Arya beats C'thulu, the great other, even the seven. The prince that was promised. The real song of ice and fire (because she literally slayed them). This is sarcasm by the way.
Try this: Lemon Cupcakes Ingredients: > 3 cups self-rising flour > 1 cup whole milk, divided > 1/2 teaspoon salt > 2 1/2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, divided > 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature > 2 cups white sugar > 4 eggs, at room temperature > 1 teaspoon vanilla extract > 2 tablespoons lemon zest Lemon cream icing > 2 cups chilled heavy cream > 3/4 cup confectioner's sugar > 1 1/2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice Directions: 1.) Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line 30 cupcake pan cups with paper liners. 2.) Sift the self-rising flour and salt together in a bowl. In another bowl, beat the unsalted butter and sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, beating each egg until incorporated before adding the next. Mix in the vanilla extract and lemon zest. 3.) Gently beat the flour mixture into the butter mixture, one third at a time, alternating with half the milk and half the lemon juice after each of the first 2 additions of flour. Beat until just combined; do not over mix. 4.) Fill the prepared cupcake liners with batter 3/4 full, and bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 17 minutes. Let the cupcakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before removing them to finish cooling on a rack. 5.) To make the icing, beat the cream in a chilled bowl with an electric mixer set on Low until the cream begins to thicken. Add the confectioners' sugar and lemon juice, a little at a time, beating after each addition, until fully incorporated. Increase the mixer speed to High, and beat until the icing forms soft peaks, about 5 minutes. Spread on the cooled cupcakes. Refrigerate leftovers.
The audio books of the series were so poorly done. Let's start a petition to have you redo them. I am binge watching your videos. I would love to figure out the actual sequence but havent taken the time to stop watching and of course listening.
He got it half right, half wrong. Nymeria is indeed not the sister of Aegon, but Nymeria is supposed to have seen the city of Yeen and said those words (A World of Ice and Fire)
So what I got from this theory is that Euron is actually a lot more important to the whole ASOIAF series then just the main conflict in the Iron Island arc of the books.
Wow! This is by far the most overwhelming asoiaf theory i've come across so far. It literally gave me goosebumps. You my friend are a true genius! The connections between asoiaf and Lovecraft's works have never been presented so clear and reasonable as here. I honestly hope that GRRM watches these videos as inspiration for his upcoming novels for they give incredible theories and plot points, that I'd love to see confirmed in asoiaf. Keep this channel the way it is my friend, because in my opinion it is the most intelligent channel on TH-cam!
I liked this video a lot. you should check out The Order of the Green Hands videos. especially the 3 part Blood Raven videos. They question Who is the 3eyed crow. I think it falls in line with what you are saying here. This is one of your best!
I second Patrick's praise for this video. This is by far the most in-depth exploration into GRRM's canon of work. The Lovecraftian mythos mingled with ASOIAF blew me away. Bravo and well done! (Standing ovation!)
Glen Cook: a high fantasy story told from the perspective of an expendable mercenary tricked into serving a dark demigoddess. The eyes of war through a soldiers eyes written by a real soldier. J RR Tolkien: a story of the last days of magic and the rise of the common man over heroes and legends. George RR Martin: a tale of human beings doing dumb human things while the world ends around them. Robert E Howard: legendary figures fight the symptoms of a far darker and more dangerous entity that lurks beyond their understanding (Kull especially). These are my favorite fantasy writers and my abridged understanding of their works. In case anyone is interested in further readings.
