Hi Dan,that was indeed a great Video. As a woman in mid of my family life who is passionate about restarting a career needs lots of courage and valuable guidance to face the corporate world again. Am glad I feel more confident after watching the video. Thak you !! Am sure I'll get through my interview positively.
If you have come here cos you are going to attend an interview (today or tomorrow in the present or future), I am wishing you all the best!!! You got this !!!
I used Dan’s exact script. I wrote everything down and practiced for a few days before my interview and when it came I nailed it! I could see it in the interviewer’s eyes. Once I ended by asking ‘is this along the lines of what you’re looking for?’, it was game over. Got offered the job less than 24 hours later and higher salary than what I expected. Thank you Dan! You taught a man to fish.

I came here searching for copper but I have found gold instead. :) Thanks
Tell Me About Yourself 1. Not Your Life Story but What Value Could Your Bring 2. Be your Best Self - What's in it for them. 3. The 3 S's - ✅Success - "I have been...." or "My Background is..." ✅Strength -"My strength is..." or "my real strength is..." ✅Situation - "What I am looking for is..." Is this what Your company is looking for? Action: I need to memorize it and say it many many times and repeat it many many times so it comes across very very natural.
I don't get that. I understand they wanna hire a good worker. But what values can I bring? What can I do for the company? I never once thought "Let me go apply here. I'll show them how to be humble, sincere. I'll make this a better company. If I'm applying fur dishwasher why you ask me what I can bring to the company I guess clean dishes. My point is there is a right question for the right job
1. The 3 S's •Success e.g. "I have been___" or "my background is___" what are you good at? •Strength "my real strength is___" •Situation how do my strengths apply to the new opportunity "what I'm looking for is___" and at the end ask a question "is that what you're looking for?" 2. Memorise some kind of script, practice, rehearse it so it comes across very natural.
Those "blunders" you don't think you need are used by tens of millions of professionals around the world to provide you all the things you love to use :)
I used this script exactly the way Sifu worded it. Many of my interviewers commented on this and they appreciated the clarity and conciseness I offered them with this one answer. And it was because of following his advice, I am able to sign my job offer letter as we speak. Thank you so much, Sifu. You are more impactful than you think.
Thank you a million, I actually have an interview this morning, my very first job interview. You just got a new subscriber 😁 Edit: I got the job, again thank you : )
Memorization is the Key. When I was applying in call center in the Philippines, I failed 3 times. I keep on researching because my communication was very poor.I remember, the day before my interview, I rehearse everything. We were 13 living in 1 apartment with my friends who failed many times aswell. 1 of my friend said, Why are you rehearsing?? why do you need to memorize?? it should be comming from your heart..! I just ignored him.. Guess what?? Out of 188 applicant that day, only 18 made it and I was one of them.. 11 of my friend failed including the person who questioned me for rehearsing. Dan Lok is right. You have to practice it many times and when you alreadt memorize it, feel and talk like you are talking from the heart.Just talk slowly, dont make it fast. The interviewer might not understand your accent.
Earlier this week, I was called for an interview. Due to scheduling issues, I had my interview the very next day via Zoom (barely 15 hours prior notice). I used this video as well as his other interview videos to prepare. This was the first time I felt confident in responding to "tell me about yourself." The interviewer even told me "very nice" after I said my spiel as outlined in the video (I didn't end with the question because I'm not THAT confident 😂). At the conclusion of the interview, they told me I wouldn't know a decision until 2 weeks later, but they ended up offering me the position two DAYS later. Thank God I found this video!! I'm extremely grateful 😊
I had an interview a little over a month ago and watched this video the day beforehand. Preparation is so important, especially if you’re the type of person that gets nervous during an interview (like me). Taking the time to thoughtfully prepare my answers to common interview questions made a huge difference in how I conducted myself. I’m happy to say that I landed the job and I’ve been there for a month now. Thanks for the advice Dan Lok :).
I have been called for an interview just after 12 hours. This is going to be my first interview experience and after watching this video, I feel confident that I will win the hiring manager. Update : I got the job ❤ Thank you Dan Lok Sir
Everything you taught is correct. I would just like to add that most interviewers at the end will ask, "Do you have any questions for me? " Your answer should always be "yes" Ask questions like, "How long have you been with the company and how do you like working here? " followed with "What made YOU interested in this job when YOU applied? " I have several more, but my point is, this shows you have genuine interest in the company. It has worked for me every time so far.
The Ultimate Fidget Spinners, ASMR, Reviews, Comedy But if you ask that to the ome who interviews you... isnt that too personal? like... why would u ask me (the hiring manager) how long I am in this company?
JPao P. Not at all. I've been told before that I was hired, simply because I was the only candidate who asked questions. It shows a genuine interest in the company.
