Key Account Management is an awesome profession that compels one to grow personally and pursue professional excellence. This is a great video, thanks Warwick.
I love that, Tshidi! And it's so true! It really is a great profession. In fact I just did a podcast episode called 15 Reasons Why It's Great to Be a Key Account Manager. You can listen here: www.thekamclub.com/podcast/029-023
Glad it was helpful! I really wanted to explain what it's REALLY like to be an account manager in the field and how your time is spent, so I'm really happy you found it useful. What led you to the video - were you searching for something or I just had the good fortune to find my way into your suggested videos?
I am a progamme manager and exploring key account manager position . I tried some books to get some basic sales and marketing knowledge however the blah, blah is just off putting A Quick search in TH-cam and found the crash course. Your video’s are awesome and underrated. You should be on a TED talk. 😊
Awww thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate it and am so glad you enjoy the videos. I agree - they're underrated! Probably because I'm so bad at publishing. If I was putting out content more regularly - I'm sure things would be different. I plan on changing that with a more reliable and frequent schedule.
Thank you so much for this video, it is the best I have ver watched. You used percentage which is brilliant, Im high functioning nuerodivergent and this jus drew a clear picture for me.Thank you :)
Glad it was helpful! I think it's a good reminder of where we SHOULD be spending our time and that list is great way to refocus when you find yourself distracted by things that don't really add value (or doing other people's work for them!! A pet peeve of mine!)
Definitely that our organisation has far too many internal meetings. I spend 7.5 hours per week in regular internal meetings and another 7 or so planning and delivering training or catching up with clients. Is it any wonder I am chasing my tail 😅
I'm so glad. There's a lot of things on the list that don't get talked about much but show what a busy (and important) job account management really is.
Hi Maria - I sympathise - and I've been there! I actually haven't done a video about this so I'll add it to the list. But I HAVE recorded a few episodes of The KAM Club Podcast that might help: 🎧 How Key Account Managers Can Overcome Internal Conflict 🎧 Top 10 Ways Key Account Managers Can Avoid Overwhelm at Work 🎧 25 Problems That Stop Key Account Managers From Doing Their Job 🎧 Can't Keep Up? 15 Ways to Simplify Your Work Just search "The KAM Club" or these episode titles in your favourite podcast app and you'll find them.
Everything look fantastic but what about ad hoc task, in business everything change constantly, so i think that normally KAM could not plan their day to be sure with that on 100%
You're right; there's always some unpredictability in any job, including being a key account manager. While it's impossible to plan every minute, I try to make sure unexpected tasks still fit into the main focus areas of our role. For example, if your boss asks you to do something last minute, that could fall under "Internal Alignment". But if a task doesn't seem to fit anywhere, it be worth considering if it's really your job or if someone else should handle it. Thanks for your comment!
Thank you for your honest feedback! I'm glad my video could help you gain some clarity about the role. Key account management isn't for everyone, and it's great that you're able to recognize what aligns with your interests and strengths. There are so many diverse career paths out there, and I'm sure you'll find one that's a perfect fit for you.
