Just sharing my ideas one of my favorite book series, A Song of Ice and Fire by George RR Martin. This video may contain spoilers for those of you who are not up to date with the series. That goes for the HBO show and the books.
I'm just speculating and guessing on some ideas that I have on how future events will transpire in the series. Keep in mind however, I know nothing.

Shireen is a desendant of the Storm King who stole a princess from the sea. Makes sense that the sea would take revenge by doing the same. Good theory!
But it is a legend. It did not really happen.
@@Robert-ov1wi sometimes legends are usually misinterpretations of real events. What if many thousands years ago, the ancestor of the Baratheon lineage actually kidnapped or killed a princess of the deep ones. What if Storm’s End was built not as a defiance to the gods, but as a fortress to keep at bay the sea people who tried to rescue her or as a simbol of the surface people dominance over the sea.

Really interesting theory. It's made even more interesting when you factor in the fact that during the Age of Heroes, King Durran Godsgrief, the first storm king, married Elenei the daughter of the god of the sea and goddess of the wind. The Baratheons said to be descended from the Durrandons through their female line. So maybe the Drowned God (AKA God of the Sea?) needed Patches to bring him one of his own female descendants?
"Clever bird, clever man, clever, clever fool!" It's also an insult. Patch Face is telling the Maester that his intellect is on par with the bird. lol
The bird is smarter than other birds - it's established that when this happens Bloodraven is usually involved - if you take into account what Patchface says afterwards "The shadows come..." it certainly seems like he's being very forthcoming with the bird. One magical puppet to another, in regards to R'hllor's arrival to Dragonstone.
The line may also be taken to mean that Patches thinks himself smarter than both the man and the bird. The both get one clever, he gets two.

Funny how some people can't tell the difference between the show and the books. The show's already gone way off the rails into fanfic territory.

That's true, but the burning of Shireen came from Martin, not D&D. In the "inside the episode" video HBO released they say how horrified they were when they first learned about it."
So is every adaptation that doesn't completely follow the original material considered fan-fiction to you?
since i read the books so long ago, it is getting hard to tell the difference between what happened in the shows and what happened in the books. its like some sort of mangled dreamlike mesh of stuff
Up until season 6, the show was an adaptation - it took material from a source and adapted it for another medium, making omissions, new inclusions, and changes where necessary (or where they believed to be necessary). Now though, the show is not adapting anything. Unless you consider GRRM's 'broad strokes' a source to be adapted.
So if it isn't an adaptation, what is it? ... It's two guys making shit up, using characters from a book that was written by someone else. Yes, it is still the official HBO adaptation, but what I just described is basically the definition of fan fiction.
Patchface is like Pennywise. We all float down here.
Tidal Gardens don‘t forget that Patchface is a jester, a clown himself. The Character of Patchface was probably loosely inspired by Pennywise.
And a pile of Lovecraftian association's on top of that.
Never mind anything by Stephen King or HP Lovecraft. Once you are done with the Song of Ice and Fire, you are sleeping with the lights on and the closet door closed. If you're sleeping at all.
All we need now is for Junji Ito to do a manga of it.
Seriously you're videos give me chills. The music, the dark topic, and it's all on point. Patchface IS super creepy. There's something off about him. I know I know...
Also to add, it's wouldn't be the first time Martin has shown conflict between men and creatures from the sea. In "Guardians" from Tuf Voyaging, it's the main plot point.

They won't reveal it straight away, they'll sneak in a few glimpses of his gills or something a week or two prior.

reading the comments it seems people dont get that the show is so far gone from the books its unreturnable...please people separate the two ..i think thats what quinn is getting at
you are absolutely correct sir. as much research and picking apart not only George's books but his inspirations the show has painted me I often I find myself taking notes it's really hard to separate the two sometimes I know the struggle but you're correct it takes a lot of discipline