@@MylaCruz11He better not, otherwise George will be leaving a terrible message: the only way to achieve peace is through living in a hyper surveillance state
I like Idears of Ice and fire but I don't buy this theory. Or at least I doubt that GRRM will give us one ultimate explanation for the fantasy elements in his world. I think so because Magic in ASOIAF is strongly connected with religion. GRRM refers himself as a critic of religion, who doesn't believe that there is one final truth / correct or false in religion. When a fan asked him which ASOIAF religion he prefers he answered: ``I don't think I choose any of this gods over the other. (...) I think religion is an important part of the world and should be depicted, but I am not about to indorse one westerosi religion as true over the others.´´ (George R.R. Martin at comic con 2014). That's why I am pretty sure that GRRM won't finish his story by giving us one final explanation about the source of magic. More likely he will give us hints for many different interpretations (your locecraft theory could be one of them) and then let every reader decide for himself which interpretation he believes. This way GRRM honors the concept of religious freedom even in the creation of his fantasy world. This concept of leave the last decision to the readers also mirrors in the way GRRM writes his characters. A few examples: 1) Is Danny a fighter for freedom of slaves or a rising tyrant? 2) Was Ned Stark an honourable man or an idiot? 3) Is Arya a hero on revenge or a psychopath? 4) Was Stannis the rightfull king or just one more player in the game? We could extent this list to infinity. The point is that GRRM doesn't give us his answers to this questions. Because that are questions every reader answers by his own philosophy, psychology and experience. Like we see in the GoT forums every reader has a different opinion on every character. Just like with real persons (Trump, Hillary, Putin and so on). This is the key point why the characters in ASOIAF fell so much like actual persons. What seperates GRRM from other writers is that he doesn't force his opinion of the characters to the readers. But before I drift to much away from your theory: It could be one interpretation but I highly doubt that it will be the only possible interpretation. ( I apologise for my english it isn't my first language)
You are correct, and maybe my comment was a bit misleading. I now that most fans and theorists want to get surprised by the end of ASOIAF or want an open end. My point was more to bring up some arguments, why I think that GRRM will do exactly that and give us an open end which can be interpreted by multible theorys.
I agree man. I feel like the most mysticism that he'll delve in will be some insight as to the origins and maybe even the motivations of walkers. But as far as the shadow lands, the rest of the mentioned continents, the gods, etc, that stuff will be left open ended for either future works generated by him or another author. It's a bummer because I grew to find the war for the throne extremely uninteresting, I'm much more interested in the history of the world and the mythos, the more mystical aspects I guess. But yeah I just can't see him alluding much less explaining the entire architecture of his universe like this.
Your misunderstanding this. The Great Old One aren't *evil.* They are just far beyond us that those words have no meaning. Are YOU evil for washing your hands, or stepping on a blade of grass? We are as grass to them.
Bist du zufaellig deutscher? Ich ahne das nur wegen deine Grammatik. Deutsch ist meine zweite Sprache also entschuldigung wenn mein deutsch Scheisse ist. Ha ha.
The Five Forts is well inland though near the Bleeding Sea. Moat Cailin has black stone inland but in a swamp. Kayakayanaya though is in the Bone Mountains.
It’s described differently. The oily black of the isle of toads and the driftwood throne, the plain black of the valyrian roads and walls, the malevolent shades of distant Yeen.
excellent work. too many analyst's focus on who will sit the Sharp Seat in the end. they dont recognize the fact that this is all just a game of cosmic cyvasse. Even top tier pieces like Littlefinger, Bloodraven, Varys, Euron, Quathe...even the Singers and the Others.... are all being manipulated by beings/forces beyond comprehension. most of the events so far have occured by some grand design and all the various religions of the world will be proven to be misconceptions and/or distortions of the actual truth. i have the feeling the last two books are gonna be friggen mind blowing. i expect certain revelations and the overall outcome are gonna piss alot of people off.
the WOIAF is saturated with historical/mythological/religious/literary inspirations. not just Lovecraft. elements of Christianity, Lucifarianism, Judaism. Hinduism and Islamic lore can be found. as well as Celtic and Norse mythology. just name a few. not mention the actual historical and modern societal comparisons that can be made. PJ has made reference to this fact in multiple videos.
Is preston jacobs even active anymore? Regardless this dude has been more accurate anyways, when he got the whole white walkers being creations of the children thing right, I decided this dude is #1
IoIaF also got the children and white walker connection right, not sure who was first though. Preston has a series called "the minds of wolves and robins" that makes a lot of the same connections found in this video but it's from a totally different angle.
This is amazing. You should be doing voice acting for horror novels, because your tone and inflection are perfect for it. I literally had chills listening to this. Lovecraftian and cosmic horror terrify and fascinate me, and the connections with ASOIAF are impossible to ignore.
