    Cool that you figured that one out. I bought the same style of turbo/manifold last year for my Ranger CR TDI build. The stock US turbo has the exhaust facing the front of the engine, and the turbine/manifold are a single casting. Asked around for ideas on TDI club, guys were telling me to buy a Malone or similar kit which would set me back nearly 4K. Figured they would have used the same engine on some EU RWD Audi applications, and they did. Think I paid C$400 on ebay for the turbo and manifold to my door.

    Ordered the fitting. Will order manifold after I figure out why wise is in a un ending loading session for my card.
    Then need turbo and the other stuff. I assume for an Alh if I use a adapter plate like you did I need a exhaust gasket meant for this turbo or car it came off. Then weld plate to my exhaust down pipe with appropriate holes drilled in it for studs on turbo.
    Stock manifold to engine gasket will work between the BHW manifold and engine

      @TDISwaps  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You got it! I actually don't even have a gasket between manifold/turbo and turbo/downpipe flange, they seal well

    Got a good question,
    What kind of software computer stuff does a person need to set anything on this engine, or do you need it at all, had asked on another video, I’m still schooling
    Thanks man

    • @TDISwaps

      There are a lot of tuning options actually but most of the good ones are $500-1500. There is some free stuff but it usually gets downloaded with a bunch of viruses lol. But just Google EDC15 and 16 tuning software to see. Vcds is also needed, and even more stuff for immobilizer defeating.

      I'm definitely torn about doing compounds, we will see how this turbo works first. But being my wife's daily I'm not really wanting to make it anymore prone to issues than necessary haha

    • @stephenhilton4665
      @stephenhilton4665 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @TDISwaps I'm telling a compound would stop any lag give more power. And you would have to go to the edge of the turbos power

      @TDISwaps I'm trying to learn how to do this swap in my ranger I have a 2.0 tdi and a 1.9 tdi. The kit is so freaking expensive

    • @TDISwaps
      @TDISwaps  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @stephenhilton4665 ya the problem is this turbo will have 0 lag, and backing off the top end power would keep from maxing out this turbo and that's all the wife needs. I get how much better a compound setup would be, don't get me wrong.

    • @TDISwaps

      Ive never messed with turbo blankets, maybe I'm missing something but most of what I've read showed very little benefit in the real world.

    • @RW1LD
      @RW1LD 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@TDISwaps it's a CHEAP add on, but theres a reason why racers wrap pipes. Keeps the heat where it needs to be, fewer losses to keep the heat / pressure up in the short distance its traveling. Engine bay will be cooler too, less thermal cycling delta on the turbo but thats debatable. Still, I have my ALH manifolds totally insulated in the engine bay and it IS cooler opening the hood after running.

    • @TDISwaps
      @TDISwaps  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well part of the reason I've never done it is the turbo is so small I've had a hard time finding anything small enough to fit it. But my engine bay is so huge there's very little heat kept inside to start with

    • @RW1LD
      @RW1LD หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TDISwaps idk why im just now getting notifications on this, but the blanket isn't to cool the engine bay, but to keep the heat in the pipes. More heat = hotter air = more flow as the air is thinner. More speed on the hot side = more pumping on the cold side.

    • @TDISwaps
