I agree. I would make it a PG style of Evil Dead 2. It's bloodless with mild violence. The monsters would be scary but it doesn't forget it's original cartoon's essence and humor. Think Adams Family meets Beetlejuice. Maybe develop each gang as fully developed characters and what they go through their lives outside of solving clues, like make them feel like real and likable teenagers. (Or college kids.) Scooby's design would also look EXACTLY how he did in Scoob (2020) since he looked perfect in that one. Unlike the 2000s films where it tries to be dark on purpose, this would be dark FOR a purpose. Very much like Zombie Island come to think it. People say they want a R rated reboot in the same tone as Riverdale and making Velma and Daphne gay, but idk, Scooby Doo was always harmless and meant for kids no matter what, even Zombie Island was still for kids just fine and having it mega-dark like Riverdale would be unintentionally hallarious for how serious everyone would be and could potentially damage the series if it's official.
the costuming potential is so big honestly. like mixing the iconic looks of the characters with the trends of the time to give them a varied but still recognizable wardrobe would be so fun
The main thing that drew got wrong with the timeline was assuming it was all one universe. I believe that the scoobyverse is a series of parallel worlds.
When Jenny Nicholson talked about the scoobverse confusion she said something like “no one knows and it doesn’t matter,” which is how I choose to think about it now lol
I honestly have no trouble believing that, in a universe where putting on a cheap ghost mask makes everyone think you're actually a ghost, that a dog could dress like a human and everyone thinks it's a human.

You needed to be told that fictional characters, existing on a page or tv screen some of which were created years before you were born will still exist after you die, and this gives you some sort of existential dread?
I am severely disappointed that there was not an outro with dancing, that would have been so unique, and never done before. edit - fine I'll change the spelling error and ty for the likes lol
My theory: Scooby and the gang met as children and while solving a case, a mysterious force had split the gang into multiple universes in different timelines and they have to find eachother again and solve crimes to come back to the original.
Some fun facts I learned while my toddler is going through a Scooby phase: - There’s actually 3 original Scooby openings: one that says “that’s a fact” that gets played in the opening, one that doesn’t, that’s played at the end in the first season, and another sung by a British band in the second. - Scooby Doo’s name came from some Frank Sinatra scat improv where he said “Scooby Dooby Doo”. - Scooby IS named after Scooby Snacks, not Vice versa. - On the subject of Scooby Snacks, they are NEVER stated to be dog treats in the original series. - “Meddling Kids” is only said 10 times in the original series, and Velma only loses her glasses six times. - The gang is only children in 8-10 shows/movies, and adults in the rest. - In the original series, Velma and Shaggy are dating in the first season, and not in the next, and Fred and Daphne are dating throughout. - William Hanna and Joseph Barbera (of Hanna-Barbera fame) have stated that they always believed the original flavor of Scooby Snacks is Butterscotch Carmel.
I love this, isn't funny how we basically become experts on certain things thanks to our children's obsessions :p Also I remember reading a book that had a recipe for scooby snacks and it was cookies for kids and i think they were that same flavour they were so good :)
I am genuinely surprised that Velma and Shaggy are dating in the first season of the original show. I'd never heard that before and I've been a fan of Scooby-Doo my whole life 😅 I was under the impression that the only incarnations of Scooby-Doo where Velma and Shaggy had a romantic dynamic (and both times it ultimately fizzles out) were _The Mystery Begins_ live-action prequel and the _Mystery Incorporated_ cartoon. As for Daphne and Fred, I thought they were only explicitly romantic in the much more recent incarnations of the 21st century. EDIT: After doing some research, I have found that Velma and Shaggy also have a romance (resulting in a son) in the _Scooby Apocalypse_ comics. However I still cannot find any indication that she and Shaggy were ever romantically involved in the original series, _Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?_ 🤷🏿♂️ Is it possible you are thinking of the first season of _Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated_ 🤔? The two of them were dating at the start of *that* series, but that came out in the 2010s.
You're just the expert I need to consult; Concerning the recent animated movie, Scoob, I thought it strange that Shaggy was the one to adopt Scooby Doo. Granted, it's been a really, really long time since I use to watch the old cartoon, but I swear the old Hanna-Barbera lore was that Scooby Doo was actually owned by Daphne (just Shaggy and Scooby Doo hung out a lot)
This is going to sound stupid but hear me out; in the 2010 hit series Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated they explain the different timelines and stories and plot holes between series. In the last couple of episodes that turn into an absolute fever dream you find out that the Scooby Doo universe is canonically multiverse and has multiple different timelines running alongside each other.
Mystery Incorporated was the best! My absolute favorite episodes of any of the Scooby Doos ever are pretty much all in this series - particularly the one where Scooby has the fever dream about the convention where all of the Hanna Barbara mystery-solving teens get kidnapped and the mascot / side kicks have to save the day.