My questions are always related to the job and the company's product or services. Like when I apply as an artist, I asked if the company is the one who takes the photo of for the brochure or they hiring it outside same with the advertisement.... something like that.
You nailed it. Normally in interviews you are in answering mode, you have to stop and think about how to not only answer every question truthfully but in a way that puts you in a good light. Asking them questions that they have to answer personally puts them in your position, difference is you can drill behavioral interview questions and they can't drill your questions. My personal favorite is "What is something you know about the job now you wished you knew when you started working here?". It allows them to subtly clue you in to the more difficult or non-obvious parts of the job, and at worse it throws them off balance and gives you a few seconds to think.
Guys if your are scared about the questions asked by HRMs, such as "About Yourself", "Weakness", "strength.." "Hobbies" etc. Just remember that these HRs are just asking you a recursive question, as they don't have the knowledge to ask you anything else. They just need your help to start a conversation with you. So when ever you go to an interview with any HR, treat it like a regular conversation. And with the answers of these recursive question, you have the power set direction of the whole conversation.
*“Tell Me about Yourself”* _question gives you a great opportunity to spotlight the experience and skills that make you the ideal candidate for the job._
This is golden advice. Came upon this 1 hour before the interview and learned, rehearsed it briefly, right at the end of the interview the hiring manager immediately gave me the offering. Wow just wow.
1 What value you could bring 2 Be Your best self 3 The 3 S Success I have been ... Strength My strength is ... Situation What I am looking for ... *whoever asks a question control the situation Lastly practice your script so it will come naturally.
I'm really sorry and I feel you, Jose. I used to stutter a lot when I was a kid, and there's one way I managed to almost stop my stuttering 100%. By reading aloud., a lot. It may not seem like a big deal but it worked for me and was a life changer. I hope you can do that as well!
be precise with your words.. try to say in less words with great impact and practice more "Be the best of you" not others who don't stutter good luck brother
Guys I`m 19 and since January I`ve had countless job interviews for big Corporates, all failed and Tuesday another one, hopefully I won`t fail, but please don`t give up cause if you don`t fight for yourself then who will?
I’m 19 as well man. My first interview, I bombed. They told me they’d tell me about the status of my application in a few days, then they ghosted me. Never heard back. Second interview went flawless. CTO said to me that they were still going to listen to the other candidates and will get back to me in a few days. She actually got back to me within 3 hours offering me the position. You totally got this man (and to anyone else reading)! Never give up.
I watched this video multiple times and practiced on the things I want the interviewers to know. It all comes down to your confidence after preparing HARD and the interviewers CAN FEEL IT!! AND I GOT THE JOB!!! Believe in yourself and you can do this!
This was the first question that I was asked on my first interview, I jotted down what you said and added a few sentences, I got my second interview, I browsed again on your videos to prep and 2 days later I was offered the position! Thank you so much!!!!
I have severe social anxiety and in 3 hours I’ll be going through my very first job interview ever. I am shitting my pants mortified and cried last night, also only got a few hours of sleep, I have never felt this scared before but I’m going to try my best. This probably isn’t smart but for my first interview at least I’m going to have some notes so I can remember what I want to say during specific questions. I will keep you updated on whether I got the job or not. Wish me luck, I’m going to need it. This is truly terrifying. Update: I was told I did good on the interview but I did not get the job.
remember when i applied for my very first job abroad , my english wasn't good enough, so i made an script and practiced 100 times with the hope the interviewer would ask why am i applying for that company and position and Bingo succes !!
In my recent job interview I talked about past experience how I handled difficult situations which is similar to the position I applied for. What I said was quite random, then I ran out of things to say because I don't know what else to say. I had been talking about my experience and some of my skills for some time. He was there like quiet and just keep listening. What annoys me was he didn't response or anything. Eventually I ask my interviewer "Can you be more specific about the things you want to know about me?" (Not sure if I should have directed this question to my interviewer, but I did it..) Then he said "nothing much, just a break the ice question". The conversation goes on for a little while and before I left, he said "there is a good news for you, you are hired!" Well, kind of surprised. That's why I'm here to check what I said that triggered my interviewer to hire me on the spot. Kind of get the idea now. (Successful achievement in the past, not about personal life) Thanks Dan Lok for the cool tips and advise 👍
"Tell me about your self?" is such a tricky and vague question asked by recruiters during an interview. The problem is that interviewee does not know what it actually means and no one teaches you about such things in life. Whenever a recruiter asks this question it gives you a feeling like he/she has not gone through your resume, so you start rambling about your personal life and achievements. I believe it is not the interviewee's fault, the question itself is not appropriate. I think that recruiters should ask straight-forward questions, so that candidate knows what is being asked. Why play with words, confuse the candidate, and expect a magical answer. Funny thing, when recruiters went for their first job even they didn't know what this question actually meant. So, be humane and ask proper and clear questions. Recruiters should not try to be smart_ss and should not expect fakeness from candidates as well. However, Dan Lok has given wonderful tips about answering interview questions. So we should take them on board. Also, I like to thank Dan for sharing his wisdom and experience.