Aren't the Baratheons supposedly descended from the Storm God, who is the enemy of the Drowned God? If so, then taking Shireen might be for more than the King's blood in her veins.
They have have Durrandon(Orys married the last storm queen) blood and the founder of the Durrandons, Durran godsgrief, married the daughter of the sea god and the wind goddess. Storm and Sea.
Solid content. Patchface has always been so perplexing to me. I'm excited to see what's up with that little dude.
So, there's a point in Cressen's POVs that reminded me so much of a dialogue between Varys and Littlefinger - not any one in particular but just one they might have, not aligned in goals but sharing idle information in which they both be interested. It's when the white raven reaches Dragonstone and begins to talk in the presence of Patchface. Pathface says "Clever bird, Clever man, Clever Clever Fool" - I interpret this as Pathface saying that he knows the bird is 'clever' because its strings are pulled by a 'man' - Bloodraven, naturally, he says 'clever clever fool' to let the bird (bloodraven) know that he too is a puppet of sorts. Then, afterwards, Patchface says "The shadows have come to dance my lord, dance my lord, dance my lord. The shadows have come to stay my lord, stay my lord, stay my lord." - He says this out loud but I believe it was meant for the bird, for blood raven. Informing him that R'hllor has found sanctuary on Dragonstone. Intrigue among the Gods? I have no further theory, this just stood out to me.
Every now and then I come back to this video just for the creepy vibes. Well done!

What if... What if Shireen is not a Baratheon? What if, in Selyse's desperation to give Stannis an heir after so many stillbirths, she made a deal with the deep ones(or Patchface)? What if that isn't even greyscale she has, but is transforming, JUST LIKE in Lovecraft?

she has the Baratheon look, black hair and blue eyes, which she could only have gotten from Stannis, she's even said to have his square/large (can't remember the exact word) jaw, the only thing she seems to have gotten from Selyse are the big ears of the Florents, the rest of her screams Baratheon

George has clearly mentioned that there is homages to Lovecraft in ASOIAF and after reading "The Shadow over Innsmouth" recently where this theme is central - People in a cult sacrificing people to breed with fish creatures, I do believe that there really is something sinister about Patchface, both his references to shadows and the fact that Melisandre openly states that she senses darkness about him. Very interesting if George ever develops this further but I don't believe there is enough room in the last two books of the series.
Coastal habitations and island settlements would have myths and stories about mermaids and people under the sea just like cultures in our own history but the ones closest in symbols and religion seems to be the Iron Islands but also the Manderlys that have mermans and tridents as their emblems. I don't think Patchface will steal Shireen down to the sea but the reference to there actually existing a race down in the deeps is fascinating.

Patchface was my favorite character from the books, and I'm sad he didn't make it into the show. He was just so goddamn creepy, it would have been great in the show.

I have a theory. I believe patchface with his wit and cleverness made some sort of deal with the drowned king while he was dead. Almost like the seventh seal when he plays chess with death
I believe some secrets and creatures Martin will always keep ambiguous. Maybe patchface will take Shireen and drown her but we won't get to see the deep ones. Or maybe Shireen gets burned as in the show, so patchface gets furious and goes back to the sea or kills himself very far off the sea (because he can't fulfill the deal anymore). For the reader it will then be equally possible that he made the deal with the deep ones or that he is just crazy.
It's a great theory however. Music, topic and your portrayal make it a very nice little horror story. I always read patchfaces rhymes in a witty, silly way. Not so dark and hoarse as you did here^^
I always thought Patchface to be innocent, before you know it, Weasel from Clash of Kings is a servant to the Black Goat of Qohor

Brilliant video. There's definitely more to Patchface's riddles and songs than you'd think at first glance. Although I don't have any alternative idea, isn't it a little far fetched to assume that the deep ones want the iron throne?
The feeling I get from that idea is as if you would had proposed that the children wanted the iron throne. It feels out of character..

I doubt that there is enought of the book left for this to come to fruition, however just a thought about another possible player in the game is awesome.
This is why I love you! I'm too simple minded to notice any of this stuff. It seems there are a lot of sub plots to the story that we have to decipher.

I love this because if Mallisandra (sorry if I spelled it wrong) was very afraid of Patchface, then it works in that she made Stannis sacrifice his daughter. I will admit, I love the show. But they completely neglected the Lovecraftian elements of the books which were some of my favorite things about the book series (most of the things dealing with the Drowned God like Patchface and how they butchered Euron Greyjoy’s character).

Isn't there a tale from the Age of Heroes about how the the first Storm King Durran Godsgrief married the daughter of the Sea God, Elenei? This seems like Durran abducted a mermaid and sired children with her. According to the legend he waged war upon the Gods after they killed his family and guests and ultimately built Storm's End with Bran the Builder's help to provide a fortification against their powerful magics. If we are to believe the tale, then abducting Shereen Baratheon could be a way of the gods exacting a revenge.