Man whenever that music plays I get a shiver down my spine, it just fits the mood of this universe so well! What is it called? It is so hauntingly beautiful you picked the perfect song to go along with your videos. You really have a gift for storytelling, keep it up man.
Easy, just borrow heavily from the actual world and stand on the shoulders of giants in the likeness of Tolkien and Lovecraft. Not that Martin isn't a good writer, but you give him far too much credit.
I'd say ASOIAF is more low-fantasy. Focusing on character development, man vs self, and man vs nature sprinkled with a bit of fantasy. IdeasOfIceAndFire tends to inject a lot of extra fantasy into his theories, which may be true, but it's not going to be so obvious in GRRM's writing. I'd say his story is more Braveheart than it is LOTR.
Not High Fantasy--It's Sword and Sorcery. There seems to be a push to call it something new, like Grimdark Fantasy...taking from Warhammer 40k, but I don't know that that's appropriate, either.
As a Lovecraft and ASoIaF fan, I love your videos and I find this theory truly bewitching. It's the sort of ending I would like to see for asoiaf: unexpected (both for the readers and the characters), terrifying and without any comforting moral for humankind. Besides, I find refreshing to see someone considering what Martin's influences may be, since I think that to truly understand any work you need to evaluate which are the authors or the themes that are influencing the writer, and in the asoiaf fandom this is rarely done. So thank you for all your great videos, my friend, they are clever and beautifully edited! (English is not my first language, sorry if something I wrote doesn't make much sense)
I've often thought of the Black stone being ice magic embodied, similarly to Dragonglass being fire magic embodied. Unlike the show, I think in the books the Black stone created the Others, not Dragonglass. And then of course when the two materials interact they annihilate each other like matter and antimatter. It clearly has a major role in the books, whereas in the show they've just merged the two materials together to keep things simple.
seriously bruh, when GRRM kicks the bucket before finishing ASOIAF I really hope that you just go ahead and do a fanfiction dreams of spring. you're by far the one with the deepest understanding to the underlaying complexity of the books.
I've loved your videos for the thorough treatment of the Lovecraft influences in ASOIAF. This is your best video yet! Thank you and keep up the awesome work.
That was an awesome theory, I do love how much Lovecraftian lore he included in the books. I wonder if these powerful beings sleep beneath the seas (like Cthulu), or in places like the hot springs under Winterfell (theorized to be a dragon, but could be some other powerful being). If so, could they have any connection to the phrase, "Wake sleeping giants"?
But Euron isn't missing an eye under the patch he wears, he just hides the eye because it looks weird, it's black with malice, while the eye that he shows is blue, and better to look at.
Quinn. You are the man, dude. Lol I’ve been a fan for years now and whenever I revisit your ASOIAF theory videos and I can’t help but get so hyped for Winds & ADoS. Don’t stop producing such awesome content for my favorite book series. 👍🏼
You really get "A Song of Ice and Fire"! I really like hearing your perspective on the books and the show... you understand it on so many levels. I absolutely love your videos. no one gets this series as well as you do.... Apart from George RR Martin. but thank you and you're appreciated!
Loving the beautiful art, voice over work and theories you weave through these videos. I've been subscribed to a handful of asoiaf podcasts and youtube theory videos for several months now and your videos are some of my favorites¥°
My only problem with this video is that George RR Martin is more interested in the conflict of the human heart with itself, rather than transcendental beings who control the lives of the characters.
Love this video. It drives me nuts thinking about what the larger enemy could be in the series. I think you're right about the "old ones." Everything I read seems to point in that direction. I also believe some of our players (varys) might know more than they let on.
1:30 you said Nymeria was Aegon’s sister-wife. His wives were Visenya & Rhaenyra. Nymeria was the leader of the Rhoynish who married into house Martell of Dorne and settled her people there
I really like your theories and I generally think you're on to something with this, especially the part how the great mysterious powers of the world could well be of some sinister cosmic origin. It rings true when one considers the subtle hints we've seen in the worldbuilding as well as GRRM's apparent appreciation for cosmic horror. With that in mind I kind of doubt the part where you speculate that Euron has a shard of the Red Comet in his eye that he found in Valyria. As awesome as the idea is, it doesn't make sense. One, there's no suggestion that the comet actually fell. That's not the kind of event that would go unnoticed, even with all else that's going on at the time. An impact like that would have been noticed all over the world. Second, that would imply that Euron's eye condition is relatively recent and none of the characters he interacts with react as if it is. Neither Victarion nor Asha nor Aeron remark anything that would imply that they're unfamiliar with the eye patch he wears, and I think they would have at least wondered what happened to him if he was fine before he was banished. Also, the Crow's Eye nickname wouldn't have caught on to the point everyone knows it if he wasn't like that before he left. I think his appearance is just to make him cooler/scarier. Even so, great vids, really enjoyable. Keep up the good work.
