      Could you do me a huge favor and tell me where you got this workflow from? I've been to 2 studios that are doing the same thing, and it's actually - no offense - pretty bad. I have a feeling it's Arnold's or Maya's crappy defaults, that no one is learning about

    Awesome tutorial, so hard to find that information! But how would you export and plug a displacement map?

    • @JoshAntonio
      @JoshAntonio  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'll be making a detailed tutorial on displacement maps soon. In the meantime: Exporting wise you should get a height map with the PBR export so you'd want to use that map for the displacements. Plugging a displacement map in, Arnold has great documentation for all the parameters. docs.arnoldrenderer.com/display/AFMUG/Displacement hope this helps

    Don't forget to uncheck Flip R Channel and check Flip G Channel in the bump2d node attributes if you are using a DirectX Normal texture :) Uncheck both when using an OpenGL Normal texture

    • @JoshAntonio
      @JoshAntonio  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, I’ve got a video on how to setup height/displacement maps. Also a video on what the benefit/disadvantage is of using one. These videos should help you get on your way. As for emissive I could make a tutorial for that, but you’d probably find easy instructions in the Arnold documentation.

    Awesome!! Short and to the point. But my question is i see theres an Arnold option under the configuration along with other options. Whats the difference between using the method you demonstrate in this video as opposed to using the Arnold option ? I've seen a few tutorials that make use of that selection when exporting out to arnold in maya.

    • @JoshAntonio
      @JoshAntonio  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can use either. Both options will give you all the PBR textures tiles you need for rendering.

      @@JoshAntonio thanks for your timely response. Now I do notice that I dont get that "metallic" export texture when I select the arnold preset. Is it necessary when trying to create a metallic object ?

    • @JoshAntonio
      @JoshAntonio  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, If you're trying to create a pure metallic object such as a Iron Sword, then you could probably get away without using a map and setting the metalness value to 1. However, if you wanted to introduce more complex shading such a rust, you would most likely want to use a metalness map. This could be an interesting read for you: docs.arnoldrenderer.com/display/A5AFMUG/Base I hope this helps.

    *Can you please tell*
    When we import object in substance painter.... It will only take Lambert material.... But not Aistaderd suface..... *can we import object in Aistaderd surface in substance painter*

    • @JoshAntonio
      @JoshAntonio  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Assigning materials to an object in Maya before importing into Substance will create a new Texture Set in Substance for each material. That’s the same for if you use Lambert or an AiStandard material. Although you can paint PBR textures to use with Arnold, you won’t be able to work with Arnold shaders directly in Substance.

    Hello for some odd reason I can't plug metallic node to the top dot just like you, even if I drag it to the panel on the left.

    • @JoshAntonio
      @JoshAntonio  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Martin, if you're using the Alpha for the information, make sure 'Alpha is luminance' is checked on the file node and drag the 'Out Alpha' into the top dot. If you're not using Alpha, then you'll want to drag one of the RGB values into the top dot. You won't be able to drag 'Out Color' as the shader is expecting one input and 'Out Color' has three - I usually just use the 'Out Color R'. Hope this helps!

    And to do you tick alpha luminance for all maps except base colour?

    • @JoshAntonio
      @JoshAntonio  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah aiNormalMap will work and I'd probably reccomend using it. If you're maps use the alpha for the information then you will need to check Alpha Luminance. I believe it's only for black and white maps; so roughness, metalness etc. Therefor you won't need to check it for the Normal Map.
