      @@darkdanish9809 You've probably already seen it, but chronological order doesn't improve the show in any way (it stops being an anthology after season 2 pretty much anyway). But it is fun to see the little attentions to detail, such as why Yoda is on Toydaria in the very first (and probably worst) episode of the show in the first place. Even the crappy episodes ultimately end up paying off in some way. The worst arc imo is with the little green guy when they have all the astromech droids and they get lost on a salt planet... BUT we get introduced to Gregor and the clone commandos as a concept, and we find out that Gregor survive order 66 and the empire and is living with Rex in rebels. Patience is required to get the most, but the pay off outshines the movies in some parts

While in the show you can actually feel and see some of the decisions that make him lean closer to the dark side. How much in-fighting he had with the Jedi. How his rage can sometimes take over rather than in the movies its played off as just inexperience and naivety.

      I love the clone wars but this guy is uncultured. He doesn’t appreciate the excellent arcs in season 1 (not saying it’s the best season but that doesn’t make it bad when all the other season set such a rediculously high standard). Also the prequels were not bad, there were certainly flaws in those movies especially 2 and kinda 1 but episode 3 was amazing and in the context of Star Wars the characters actions even Anakin make sense even now that we have the Clone Wars. Again I am not saying there are no issues with the movies but I found them generally great movies.

      @katleon312 3 ปีที่แล้ว +130

      Seriously though, in my opinion the major issue with the prequels wasn’t the storyline or the acting. It was the appalling dialogue that sort of made the scenes awkward. Many people blame Hayden Christensen for acting badly and too awkwardly but I think that he did his best with the script he was given. Besides, Anakin is supposed to be awkward especially in Attack of the Clones. In Revenge if the Sith, I believe that he was meant to be more conflicted so his whining sort of makes sense, however looking back at Clone Wars Anakin, there’s no competition between who is the best. They’re two different interpretations of him.

    This show also makes "Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith" have actual weight and pain to it. Watching Anakin evolve, how the war shaped him and his views, showing why Anakin and Padme work so well together, etc better explains his actions in the movie. Everything from how heartbreaking it is to watch Obi Won and Anakin fight to even the more mundane things, like why Anakin would be ticked about being denied the title of Jedi Master--since he's one of the most successful generals in the war. It's all there and even though the dialogue and vicariously the acting is still painful, your personal, emotional investment now exists thanks to this show. I can fucking go on and on about how much I love this show. Yeah, watch this show. Fall in love with the real Anakin Skywalker.

      personally i still do not like revenge of the sith. note anakin was somewhat justified in killing dooku since he couldn't be taken prisoner in a million years based on their situation, less justified in killing those sand people but they did kill his mother (note it explains his reasoning doesn't justify his actions in killing the sand people), however killing children and innocents, trusting a sith is better than the jedi (even though the jedi are fairly flawed it is like saying i hate the hypocrisy of the U.S and join nazi germany), and putting so much faith in an unclear vision that you indirectly cause it. And did this guy really think padme would never find out much less forgive him for the countless people he's killed. Also under the emporer he condones and in fact bolsters with brute force the slavery of multiple species including wookeis (given he's given in at this point the transistion just doesn't work). The primary issue is anakin's process in thinking the darkside could possibly save padme. And why the hell did anakin even remoltey 100% trust sidious? Like WHY? He could've left the jedi order just as ashoka did.

    • @heatherwills3404

      @@ravimanne8148 I agree. Most of the movie is bonkers in the leaps of logic and the complete lack of any angle that would make sense in motivations. I only meant that Star Wars Clone Wars creates Anakin as a fully fleshed-out person with both good and bad parts. In the series, he makes a lot of choices that the Jedi frown on, but normal people would consider commendable, like not giving up on Ashoka when it was believed she died or risking his life with his men, valuing every single clone's life, and feeling real emotion and empathy when any of his men died. (Which considering how much he valued life and wouldn't give up until every option was exhausted to save people, what he did in episode 3 is even more WTF?) The SWCW series allows the viewer at least some type of real emotional connection and regret when Anakin falls to the dark side. That's all.

    I honestly feel like the first episode, "Ambush" is really good for setting the tone of the series. I was hooked the moment where Yoda had the squad remove their helmets after they expressed they were all the same, so he could address each of them as individuals; you could see right there and then that they were treating the Clones as actual characters, rather than nameless troopers as the films did. Plus, Episode 5 of season one "Rookies" is good, since Echo and Fives get a lot of screen time throughout the series.
    The Clone Wars was great because it solved the most major issue I had with the prequel trilogy. The time skip between the start of the First Battle of Geonosis and the middle/end of the Battle of Coruscant was extremely jarring. So much obviously happened between those two films. With the Clone Wars, we see what happened. And getting time to see why certain background characters were actually important was pretty cool.

      While I do enjoy Rebels, I totally understand why people view it poorly compared to The Clone Wars. Even though it is made by the same people the story telling is completely different. Nearly every arc of TCW had a neatly written story that really seemed like it could have been a mini movie with an obvious beginning, middle, and end. Rebels on the other hand has more drawn out stories but still has good climaxes and endings. For some reason it just seems like the writers are forced or encouraged to fill episodes with not very important content and pepper in main story elements throughout which really puts a hurting on the pacing and a lot of people's enjoyment of the show.