Bloodstone-emperor -> blood red eye of Euron? red commet falling down -> blood red eye of Euron?! an even grander GAME than the GoT? Dude, do you come up with these fantastic ideas at night, shaking? Because I would be trembling like a violin string! Great work!!!
Yesss! I still amazed with the new structure of your videos. the art work is fantastic! Feels like it's been too long since the last book and I've used up the musings of theories and analysis so I am so glad you offered a video about the ancient mysteries it's rarely talked about!
I love that you've pieced together the hierarchy of gods/religion in ASOIAF so soon! It's a pretty safe bet that Martin was going to add something like this to his universe when you consider that many of the best in the genre do something similar. The "song" of ice and fire is a pretty big hint at Tolkein's Music of the Ainur . Love your videos! I get the notification for when they're uploaded and immediately start planning when I'll have time to make myself some tea, smoke, and put up on a tv.
YES!! i love this kind of stuff dood keep it up! ive had a video idea that i was going to post soon that i wanted to run past you illl send you a msg this week - great minds think alike ya kno?!!
Hey great theory! I specially liked all you speculated about Euron and his booled eye. (bloodraven, blood emperor, blood eye, do I see a patron here?) I agree that gods in asoiaf seem to be portrayed more as powerful entities that are worshipped by men and opposing each other, than waht we think of as gods in RL (except maybe the seven). And although I see how everything you said makes sense (asshai always made me intrigued like crazy, and awoiaf and all that Yi Ti thing...) I don't think this entities will be the ending game, as you seem to think. For one thing, GRRM has SO MANY loose ends at this point (sure, we've heard a lot about R'hollor and the White Walkers and the children, but we don't really know anything about them) that I think introducing such a huge plot twist now would be a terrible idea. We'd end up with 30 more books (which I wouldn't mind, except George would propably die before finishing them). Really, with all that's already happening I don't know how he'd manage to tell this hole new story about great others and comets and everything. The fact that he wrote a different book to tell the story of Yi Ti makes me think we won't hear about it in the series. And secondly, I truly believe that asoiaf it's more than anything, about human nature. Not about gods and fantasy, but about people...
Or we'll get a normal story, no gods, no horror. Humanity wins after many sacrifices and we'll see in the epilogue that the gods exist and nothing is what is seems
For some reason, my mind keeps jumping to YiTi being a Goa'uld empire. I guess I've watched too much Stargate, though Naquada would perhaps explain the black stone.
Thank you for this theory ♡ I've always write my ASOIAF fanfics based on the thought that the fight between R'hllor's chosen hero and The Other's chosen hero would happen bc gods are fighting to take the world for them. Thank you for posting the video, it's nice to find and others who share the same thinking ♡
awesome video! I think you're definitely on to something with the Lovecraftian references, but I don't think these deities will ever be truly revealed or personified. I think they will perhaps be shown as 'devine forces', but in keeping with Martin limited 'on-stage magic', simply to be a loving nod to Lovecraft. the same way Jon Snows' rise to power will contain a loving nod to Aragon and Return of the King.
Best video yet man! Loved it and totally agree with you. Too many people focus on the whole good vs evil aspect and they have hard time grasping Lovecraftian type of beings. They think of God vs Lucifer which even GRRM commented on saying that his Gods are equal to each other and nothing like that since Lucifer only exists because God allows him to do so.
This is a pretty compelling (not to mention epic) theory. I'm pretty convinced you're on to something, maybe right on the money, so I look forward to seeing any other supporting evidence you can unearth to support your thesis. Great work, thank you, and I sincerely hope life treats you well going forward.
