      Nah, all the people who believe that all the stories are 100% true don't really get it. In ancient Europe maps were notoriously unreliable as traders and travelers only heard and saw a tiny bit of places, their imagination and the stories they told when they returned to Europe were inflated and changed to be more astounding and interesting.
      A lot of the people commenting here are missing that, hell even GRRM has gone on record as saying the stories of these places are not reliable or accurate. The point of a ton of these places is also basically to be nothing more then a reference to other works GRRM likes anyways.
      Beyond the fact these places are probably not as crazy as described, imagine if you lived say in Yiti, and heard stories of Westeros? You would hear of a continent of a giant ice wall, undead walkers from the north, castles built on top of mines of endless gold, other castles made so high on mountains they hang in the air. a massive tower in a town dominated by it within which contains ancient knowledge.
      Sure maybe these places do have a bit of crazy stuff, maybe Asshai and Stygai really are the radioactive remnants of a pre apocalypse civilization? Maybe they are filled with crazy wizz bizz, or maybe they are nothing more then the dark toxic ruins of a megalopolis that crazy people live in. The mystery would be ruined in actually going there.

    all the far most interesting thing from G.R.R. Martin world, aside of Sothoryos, are in Far Eastern Essos (+ Ulthos) in all those uncanny eerie unsettling old places and cities: Asshai, Stygai, Carcossa, K´Dath, Bonetown, City of Winged Men, Cities of Bloodless Men, and so on. There must be some dark ancient connection between all of them, far more than the already known Lovecraftian lore influence, and even some further importance on the future. They can´t be just random oddities as that!

    • @pIayingwithmahwii
      @pIayingwithmahwii 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      you could make Westeros seem just as interesting. Here, imagine I'm a Yi-Tish scholar who has never visited Westeros saying all this: "For many centuries all the peoples of Westeros were ruled over by demon kings who took the form of men with silver hair. It is said that fire ran through their veins instead of blood, and they sat on a throne made of molten iron. But most fearsome were their dragons-great winged beasts the demons had bred deep in the bowels of hell itself, long before they emerged into our world.
      Their reign of terror was ended, though, when Baratheon-a demigod who was half man and half stag-united the brave men of Westeros and led them to a glorious victory over the silver-haired demon king.
      In the far north, past the direwolf den known as Winterfell lies the Great Ice Wall, an enormous barrier made long ago with the help of giants and forgotten magic. It is said that angels who take the form of children live in the forests beyond the Wall, sent by ancient gods as protection against their eternal enemy, the demons of ice. These ice demons lurk within the Lands of Always Winter, an evil place the Northmen believe is a gateway to the Underworld itself.
      Westerosi legends say that when the End Time comes, the sun will vanish, winter will reign, and the ice demons will throw open the gates of the Underworld and lead the dead in a final war against the living. Traders and explorers who have allegedly visited the far west of the world say that some Westerosi claim the End Time is already upon us.
      But all of this is surely nothing more than silly superstition-rumors and myths spread by the ignorant masses that have grown wilder and wilder each time a new person shares the story. The true facts about mysterious Westeros are, unfortunately, lost among the ridiculous fairy tales"

    • @lhadzyan7300
      @lhadzyan7300 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@pIayingwithmahwii of course that there is ways to make Westeros as much like it´s interesting to introduce Essos and/or Sothoryos (though this latter it´s actually interesting for Essos too), but as it´s mostly done with lore coming from Western civilization-history it´s kinda more relatable considering the large influence of it on the real world than other different civilizations matching on with the Eastern world or furtherly unknown Southern environments. Cleverly Martin made his world greater for allowing a bit of it, whereas Tolkien totally avoided it, thus being a more complex and realistic broader-lore world than other far more ethnocentric world-buildings.

      ok great I got a response..Ok I've got a question for you ScrivaTV. Have you ever seen the game of thrones 360 opening...well if you pause it and look across the sunset sea there is a Whole Extra Continent West Of Westeros, that I've never seen in any expaned world map ,and there is also the game of thrones title card/pic from the first season that has a coast line across the sunset sea that can't really be matched(without ALOT work-and that would be the one north of east essos-and that would be what-Poletos?) to any other continent in the expanded world map that can be found on the internet...so what is across the sunset sea may have been hiding in Plain Sight since season One....if there is a Continent west of westeros between essos and westeros theoretically it should be called Turtos/Turtleos... from the Native American name for North America-Turtle Continent(Americos just doesn't work on Planetos) so theoretically since South America's native Name is Abba Yala Planetos's South America analog would be Yalatos, and since Ulthos is probably like India and south east Asia, then if you took every other Earth analog on Planetos left over collectively together- Australia, Poly/Mela/Micronesia and Antartica, Just Optimize them and call them all together Optimos - ok that covers everthing that would be left on Planetos; Please if you can tell me what you think of my theories

    • @ScrivaTV
      @ScrivaTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, at least, If I'll make vids louder - there will be an option to quiet them down. Some viewers are facing issues with the volume limitations. Devices, that people are watching vids from are very different.

      Russian from Baltics region. One of the languages I speak is Latvian... not German, but it has some phonetic similarities to it, I think. There could be some influence in my accent from Latvian thus.

      Ha! I asked the same a few hours ago on a different scrivia video. I guessed it right! I asked if his accent was nordic-slavic. I thought maybe Estonian? I know a few moscovite russians but although, very similar, their accented english sounded less 'melodic'.The pronunciation of the 'V' and the 'k' sound in words ending with -ng gave it away.

    Daenerys's dragon eggs came from Asshai

    • @roddo1955
      @roddo1955 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's what Ilyrio claimed. But GRR Martin is known for his less than honest characters and their unreliable memories. I wouldn't be surprised if those eggs came from a secret passage in the crypts of Winterfell, unknown to the Starks. The lower you go in the crypts; the warmer it gets. And the theory is that a Targaryen-gene carrying individual(Jon) has the ability to revive a seemingly petrified egg but it takes a full blooded female Targaryen(Daenerys) to hatch one

    Great content as always. I wonder if light bringer is a person just like with the title sword of the morning and the part about Nissa Nissa heart and blood and Azor ahai sword seems like a sexual metaphor. What if the important part is who is light bringer not Azor ahai

    • @ScrivaTV
      @ScrivaTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it really sounds like a sexual metaphor, kind of like many myths about world creation. This one sounds though as a recreation myth, with the coming of the Darkness (Asshai Shadow?), the slaying of the lion (references to Lion of Night?). And if it is really a sexual metaphor, I fear for that lion that got stabbed.

      "Ghost grass grows throughout the Shadow Lands, being a native plant. It is an invasive plant that overwhelms other grass, is not edible, and is taller than a human on horseback and has stalks as pale as milkglass. The Dothraki believe that ghost grass glows with the spirits of the damned and will one day cover the entire world, and that is how the world will end."
      Native to Shadow Lands, but invasive in the Dothraki sea.

      Parnell07 Not all of us have the "privilege" to be born with English as native tongue. Give a chance foreign youtubers to master the pronunciation, don't be so strict. Afterall, his content is pretty good.