Why not. You must prove yourself that what written their is true and valuable. To be honest i sometimes copy words from other resume. also Imagine thousands of applicants they screening and its better to talk to the person as it tells their true personality. Pls note self confidence is important and a lot of values that you need to show you are worthy
Exactly. Today they asked me to introduce myself. In my mind I was thinking, well haven't you gone through my resume/CV? Should I tell my name which is already there or should I tell you my qualification which is again there or should I tell you my age which is irrelevant or should I tell you my whole story why I am here for this job? There is no guarantee that the interviewer is better than an interviewee. What if the interviewee is technically better than the interviewer in some of the aspects. What if you can not express yourself how good you are? I have seen many people who speak/communicate better but they have no good idea of the topic. They just use their communication skills to disguise their fakeness. This does not mean they are actually better. But for 5 min of the interview, they seem perfect. But from another perspective, it's normal to ask this question. Because the interviewer thinks this is the best way to initiate the interview. Also, they were asked the same question in the past while they were interviewed. It's inside there mind and they ask the same question to us. Think it this way, what would you ask or how would you initiate the interview if you were the interviewer? In general, everyone will do the same. But I really do not want to answer this question. And the point is, this is not even a question and this is technically the most senseless statement.😁😁 How can you judge anyone in 5 min? At the same time, there is no any other best way too. oops, this is complicated. This really is complicated, man. I hate job interviews. I wish I never had to face any interviews.
@@sebakoli6781 If you do not like interviews then you should think about working for yourself. I mean self-employment, freelancing, or starting a small business. About the interview questions, some silly things have become the norm and almost all the interviewer ask similar questions. If you formulate your answers and practise them; there is a great chance you will get the job. However, still, if you do not get the job, sometimes a closed door is a blessing in disguise. Failure gives you the chance to get up again, brush it off and try again. So never lose hope and keep trying again and again. Your time will come and you will shine.
*F* in the chat, people, I think we lost her in battle. Her courage shall always be remembered, she gave it all and received it none. _Rest In Peace,_ soldier X'( ...
I always presume they mean in a work-relevant way, so I replied very politely "Honestly, I'm a person looking to have a long term career with a solid stable large company, and I already understand putting twenty years of my life into something. I already understand issues involved in running a business and I understand the value of reliability." Must have been a good answer, 2 years later I'm still there and happy.
i think being asked about yourself is the hardest question to be answered.. unless you really know about yourself.. i barely know myself and it scares me..
They're not interested in what you are as a person. They're interested in your work history. For example: I started as a physio in a hospital where I was responsible for.... I did that for x months... One of my biggest achievements in that job was...." Hope that helps!
@@royal3161 Sorry to break it to you mate but it really doesn't. I speak to a lot of recruiters and they unanimously said they don't care about your personal life.
I rather underestimate myself and overdeliver, rather than overestimate myself and get fired for not living up to expectations. If you talk all high and mighty about yourself and as you begin getting used to the job, you're at your weakest and most vulnerable state. From that first impression you will be identified by your initial amount of competence you display from your first tasks.
I’ve been honestly answering this question with my personal information such as first and last name, age, studies🤣🤣. After watching this video I can begin to imagine the laughs of the managers after interviewing me at my expenses 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Bad idea. Microsoft's CEO looks for two things in interviewing, clarity and energy. Answering the question in that way makes you look like you need direction in a conversation. Using the videos example of a vacant social media manager position, if an interviewee responds that way the interviewers may feel that you can't represent yourself or your skills without direction. If you can't sell yourself to the company, how are you meant to sell the company on social media everyday? You as an interviewee should be trying to show an understanding on how to be successful in the company and how you bring value as a hire. Anything else is irrelevant in the confines of an interview.
This was literally the first question I was asked during my job interview today, thank you so much for this amazing advice, I practiced yesterday and it took some of my nervousness knowing I was a bit prepared - and they noticed I was!! Good luck to everyone here preparing for their interviews, if I as a newbie could do it - so can you!! Practice really helped being more confident, too!! Xx
Hey Jessica, could you share your experience with me ? Cuz i’m not a native speaker but i have to have an interview the next week in English. So I’m looking for people with who i can practice my English.
Even with 10 years of work experience I find interviews anxious. Something that was seeped into me by others at an early age saying "i'm not good enough" but its videos like these help me a lot, thank you so much.
Same. People try to help me. Be more confident becuase they'll hire the more confident guy etc. But its just who I am. I've put myself in situations I hate like doing briefs and talking infront of people to get over it and Nope nothings changed 😂 I got anxiety problems deep seeded from child hood...