Great video, seriously. Im an aspiring author and its videos like this and the ones from Preston Jacobs and the Order of the Green Hand that inspire me to try and raise my level of story telling.
I remember someone from the show saying that the they wanted the opening to be monks around a table moving pieces on a board, but they didnt knew how to portay it, and lets keep in mind that george gave them a lot of insight of the future of the show.
"That whitch is dead may never die" is a version of "That is not dead which can eternal lie and with strange æons even death may die". I've had that as the background of my phone because personally I think it applies as much to humans as to Cthulhu (think about it where were you before you were born, where did you come from, you were neither alive nor dead and there's nothing to stop you from being pulled from the ether again).
i... i... that left me speechless. I was intrigued the whole video, but for some reason at the end when he says that the comet perhaps fell on Valyria... man, that really messed with my head. I paused the video and started breathing heavily, it just seemed so weird how it all fits together.
I'm sort of imagining Fire and Ice as people playing a vs. form of D&D, rolling turns to influence Dany's dream. Though Fire got the higher roll, which helped in birthing the dragons. Also, this is a fantastic video. Many new ideas I haven't considered.
Aren't the five forts fused black stone, not oily black? I do love the general idea though. Also enjoy the Lovecraft connection. There has to be some correlation between this queer substance that drinks in the light around it making up the entirety of Asshai and Yeen and found in the Iron islands, being referenced in the Bloodstone emporer story et cetera. Have you delved into any potential connection between Dawn, the sword of the Dayne family and the oily black stone... or at least the meteorite idea? It is seemingly magical and it's properties appear opposite in physical description to the oily black stone. And what if the Crow's Eye has just gone mad? Perhaps from drinking too much shade of the evening? I want what he is trying to do to be real within Planetos but much as wildfire can't turn one into a dragon, mayhaps whatever he is planning with his massive blood sacrifice is utter folley. It could also cause his own demise under those circumstances. GRRM does seem to be a fan of hubris after all. But then again, maybe he can actually become a living squid god. I hope for the latter and expect the former. Really enjoy your videos!
I love you videos bro. We just seen the season 7 premiere and saw reanimated Giants. I haven't heard a single person realize if there's Giants then there could be children of the forest. If so that means fire ball grenades like leaf was throwing in the episode the door. Something to think on. And keep the videos up man your one of my go to channels now
This video is simply amazing. Love your theory. It fits very well. I'm not so sure about the writter giving us a proper explanation about magic by the end. He loves the mistery and to make readers get to different conclusion from the same idea.
Amethyst Empress killed by the Bloodstone Emperor is the origin of the light bringer story. The Daynes are her direct decedents, The Sword of the Morning or Mourning. They followed a falling star, the Empress feel in death. Dany is a Dayne, her name Daen=Soldier Eyrs=Goddess, Daenerys mean Soldier Goddess. Dayne means Origin. Remember who you are. Also the Daynes blazen is a Star, Sword on a purple background. Daynes are one of the oldest houses of the Kingdom.

10:24 *At it's core exists Stygai* Just this morning I was thinking about how much of the thematic tension come from "What's really magic, and what's just *a guy* ?" Is a royal claim divinely blessed, complete with magic blood? Or is a king just *a guy* with human failings? Is the 3 Eyed Crow the will of an astral hivemind, or just *a guy* with a port wine stain? Is Varys a magician truly, or is it just *a guy* using mummer's tricks and chemical additives? What about Mel? Euron? George loves to set up cosmic horror stakes, but it always has come home to personal struggle. Human heartburn and salad dressing, or whatever the quote is. Magic exists to reflect and magnify the human themes. The cosmic magic is real, but *at its' core exists a guy.*
I haven't read ASOIAF yet but I've been watching your videos, and jesus, this sounds like the most epic novel series ever written. He's borrowed from basically everything to create a new insane merger of history, mythologies, and sci-fi-like horror into one massive story.