It was indeed very good. I love how they incorporated Supernatural being a show with lots of deaths and dangerous ghosts without ruining the innocence of Scooby Doo characters.
Naw you're right. He's the strong leader of the group. Fred is the guy that sets the team out on mysteries, give them direction, and wraps it all up with the traps. It's an underrated role but without Fred, it's very possible that the mystery gang would have no direction.

fun fact! most kids movies end with a musical number bc back in ye olden days in theatre, the cast would come on stage for an encore as a way of separating the story with the actors, specifically after a tragedy play. and that tradition has been carried on through out cinema. not so much anymore, but that’s why a random musical number has been a kind of irrelevant staple in cinema lol.

I'm glad he mentioned Zombie Island. That Scooby Doo movie still holds up today, for sure. I'd argue that it is the scariest movie in the Scooby Doo universe, because it is the only one where real people die. The ghosts are real people, who died violent deaths. They even explain to the viewer how the deaths happened. It is truly morbid. It is also a true classic and a great movie to watch anytime, kid or adult.
I love how every movie before that was "oh well the supernatural phenomenon was all actually the work of succession of people using special effects to fool everyone" and then Zombie Island comes along and it's suddenly "GHOSTS ARE REAL AND YOURE GOING TO DIE SCOOBY"
18:40 seeing this part of the video after season 2 of Velma got announced is like finding an ancient slab inside a ruined town that details it's downfall
The reason Scooby thinks a human is attractive is the same reason he can talk and people can understand him. It's also the reason they must quench his hunger by feeding him nonstop. Because he is a malevolent spirit trapped inside a dog. All their mystery seeking and ghost chasing led them into something dark and inexplicable... Now it's too late and they must live with the consequences.

I’ll never get over them firing the voice actors so they could hire a new cast of celebrities. Voice acting is often Underappreciated but watching scoob vs mystery inc the voice acting suffers, they’re not bad but they’re not the same. One of my favorite things about this franchise is that they usually keep the same voice actors.
I HATE how movies are prioritizing big named actors over actually skilled professional voice actors. However, the voice acting in the franchise has changed hands a lot (except for Frank Welker, the absolute beast.) Given it's as old as it is, this isn't really that surprising, but changing actors definitely isn't unprecedented.

"It's not like Fred is always carrying them - he just drives them places" oh my gosh hahahaaha. To be fair, I preferred it when Fred was 'the traps guy'. One of my favourite jokes with Freddy was in Mystery Inc when he was caught reading a 'traps magazine' with a pretty model on the front by Daphne (when he wasn't supposed to be thinking about traps due to obsession eg. always thinking of traps, choosing them over Daphne etc) and he says "Uh... I was just reading it for the articles!!"
I think Velma is the crime lord over every bad guy because she always says she knew it all along but she doesn't say a thing about it till the gang catches the bad guy.
The fact that there's no mention of the BEST Scooby Doo movie: Scooby Doo and the witch's ghost!! The one where we met the hex girls. They were the BLUEPRINT for alt kids in the 21st century
I haven’t seen Scoob, I just find it kinda unintentionally hilarious that Simon Cowell was in that scene because Scooby and the gang were initially thought up to be a band who solved mysteries when they weren’t playing shows. Kinda like an Archie band that REALLY likes haunted houses
Let me explain this a little actually. Archie’s Weird Mysteries was an riding off the fame of X-Files (AWM aired from 1999-2000), but as a result of inserting the Archie gang into that scenario, the show ended up feeling like Scooby Doo but with Archie Characters. It’s a very strange but charming cartoon, but probably not something anyone who has no sort of interest in Archie would care about. I know this is hours later but I realized not everyone actually knows Archie’s Weird Mysteries off the top of their head, just wanted to add some clarification from a huge Archie geek
Fan theory: the Scooby gang has multiple origin stories that all exist in superposition, because somewhere in the animated movie universe where they meet real supernatural threats they got a *real* curse put on them and are doomed to meet and solve mysteries for eternity in all possible realities.
I’m so glad you mentioned Mystery Incorporated, it’s probably my favorite iteration of Scooby Doo! It’s just so well done, with a great balance of drama and comedy, and I love how it has one giant mystery linked throughout the show

Well, it's not only one character, it's just named after one character while also changing everything that made the show good and just decided to be "oh I hate it when this thing happens in shows and movies" while doing that thing and thinking that would pass as comedy.
His review of Velma would just be weeping.
Velma? How about Scooby-Don’t?
Okay but a live-action “period piece” of Scooby Doo set in the 60s could genuinely be so cool.
Omg, yes! I would drop money on that SO fast!
People say they want a R rated reboot in the same tone as Riverdale and making Velma and Daphne gay, but idk, Scooby Doo was always harmless and meant for kids no matter what, even Zombie Island was still for kids just fine and having it mega-dark like Riverdale would be unintentionally hallarious for how serious everyone would be and could potentially damage the series if it's official.
ah hell yeah that would be so cool

