rush mechanic, I really think boss rush would be an absolute BANGER of idea, add anything else end-game later, if all Borderlands 4 has at launch is farming for loot and boss rushes then I'll consider it a W.

Solid video. Honestly though I have to say guardian takedown is amazing. It just has two major flaws you mentioned:
    1. Takes way too long
    2. Insta death mechanics
And what's worse is with both combined it makes it take agonizingly longer.
Just get rid of all the insta death, and God why are you forced to mob both bug areas. Technically you don't need to mob the second bug zone but you have to have access to a good amount of speed to skip the second area which not everyone has. It's the guardian takedown, not the nekretafayo bug takedown.
Malian takedown was amazing because of the pacing. It's actually action packed the whole time. And ngl I do like the crystal sections because it was unique and a lot of people didn't want to take the challenge of trying new builds, like pet and anti aggro builds to beat those sections. But I get why, it's slow pacing to stand still and wait for charge.

From super rare op weapons that required dedication to get, to bl3 dropping 30 legendaries from a single kill. I wanna point out your overdome is basically Chaos chambers. As someone that never dabbles with the endgame Wonderlands on paper sounds the best. I like the idea of the chaos levels being the reason you grind in the first place, as like a high score kinda thing. Of course needing to regrind the gear as you go sucks, and is the biggest reason I consider BL2 the worst endgame or more specially balance wise. Having to refarm your gear 10 times over sucks but also BL3 not needing to have unlock Mayhem also sucks. Chaos Gear isn't that much stronger than max level gear (in comparison to OP10 or Mayhem 10 gear) so they are on the right track. Obviously it being the only form of endgame sucks but I think just doing away with it is the wrong thing to take from it.
Also you didn't touch on endgame leveling. OP levels were too grindy and unbalanced a lot of gear, Mayhem was too binary, and Chaos levels took too long but you didn't have to refarm as often as in BL2. There is something to take from each to make the perfect system. My ideal endgame mode is keeping the idea of Chaos gear with not 100 but maybe around 25 total, and also not having them increase loot luck so its also not like Mayhem where legendary drops like flies. If there was one thing I liked about OP levels its that you only did them because you wanted too, Mayhem was better challenge wise but then the increase to loot kind of made that fact moot. BL4's endgame mode should only rank up enemy health and also only the chances for its scaled gear. This scaled gear should also not be the equivalent of 1 level, like OP and Mayhem. Getting to the max level should be theocratically possible with base max level gear, where getting them on the way is nice but not necessary.
I really like grinding once I get max level and I hate all that time is wasted if I want to engage with OP levels. Maybe instead of increasing gear with higher stats you instead "infusion points" or whatever drops that increases gear by a percentage. So instead of getting say a OP3 weapon that is functionally a level 83, every weapon has 10 infusion slots that function the same way. This would let you level your gear with you but still limit you and require you to grind at max level. Make it so that weapons in the higher levels also drop with infusion slots pre obtained so you can skip the processes if you don't like it and play similar to older games.

Wonderlands endgame is definitely not the best lmao, even on paper. The overdome idea is similar to it but the main difference being that the main Overdome arena is more side content that can help at endgame with its reward rather then it litterally being the only endgame activity.
Wonderlands had way too many chaos levels and not enough variety. It was way too repetitive to do as many times as they wanted the player to do it

I'm down for some ting being duper difficult despite great builds, requiring very specific build and teammates to beat a raid boss. Like CLOCKWORK res being actually necessary for a raid boss battle, bossing only vulnerable to splash damage or puncture damage, or only vulnerable to elemental and not bullet damage.
I found that endgame content in bl3 was missing a couple of things.
I just get one tapped by enemies mostly just because they increased their attack damage, it'd be cool to see other tweaks to increase difficulty, like a massive swarm that bleeds and does low damage.
rewards were all right. needed rare pearls drops
    and they weren't that difficult.