If I could meet one character from asoiaf, it would be Melisandre (Melony) because she is one of the only characters who has been to Asshai, and probably Stygai and all that scary stuff too, but everyone else I can think of like Quaithe and Euron are just on a whole other level, and would probably not give me or you a straight answer. but I just wanna know what it’s like, like for real. And George rr Martin said that everything that the maesters say about the other side of the world might be not 100% true, because unreliable sources and all that, just like real history. But it could be just a sorta creepy place with bad weather and stuff inhabited by cults blown out of proportion by legend…or maybe… hopefully, it’s everything and more; maybe R’hllor does exist at the heart of Darkness, and maybe only dragon fire, or lightbringer, or something next level like that can awake him, can rekindle the flame, making Asshai and Stygai and all that stuff not darkness anymore
I really wish we could've gotten more answers/ seen more of these far away, awe inspiring places in the show. when I say awe inspiring, it doesnt mean necessarily a good or bad place. Maybe well get some answers or stories in WOW and SOS.
My yeen theory is that Yeen is where the blood betrayal happened. When the amethyst empress was killed and the long night started the magic was so strong/ evil that the forest refused to return

With that voice of yours, i think you could make a cupcake recipe scary. I hope you get approached for some voice acting someday.
He does struggle with the word 'especially' though
Try this:
Lemon Cupcakes
Ingredients:
> 3 cups self-rising flour
> 1 cup whole milk, divided
> 1/2 teaspoon salt
> 2 1/2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, divided
> 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
> 2 cups white sugar
> 4 eggs, at room temperature
> 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
> 2 tablespoons lemon zest
Lemon cream icing
> 2 cups chilled heavy cream
> 3/4 cup confectioner's sugar
> 1 1/2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
Directions:
1.) Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
I think it's attractive.
Sheeeet, he should be doing book narrations. I'd pay
The audio books of the series were so poorly done. Let's start a petition to have you redo them. I am binge watching your videos. I would love to figure out the actual sequence but havent taken the time to stop watching and of course listening.
10 on the scale of dopeness 👍
Aegon's sister-wife is named Visenya. Not Nymeria.
Lemnaj Cavite He married both of them.
The other sister-wife was Rhaenys. Nymeria was the leader of the first Dornishmen when they came across the Narrow Sea.
@@matthewhearn9910 Rhoynar***
He got it half right, half wrong. Nymeria is indeed not the sister of Aegon, but Nymeria is supposed to have seen the city of Yeen and said those words (A World of Ice and Fire)
this is some weird stuff man.
Patrick Veiltl I'm glad you like the video! :)
I liked this video a lot. you should check out The Order of the Green Hands videos. especially the 3 part Blood Raven videos. They question Who is the 3eyed crow. I think it falls in line with what you are saying here. This is one of your best!
IdeasOfIceAndFire I have been trying to understand the bloodstone emperor story for a while! You rock! Thanks!
I second Patrick's praise for this video. This is by far the most in-depth exploration into GRRM's canon of work. The Lovecraftian mythos mingled with ASOIAF blew me away. Bravo and well done! (Standing ovation!)
People should spam this video to Martin's twitter or something
Couldn't agree more. The gods are playing the real game of thrones and the human wars are the red herring.
Yes! So will it be summer vs ghost? Jon going against bran??
@@MylaCruz11 I hope not!
The things is, Lovecraft took of further. He never asked that question. You did, but he did give the response: They are beyond it.
Ha ha.
is it odd to anyone else that all of this black, oily stone is so close to the seas? and when it fell the seasons where thrown into unbalance?
The Five Forts is well inland though near the Bleeding Sea. Moat Cailin has black stone inland but in a swamp. Kayakayanaya though is in the Bone Mountains.
It’s described differently. The oily black of the isle of toads and the driftwood throne, the plain black of the valyrian roads and walls, the malevolent shades of distant Yeen.
excellent work.
too many analyst's focus on who will sit the Sharp Seat in the end. they dont recognize the fact that this is all just a game of cosmic cyvasse. Even top tier pieces like Littlefinger, Bloodraven, Varys, Euron, Quathe...even the Singers and the Others.... are all being manipulated by beings/forces beyond comprehension. most of the events so far have occured by some grand design and all the various religions of the world will be proven to be misconceptions and/or distortions of the actual truth.
i have the feeling the last two books are gonna be friggen mind blowing. i expect certain revelations and the overall outcome are gonna piss alot of people off.
gotta wonder when people like preston jacobs, an american thinks and alt shift x gonna notice the cthulu story line
Vali Rusev perhaps they're not Lovecraft fans
the WOIAF is saturated with historical/mythological/religious/literary inspirations. not just Lovecraft.
elements of Christianity, Lucifarianism, Judaism.
