    Just sharing my ideas one my favorite book series, A Song of Ice and Fire by George RR Martin. This video may contain spoilers for those of you who are not up to date with the series.
    I'm just speculating and guessing on some ideas that I have on how future events will transpire in the series. Keep in mind however, I know nothing.

    It would make sense then why the children were upset enough to go to war over the first men cutting down there trees. That would effectively destroy there ability to live on in an afterlife, if the weirwood's were all destroyed. By convincing the first men to not only stop, but also to worship them, they ensure there "imortality".

    Weirwood trees/greenseers are basically like the Grishka in GRRM's A Song For Lya. It's a hive mind where people join upon death into a collective consciousness of sorts.

    • @stevenyanis9051
      @stevenyanis9051 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      beautiful comment. I agree. the bones at the base of the tree's roots are also very reminiscent of how the Grishka devour the physical bodies of the minds they enslave/assimilate into their collective consciousness. kudos to seeing this connection. finally someone else sees the truth.

      there is also a bran chapter in which blood raven tells bran that all the crows have some green seer who long ago died with them. he tells him when bran said i warged a crow but i felt that there was someone else in there with me aside from the crow..... so may be when a warg dies near a weirwood tree they get to pass into there most favorite beast.. in some cases crows and in varamyrs it was the wolf..

      and yeh 100% grishka, but its using its weirwood nodes in all the major castles to make people fight over house names and religion, eventually coming to feed the grishka, slowly,

    Considering Hodor died under a such a tree, more or less, the weirwoodnet now has the great knowledge of Hodor, hodor, and of course hodor hodor.
    With all our hodor belonging to them the children can now destroy humanity.

    Could that be why Leaf chooses to die inside the Weirwood tree of the Bloodraven?( assumig she does it too in the books). Could that mean that Leaf didn't really want to buy time for Bran and Meera but was actually tring to make sure her soul goes to the Weirwood. We saw that her sacrifice barely had any effect, she really didn't have to sacrifice herself. So maybe the Children were being selfish again and said " f*ck this I'm going to heaven".

    • @MarkGamble52
      @MarkGamble52 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      LoL good point! I think the same is true, she didn't want to leave the cave with them. I don't think they dare to travel far from the cave/ancient tree anyways. Almost like the captain of the ship... She went down with it. It'd be bad ass if Night's King burned that tree or something crazy like that wouldn't it!?

    • @superduperfreakyDj
      @superduperfreakyDj 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MarkGamble52 Yeah I wonder if the White walkers are going to cut the tree down.

    • @MarkGamble52
      @MarkGamble52 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Freek De Jonghe I wonder if the WWs possibly have their own BR and not just Night's King running the whole show. Probably not but, that would be wild! A WW GreenSeer whispering in the Mad Kings ear and other crazy things in history....

    • @MarkGamble52
      @MarkGamble52 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Freek De Jonghe If the WWs cut that big ancient ass tree down I wonder if it'll weaken anything and also if they do cut that tree down, we will know that they mean to wipe the world clean of the living, of the Children of the afterlife/Weirwood collective and of magic

    if a second life was so appealing to the first men, why are the Stark kings buried in the crypt at WinterFell?

    • @jarvisspruill861
      @jarvisspruill861 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I am not a book reader, but Winterfell has a grove of trees . I am not sure if there is a connection or how near the grove is to the crypts, but it does make you wonder.

    • @MarkGamble52
      @MarkGamble52 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      +Jarvis Spruill I am pretty sure they are buried in the crypts and that tree at Winterfell sits over those crypts much like the cave Raven was in. When Bran finally gets back to Winterfell I think he will operate out of those crypts and that is where he will have the Lyanna and Ned tower of joy memory.

    • @darylmccann4911
      @darylmccann4911 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting but neither the show or books ever mentions roots being in the crypts and while it would be logical to think they were there, we've gotten detailed descriptions and no mention of the roots

    • @MarkGamble52
      @MarkGamble52 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Jarvis Spruill I meant buried in thise crypts for a good reason. I wanted to believe that the old Starks would have found out about the Weirwoods being of blood magic and decided not to fuck with them but it is very apparent that they mixed with the CotF and had mixed races and this is why we have the bloodlines we have now...

    • @johnhurley8918
      @johnhurley8918 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      maybe the roots of the blood tree extend below the crypt.

