    Thank you for sharing! I would need to baste, or I’ll end up having to take it apart. I’m a seamstress, but new to quilting. I’ll definitely try this quilt!

      I use an Elmers Glue Stick for all basting.

      I'm not sure, sorry, Kaye passed in July of 2019, and this video is at least 10 years old.

    I was watching this & enjoying learning how to do the center of the dresden plate, when you wasn't there? Did you do a part 2 to finsh up? I been trying to do a king size quilt for myself useing this pattern. Only thing is I can not find where anyone tell the size to make the center plate & then the half dresdens? Anyone wonts to speak up & help, PLEASE do so. I start this last night thinking I was making the dresden plate big enough, after watching this lesson on the Dresden Plate. I not sure . I already did the small 2 dresdens & the large center plate. Any help @ all . Please & Thank You Sharon

    What if we don't have a fancy computerized sewing machine? I have a very basic sewing machine, with no computer. If I want threads cut, I need a pair of scissors to snip them. I'd love to own a fancy computerized sewing machine, but not all of us can afford them....

      All you need is a straight stitch to join pieces. Hand-stitch and/or hand-embroider in place of Kaye’s decorative stitch.

      Nana, we all want something better on our machines, don’t we? I want one with one of those big screens! But you don’t need it to be a great sewer. You don’t even have to go to classes to learn because you have pros like Terrye, Nancy Zieman, and others to teach you everything. If they teach you for free, they are the ones to learn from. 💕 p.s. I like your dog picture💕

      I made the dog drawing with a black coloring pencil (not a drawing pencil) many years ago. It is based on a border collie photo that appeared on the cover of a National Geographic magazine. Since border collies are usually black and white, I challenged myself to do the drawing using only the black coloring pencil, and that was the result. I am glad you liked it. My sewing machine is a 34-year old Pfaff Hobbymatic 917 with just basic stitches, but it has served me well in all those 34+ years. I sew my own clothes and have sewn for my children and now for my granddaughter, but I had never tried patchwork and quilting. But I am learning from people like you, Karen Brown (of "Just get it done quilts"), Donna Jordan of Jordan Fabrics, and others who have so lovingly shared their knowledge so people like me can learn to do quilting. I meant no direspect, and apologize if it sounded harsh. But I must confess that the video sounded a bit like "you need this machine in order to do this"; thus my comment. I subscribed to your TH-cam channel, and hope to see other projects that you come up with.

    So where is the B&W pattern that's on the wall?

    • @jampubs1
      @jampubs1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Each blade of the fan is pieced with 2 fabrics.

      It's actually dark green and cream, and is the Dresden Plate pattern that Kaye is demo-ing.

    I'm sorry if I misunderstood ... your Dresden looks nothing like the ones on the wall like you showed us at the beginning of this video !

      Just use 2 pieces in whatever combination you want. Stitch the 2 pieces together and press. (Open) then I lay the center of my Dresden ruler centered on the sewn strip.