Preston is well aware of the Lovecraft connection, it just has completely different meaning in his theory.
The greatest fictional world ever created. How can something fictional be so complex, realistic, and yet maintain the element of high fantasy?
Easy, just borrow heavily from the actual world and stand on the shoulders of giants in the likeness of Tolkien and Lovecraft. Not that Martin isn't a good writer, but you give him far too much credit.
But dan and dave somehow managed to fuck it up the ass.
Tolkien's imaginarium was better, and he was a pioneer, but this one is good as well
I'd say ASOIAF is more low-fantasy.
The black stone seems to originate in the shadow. Near the heart of darkness which is the seat of Fire
As much as I love the books, I almost dread the next book coming out. I think it might be more fun to speculate what's coming , rather than know.
Joseph Gorndt speak for yourself, I for one would like to see GRRM conclude his magnum opus
Same here. I like closure.
But then you can speculate fro a dream of spring.
Meerkatmatt2 A Dream of Spring is simply just a dream. It shall never come.
seriously bruh, when GRRM kicks the bucket before finishing ASOIAF I really hope that you just go ahead and do a fanfiction dreams of spring. you're by far the one with the deepest understanding to the underlaying complexity of the books.
Please no.
Cosmic horror is the best
I agree that the bleeding star was a volcryn. 🌍🌚🐳 🌞 🌕⭐⭐👾
😯😧😨😰😱🤯😬🤪🤡
The old name for the final book could lead into this. 'A Time for Wolves'.
Ghost is a god!
I've literally re-watched this vid 3x, well done man!
I'm too spooked too properly comment
Shpongle64 love these videos
Loving the beautiful art, voice over work and theories you weave through these videos. I've been subscribed to a handful of asoiaf podcasts and youtube theory videos for several months now and your videos are some of my favorites¥°
Fabulous my man. That was an outstanding video. Great work. This opens up the true wonder of ASOIAF for me.
My only problem with this video is that George RR Martin is more interested in the conflict of the human heart with itself, rather than transcendental beings who control the lives of the characters.
this was absolutely your masterpiece so far, well done !
So basically the gods are in this super huge cold war and the game of thrones is one of their proxy wars?
Well fuck, that's mental!
Nearly as intriguing as the Ancient Astronauts theory, but not as convoluted and batshit crazy. Fortunately.
YES!! i love this kind of stuff dood keep it up! ive had a video idea that i was going to post soon that i wanted to run past you illl send you a msg this week - great minds think alike ya kno?!!
Damn this is awesome, thank you! Love listening to you talk about ASOIAF
Hey great theory! I specially liked all you speculated about Euron and his booled eye. (bloodraven, blood emperor, blood eye, do I see a patron here?)
I agree that gods in asoiaf seem to be portrayed more as powerful entities that are worshipped by men and opposing each other, than waht we think of as gods in RL (except maybe the seven).
The gods opposing each other in real life, do you mean the gods in planet earth ? Or the present day in ASoIAF ?
Or we'll get a normal story, no gods, no horror. Humanity wins after many sacrifices and we'll see in the epilogue that the gods exist and nothing is what is seems
This is why you are the best asoiaf content creator. Incredible video!
For some reason, my mind keeps jumping to YiTi being a Goa'uld empire. I guess I've watched too much Stargate, though Naquada would perhaps explain the black stone.
NICE!!!! Excellent references for your theory Quinn. Love this. Can't wait for more.
Your voice is so soothing, and colorful.
You have no idea how much I appreciate it.
Amazing video! So glad you're back. This is one of the best videos of yours if not THE best!
0:03 Man, I can't wait for the "uncomping" Winds of Winter. xD
Seriously the best ASOIAF video I have ever seen, and I've seen them all.