  • @dorsal-qb5fr

    It has crossed my mind that the old gods are nothing more than the trees and NOT meta-humans like the 7. Even if this were the case would it make "the old gods" any less real if the collective consciousness of many thousands or even millions of people exist in the network? The individuals that merged with the trees would still have desires and emotions that could very possibly be interpreted as a collective will by a greenseer such as Bran or a warg that merges with the trees upon his death.
    Bran has already shown us that greenseers can communicate directly with individuals through the trees. Osha has told us that the gods speak through the trees as well. Some followers of the old gods could serve as interpreters of the will of the gods just as Melisandre does by looking into her flames.
    The Children worship the trees and certainly have magic as demonstrated by the Arm of Dorne and the flooding of the Neck, as well as the entrance of the cave being protected. This magic has to have a source which might just be the collective will of the beings that inhabit the weirwood trees.

    • @MarkGamble52
      @MarkGamble52 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think the CotF's source of power is the blood. I think they operate with Blood Magic and fire magic like the old Valyrian tribes did

    • @arawn1061
      @arawn1061 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      dorsal 2008 i belive that the weirwoods do have power over the world, with the greenseers creating a underwater Earth Quake (basically making a tsunami) to flood the arm of dorne

    That's probably where all the memories comes from. You die in front of the weirdwood, your consciousness goes into it, your memories become a part of it. Children of the forest and greenseers can now access those memories.
    Would also probably make the cof even more pissed when the weirdwoods were chopped down. Not only are you denied an afterlife, but a library of memories vanishes with it.
    Not to mention if the people in it could still be contacted. There goes all the cof's relatives. Bye bye.

    my view is that the old gods where actually the greenseer's sitting in the wierwood throne(s) as that's who it seems northmen are praying to or who revieces the message, I also think that the others are dead greenseer's who somehow has taken the conscious out of the trees and put it into a human, kinda like you mentioned six skins does to his wolf, maybe in the same way as the show... I think this is why craster who follows the old gods considers them as such cause they literally are from the trees. this would mean that they could have learnt alot from the collective information in the wierwoods and explains why they are so powerful... would love to hear your thoughts man cheers

    • @MarkGamble52
      @MarkGamble52 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think Raven always had an alterior motive but, he was still mostly there to help Bran expand his blood/dark magic powers. I think the magic that is used now a days is only blood magic and fire magic. Ice magic of course is used only by WWs... I don't think there is anymore types of magic in the world unless a Water and Earth sorcerer comes outta nowhere in the show or the next book. Elemental magic or the discovery of would be huge. I think most magic has been wiped from the world though, by the Valyrian tribes who used blood and fire magic

    • @MarkGamble52
      @MarkGamble52 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Off on a tangent there but, I think the CotF soley depend on BR and Bran to see these things in from the Wierwood. I think whoever used to do it for them of their kind is dead and gone. So with that said I think BR was always gonna show Bran no matter what but it's not like it was that important in the grand scheme of things. I think he showed Bran some of his family's past to spark his interests and get his power juices flowing then started showing him history of the world and was going to eventually get to the different powers that he commands but Bran fucked up all the training by his terrible action.

    If someone was to destroy a Sept of the Seven then all hell would break lose for the destroyer. They destroyed a church. So to me it would be the same for the CotF they are tied to the Wierwood trees it is part of the source of their power. The trees to me may not be a source of immortality for the CotF but the trees definitely are a source of knowledge. Still I don't think that we know the full answer, and I hope the books finally give us the answer as unfortunately the show doesn't have the time to do this. Thanks for a great and thoughtful video.

    this is your best video yet. I knew the children were up to something as hive minded, telepathic slime that manipulates humans is already the plot of one of his books. I'd like to expand on your theory and suggest that maybe the children of the forest are like worker bees to the weirwood hives. we know they're experiences as individuals live on in the great collective mind, and that each is born with the accumulated knowledge of the species via weirwood network. we also know they had few numbers but long lives and had trouble breeding. the show goes further to suggest they are all female. perhaps the blood sacrifices that the trees require is then used to birth children from the trees themselves. that makes the trees the real enemy and the children mearly diversionary slaves.

    Haven't read the books, but from your description, it sounds more likely that the First Men realized both that the "Old Gods" were Children of the Forrest ancestors (or maybe criminals/enemies), and that they themselves could do the same. Thus, it was more a means of usurping CotF power, than being manipulated by them. It's just that so much time has past that only the vaguest knowledge of the subject remains.

    Jon says he saw nothing therefore there is no afterlife in Tv version? That's jumping to conclusions I say, he may not remember or, what I think, the 'gods' knew he was going to come back so he was kept in a 'waiting room', a nothingness, until then. He was only dead for a few hours after all.