My theory: Scooby and the gang met as children and while solving a case, a mysterious force had split the gang into multiple universes in different timelines and they have to find eachother again and solve crimes to come back to the original.
Honestly tracks since I think multuple universes are cannon
I like the mystery incorporated ending, which also talks about multiple universes
Well, the final issue of Scooby-Doo Team-Up confirmed the multiverse part so...
Some fun facts I learned while my toddler is going through a Scooby phase:
- There’s actually 3 original Scooby openings: one that says “that’s a fact” that gets played in the opening, one that doesn’t, that’s played at the end in the first season, and another sung by a British band in the second.
Love this I did knw some of them Im old so I love all the episodes from the 70s the new ones my kids like but nothing like the original
Cool but it’s called caramel, love you!
You're just the expert I need to consult;
Concerning the recent animated movie, Scoob, I thought it strange that Shaggy was the one to adopt Scooby Doo.
In the last couple of episodes that turn into an absolute fever dream you find out that the Scooby Doo universe is canonically multiverse and has multiple different timelines running alongside each other.
wow.
@@tmaxgo6696 I guess that explains why 2018's Daphne and Velma look like extremely bad castings in a lesbian Scooby parody...

I read that as Freud and i don’t know how I feel about that
traps?
I love Fred as the trap guy it gives him something to do
@@babyturtleshoe8451 Yeah! I hate it when they make Fred into 'dumb guy number 2' when they could hone in on the traps thing or him being 'the leader'
For a character who can so easily be written as one-dimensional, it's always really nice for there to be some flair to add personality.
Matthew Lillard is an outstanding actor in almost every role he plays
his performance in slc punk is one of my all time favorites

I think Velma is the crime lord over every bad guy because she always says she knew it all along but she doesn't say a thing about it till the gang catches the bad guy.
The fact that there's no mention of the BEST Scooby Doo movie: Scooby Doo and the witch's ghost!! The one where we met the hex girls. They were the BLUEPRINT for alt kids in the 21st century

At this point, Scooby Doo is the Fast and Furious of the cartoon world
16:00 I was in such a haze watching this video and hearing one of my favourite songs made me snap out of it real quick that’s so cool
Drew is secretly creating a cardboard cutout army, and he’s trying to cover it up by acting as though the cutouts don’t like him
I'm imagining Drew having a terracotta army-esque like tomb with all of his cutouts. The archaeologists will be fascinated.

"old man rants about cartoon" and "he returns" are top tier descriptions.
I love chapters
I remember watching "a pup named Scooby-Doo" when I was little and loved it. It was probably my favorite out of all the scooby doo shows
That show was fantastic!
I haven’t seen Scoob, I just find it kinda unintentionally hilarious that Simon Cowell was in that scene because Scooby and the gang were initially thought up to be a band who solved mysteries when they weren’t playing shows. Kinda like an Archie band that REALLY likes haunted houses
imagine that being the moment they stopped being a band
You mean like Jabberjaw or Josie and the Pussycats?
So like Riverdale?
@@MuscleManRandySavage nah more close to Archie’s Weird Mysteries tbh
Let me explain this a little actually. Archie’s Weird Mysteries was an riding off the fame of X-Files (AWM aired from 1999-2000), but as a result of inserting the Archie gang into that scenario, the show ended up feeling like Scooby Doo but with Archie Characters. It’s a very strange but charming cartoon, but probably not something anyone who has no sort of interest in Archie would care about.
I know this is hours later but I realized not everyone actually knows Archie’s Weird Mysteries off the top of their head, just wanted to add some clarification from a huge Archie geek
Fan theory: the Scooby gang has multiple origin stories that all exist in superposition, because somewhere in the animated movie universe where they meet real supernatural threats they got a *real* curse put on them and are doomed to meet and solve mysteries for eternity in all possible realities.
that would be in scoobynatural
@@uncannyvalley2113 Don't you even speak that crossover into existence, chile...
@@NovemberXXVII what? it already exists
@NovemberXXVII oww man they turned them into psychos
This is technically canon since at the end of the Scooby Doo! Mystery Inc. show the universe is reset
If you don’t talk about the ART that is the late 90s/early 00s movies (zombie island, witch’s ghost, cyber chase, etc). THE scooby doo era
So basically Velma's personality for the first half of 'Daphne & Velma' was Mindy's inspiration for 'The Velma Show'
I’m so glad you mentioned Mystery Incorporated, it’s probably my favorite iteration of Scooby Doo! It’s just so well done, with a great balance of drama and comedy, and I love how it has one giant mystery linked throughout the show
It was great that's what I loved about it. Saw it on Netflix a few months back
And all of the straight to DVD movies. I loved Abracadabra Doo, Zombie Island, The Witches Curse, and the other ones. Really fun and cool movies!
And yeah, Mystery Incorporated is my favorite Scooby iteration also