Oh damn, I’m liking this, maybe we will get to know more about the comet.
the crow's eye is the bloodstone emperor come again
this puts a sinister look over the whole world and I love it :P
"Like the great other, is not to be uttered." Bars 🔥
This sounds very similar to the mythology of Elden Ring 👾
Is the Dawn Emperor the Lord of Light? Would he be an incarnation of something like Azor Ahai? Excellent video man.
Thank you for this theory ♡
I've always write my ASOIAF fanfics based on the thought that the fight between R'hllor's chosen hero and The Other's chosen hero would happen bc gods are fighting to take the world for them.
Man i love your videos so much... You and Smokescreen are my favorite ASOIAF/GOT youtubers ...
I love it! I never thought about the connection between blood eye and the bloodstone.
Crazy theory!!! I like it a lot. I've always thought Euron wasn't putting all of his cards on the table
Why does Yi Ti look like medievel China?
It's based of there, just as king's landing is based off 18th century london
Great video, seriously. Im an aspiring author and its videos like this and the ones from Preston Jacobs and the Order of the Green Hand that inspire me to try and raise my level of story telling.
I remember someone from the show saying that the they wanted the opening to be monks around a table moving pieces on a board, but they didnt knew how to portay it, and lets keep in mind that george gave them a lot of insight of the future of the show.
dude... you literally are the best! thank you for all your videos!
Awesome video!! So glad you're making more. Such an interesting theory!!
Westeros squidbillys confirmed
Good stuff. You've been a big inspiration for me with making my own videos. Thanks for everything Quinn.
And keep the videos up man your one of my go to channels now
Brilliant. The bests ASOIAF theories I've ever seen.
This was worth the wait. Thanks Quinn!
The thing about the Euron eye! Damnnnnn this is good
Thank you for uploading a new video,...I love your ideas of ice and fire,..it's been too long,.please make more...more often!,..8),.you have amazing content and a great narrator that reads as if he's remembering how his elementary school librarian would read to the students,....keep up the great videos man!
Best unified theory ever.
Best.
Ever.
10:24 *At it's core exists Stygai*
Just this morning I was thinking about how much of the thematic tension come from "What's really magic, and what's just *a guy* ?"
Is a royal claim divinely blessed, complete with magic blood? Or is a king just *a guy* with human failings?
Is the 3 Eyed Crow the will of an astral hivemind, or just *a guy* with a port wine stain?
Is Varys a magician truly, or is it just *a guy* using mummer's tricks and chemical additives? What about Mel? Euron?
George loves to set up cosmic horror stakes, but it always has come home to personal struggle. Human heartburn and salad dressing, or whatever the quote is. Magic exists to reflect and magnify the human themes. The cosmic magic is real, but
*at its' core exists a guy.*
I haven't read ASOIAF yet but I've been watching your videos, and jesus, this sounds like the most epic novel series ever written. He's borrowed from basically everything to create a new insane merger of history, mythologies, and sci-fi-like horror into one massive story.
I have suspected this from some after seeing the patch face and asshi Video great video! :)
If I could meet one character from asoiaf, it would be Melisandre (Melony) because she is one of the only characters who has been to Asshai,
and probably Stygai and all that scary stuff too, but everyone else I can think of like Quaithe and Euron are just on a whole other level, and would probably not give me or you a straight answer.
but I just wanna know what it’s like, like for real.
Welcome back. I've missed your vids and input.
Aegon's sister wives were Rhaeneys and Visenya not Nymeria😭😭😢
Great video to break your hiatus !
Blown away, awesome video!
My yeen theory is that Yeen is where the blood betrayal happened. When the amethyst empress was killed and the long night started the magic was so strong/ evil that the forest refused to return
Lovecraftian mythology is horrifyingly fascinating love it
You are a genius and your videos on this content are still BY FAR the best and most thought provoking. Jacob Preston lost me a long time ago spending hours being sarcastic about frustratingly bad content. But you just glaze over the mess and give us good shit to keep us moving through the dark night til, not the next rubbish season of shit film, but George’s next book!!! Love you, stay amazing, sing for us more please!!
since comments below are great I first subscribed to this chanel and now I am going to put volume hi close my eyes and see where this story will take me......
Incredible video, love your channel!
Awesome video man I like ur take on it, well done
you truly make superior quality videos.