    I assumed that because the memories of people's lives had gone into the weirwood trees, that is why Bran and Three Eyed Raven could tap into the collective consciousness of those gone and the past in general. Do you think Bran will be able to tap into the knowledge of the past without touching the weirwood tree?
    I like the mystery in the show because it allows us to question things like you do here.
    If there is an afterlife - why is that attractive to men or the first men. If men are all about the game of thrones, why do they have interest in an afterlife at all? How did the children seduce the first men to worship anything unless the first men saw some value in life after death or the power of the trees or gods at all?
    My theory is that Bran is the prince who was promised who holds the magic (or ability to use magic wisely once he makes some mistakes) and the memory of what gives life, takes life and preserves life. And that's why the children have gone down into the earth - because its Bran's time to restore the balance that the children put off in creating the white walkers. But if Bran does restore balance, what will it take for humanity or men to believe that life is worth preserving?
    I liked Tyrion's line to the slave traders saying 'why not give freedom a chance, you might like it' - do you need faith in something like an afterlife to not be an a-hole, kill people and take kingdoms? Or can you just say - hey - I like to live and live and have a good time without taking that freedom away from others?
    what's the purpose of gods anyway - does humanity need them to keep life?

      Great questions thete are soo many but I want to address Bran tapping into the Weirwoods without touching. I think no matter what he is gonna need a source to go off of, once he touches that source it doesn't matter he's connected but I don't think it is full WiFi for lack of better example lol... I think he has to be hard wired in first then he can stay in and his physical body can go anywhere after that. I think he will set up his next HQ at Winterfell once Jon takes it back from Ramsay. That is IF the Night's King doesn't ambush that battle first!!

    okay so I have a theory. it's a very rough Theory with no real evidence for it whatsoever... what if the children of the forest never carved the faces in the weirwood tree at all what if the faces in the weirwood trees were that of the dead children of the forest as where a child of the forest dies and weirwood Tree Grows. basically I posed to you that the children of the forest are the seeds of the weirwood tree and they get so offended by the cutting down and where would trees because those are their fathers their mothers their Elders their ancestors it would make the creation of white walkers very understandable

    I have Theory that Maybe the Blood Trees, The Old Gods, The Children of the Forest, Green seers and The Three Eyed Raven are really a Third Party in the Great Game that plays both the lord of Fire and The Great other against each other. They both Helped and fought each side at one point or another. This third God would be a sort of Gaia-like entity, that represents earth and nature. And the two other Gods fight take or court the third. while the third wants neither of them.

    Do you think that could be why Lyanna and the other Starks are buried in a crypt rather than in the ground, as Robert questioned Ned in regards too. It's too risky to even be buried in the ground in Westeros!

    This is a pretty awesome idea but I don't think the children of the forest need to die in a blood tree to become one with the forest, they are already The Forest, that's where they come from and where they must return. I also believe blood trees contain all the information of the history of the world like some cool massive hard drive and if they contain the souls/minds of those who died before them...that will only make them cooler

      THE ONLY REASON I can see the CotF teaming up with humans is because the WW threat. It is greater then the human threat ever was and I am sure the WWs have killed off a lot of the CotF... I think that the children list all of their GreenSeers so they depend on the blood lines of humans with the abilities and they depended on BR to find the next Seer for their hive collective souls in the weirwoods. I think the children of the forest use blood magic as their means to create this weirwood afterlife and like humans they too are a monster in this world.

    • @MarkGamble52
      @MarkGamble52 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think BR has made the CotF aware of the WWs intentions to wipe out the world and the reason they need Bran so bad and cannot use BR anymore is very unclear and is the bigger question I think that needs an answer

    What do you think about that theory?
    I just hope it all gets answered in the remaining books to come.

    1. Is Jaqen H'ghar the true identity of that faceless man?

    Did Hodor acted under Bran possession when he was holding the door or was it his own will to do that? That defines if it was a true sacrifice or just Bran killing his most loyal friend..

  • @brianwalsh5149

    What about the weirwood tree at the Nightfort in SoS the ''black gate'' as Sam calls it was a weirwood tree was it not? It speaks and allows only men of the night's watch to go through, it opens its mouth as a door. This shows us the magic of The Wall but also of weirwood trees, suggesting that weirwood trees could consume humans ( LOL no its more likely that the children sacrifice humans at weirwood trees), explaining the blood-sap and bones and blood magic sacrifice enables Bloodraven, the children and Bran to utilise their greenseeing abilities.Or the children are using wights like coldhands as sacrifices but seen as benjen is probably coldhands the fact that he is a stark made him useful and he was therefore spared. But maybe the wights being used makes no sense as they couldn't resurrect them without another sacrifice. So maybe they take whoever they can get who is still alive i.e. Jojen paste. Maybe the knowledge of the sacrificed victims is stored in the trees along with blood. Or some other spooky shit, I don't know just spitting out thoughts here. Any other ideas are welcome!

    • @brianwalsh5149
      @brianwalsh5149 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also the weirwood at the Nightfort had white eyes and instead of blood red sap it had tear-like sap or salty water, the same magic as the others and the wall.