It shows how the council betrayed his apprentice, how he grew jealous of the guy hitting on Padme, his hatred towards the slave traders, his anger towards ventress interrogating and threatening her, it showed how the council didn’t trust anakin by keeping obi ones secrecy of being alive etc.The clone wars is a masterpiece to be quiet frank. I’m very glad its back and i hope Disney doesn’t force any nonsense to be added into the already finished seasons. Disney better leave Dave filoni alone and let him do his magic. The movie has aged badly granted but it walked so the series could run, it’ll always have a place in my heart for making me love Star Wars. While Return of the Jedi will forever be my all time favourite film both in Star Wars and in general, the Clone Wars is my favourite media of all time and the greatest saga in Star Wars (in my humble opinion).

    Coming back to rewatch this is always so funny when Marcus just INTENSELY asserts that "this fixes what YOU hate about the prequels" and that the creators "hated the prequels", because of the fact that a large amount, perhaps even a majority, of clone wars fans are prequel fans and both Dave Filoni and Sam Witwer have spoken in detail about the things they love about the prequels. You can't really make an entire show about the mythos and lore surrounding the prequels if you hate them

    The part about Clone Wars not being made by Lucas but people who really didn't like the prequels could not be further from truth. Lucas was constantly guiding the team, and the main guy behind the wheel was Dave Filoni, who talked very positively about the prequels in multiple interviews. He's a fan of all things Star Wars. From what I gathered, he just wants to make good stories within the universe he loves.

    • @thchippie
      @thchippie 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was actually Lucas that killed the EU. Disney is actually doing a good job of pulling A LOT of stuff in from the EU. Which might work out well. The EU wasn't exactly coherent. For every good story there was something else incoherent, contradictory, or flat out bad because they weren't a team of writers working together, and anyone could write something for the EU.

    Watching RotS after The clone wars makes it feel like how I think Lucas envisioned it to feel. You can actually understand the emotions running through Anakin's head a lot better, you get his conflict, you feel the betrayal he feels from the Jedi, and you can simultaneously feel the betrayal Obi-Wan feels at Anakin's turn. Also, the Jedi Purge is so much more emotional after spending time with so many of the characters and just seeing them get offed like that. And how it was the muthafuckin clones who did it all, after watching them interact with their generals for so long. It makes RotS actually feel legit.

    • @tomasclutterbuck2038
      @tomasclutterbuck2038 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      W01fTamer but how can you piece Ahsoka into it? How can someone as extremely important as Anakin’s padawan even fit within RotS? How can she even fit after surviving SW Rebels? I really hate her character’s very existence and I’d be more inclined to get into the show if she didn’t exist

    • @W01fTamer
      @W01fTamer 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Her addition into Rebels fucked her character overall. In TCW she leaves the Jedi Order to discover her own path after some bullshit happens that solidifies the flaws of the Jedi ideology in Anakin's mind. It actually works really well to give more of a reason for Anakin to hold a grudge against the Jedi, by both their personal attacks against his padawan, and by exposing their flaws to him in a much more obvious way, making his turn more believable. So, in the way she was written out of the show in the later seasons, she makes Anakin's turn more realistic.

      @@tomasclutterbuck2038 You'd find out if you actually watched TCW. I felt the same way at first, and really didn't like her character either, but she really grew on me as she developed over the course of the show. The final arc of season 5 explains why she isn't present in RotS (or, well, part of the reason why at least) and is one of several storylines that make Anakin's distrust of the Jedi Council and his eventual fall more believable. If the show had run for the full 8 (I think?) planned seasons, it would have run right up to the start of RotS and explained a whole lot about why Anakin is the way he is in RotS, and where Ahsoka was/how she survived Order 66.
      SPOILERS:
      Some really bad stuff happens at the end of season 5, and Ahsoka ends up leaving the Jedi Order. Anakin is deeply affected by this, and his trust in the Jedi Order and particularly the Council is hit pretty hard (not for the first time). Due to some things that happen in season 6, Captain Rex eventually discovers the truth about Order 66 some time shortly before RotS. He isn't able to warn anybody in time, but he does barely manage to save Ahsoka's life when the order goes out.

      Peter The problem with the prequels is that they hardly show the fall of the Jedi Order other than becoming generals in Episode II. In the Clone Wars, they always bring up how they used to be peacekeepers but the war has warped not only their purpose but their outlook. Episode I should’ve made the Jedi Order less paranoid and restrictive and then developed them into the infant-recruiting, hardcore anti-Sith warriors. Or they could’ve mentioned at some point how the Jedi Order had changed since the ancient Sith Wars. I get George wanted to model it on organized religion and especially the Catholic Church, but it makes it seem like the Order’s fall was entirely the fault of the Jedi Religion and not the individuals within it. Going off the prequel movies only, I completely understand why Rian Johnson gave Luke the outlook he had.