Thank you Dan Lok. Since I used this script of yours, I received positive responses from the interviews I had. Now I enjoy collecting and choosing which employer I'll invest my time and skills. This video and your script so powerful. Uplifted me to proceed in my search when I was on the verge of quitting.
True. From what I got out of Lok's video is just a framework to answer a successful "tell me about yourself" question which is pretty much what you hit on the head.
My friend sent me your videos and I watched 3 of them. I cannot believe how much you influenced my outlook on being interviewed. I just finished an interview that I was worried about. But I went in there with such confidence and faith in myself that I am elated at how the interview went. I don't know if I will be invited to move to the next step, but I feel great anyway. Thank you so much. And now I am going to take my friend out to lunch.
well that will depend on what the job was. There is a small percentage of jobs (lower scale jobs) that that answer will suffice. But that was not the only question you were asked I expect.
Tell me about yourself interview 1- not your life story what are you bringing to the table/company 2- be your best self what you say must tie it back to the job - wiifm. not me me me me. S - success : i hv been.... i specialize in...tell about results S - strength : my strength is... S - situation : what i am looking for... 3- do not panic
My biggest takeaway was "So when you are in front of that potential hiring manager, you are ready to go" THIS IS KEY. I am not actively looking for a job but I will be in a few months. This is what got me the role I currently have and I will continue to pursue higher-level roles in the near future. Elon Musk Tweeted "Stop being patient and start asking yourself, how do I accomplish my 10 years plan in 6 months? You will probably fail but you will be lot further ahead of the person who simply accepted it was going to take 10 years" this is so powerful and you Dan Lok have the ability to help people get to that point. Thank You!!
Stop viewing an interview as an interrogation, whether a professional conversation. Stop thinking it’s an auction, don’t degrade yourself in your mind like that. You are interviewing employers just as much as they are interviewing you, if they don’t have what you are looking for, have the integrity to respectfully walk away if you are not in a desperate situation, because believe me they will do the same vice versa. Utilize the depths of your vocabulary. I may not have always been offered the job, but I never fail to make my mark with my interviewing abilities.
I was attracted by the confidence in his eyes when he speaks (although it can be intimidating in real life). I used the formula and practice a lot before my final interview. The formula is very helpful in term of structure and flow, that leads the listener to continue to listen. I landed the job and couldn't be more confident now. Thank you very much, Dan! Greetings from Finland!
I just wanna share that I passed my initial interview today😭 I used the the three s, sir Dan! It's all thanks to you!❤️ Hopefully the final interview will go as smoothly as my initial. ❤️
One basic thing I always did in interviews is if the interviewer asks "do you have any questions for me?" I also ask how long they've been there and also what attracted them to work for the company and what not..
Interviewer: say about yourself Applicant: about yourself It could have worked this way, but no Interviewer would say 'say about yourself', and any applicant who'd say 'about yourself' when he is asked to tell something about themselves deserves to be unemployeed
A few years ago it hit me that job interviewing is like a first date and working is like being in a relationship in a sense. Thinking of it that way I began to realize the error of my ways. This is an excellent video. Thank you so much. I cannot tell you how many good job opportunities I messed up when I was younger just on the “tell me about yourself” question.
Hello! Messaging from Brazil! I found this video one day before my interview. I was first interviewed about 2 months ago and I felt I insecure when I needed to answer the first question: Tell me about yourself. I felt I was in rounds and going nowhere. It was very frustrating. At end June I was invited again to my dream opportunity! I could not miss this one. Of course I could not sleep on that night, I just kept memorizing my script that I was passionate about after writing it considering all tips from Dan! It was simply amazing. I also checked on some other videos from Dan and I had this amazing feeling of full confidence on what I was doing. The interview was a success and 1 week later I was informed I got the promotion! I am feeling so grateful. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with me!
from a HR perspective, the “tell me about yourself” question is actually a gateway to create conversation. when you’re being hired for an executive position or something similar, they’re looking more for potential to mesh with the current culture, so similar personalities and ensure that employees won’t clash. hiring for managerial positions is more on competences. so the question really creates opportunity for people to share about them self to ensure that interviewers get to know someone that they had no idea other than their resume and linked in profiles.
@@mikehart5619 Behavioral interview questions are all about fit. Show that you match the companies supposed HR values, as long as you can tolerate them it doesn't matter if you do.
@@mikehart5619 pretty much yes, they are looking for reasons not to throw your application in the trash can. the more middle of the road you make yourself the better. i worked in hr and those people are every -ist in the book, they are hired to be gatekeepers. They aren't concerned with your talents as much as your mediocrity. If you have any opinons about anything this is a good time to forget them. You want to be not against lgbt issues, but not for lgbt issues, and definitely not engaged in lgbt issues, for example.
As someone who hires people myself just want to say that There are so much harder questions out there. Don't let this easy one stump you. Just be truthful, respectful, confident and relevant.
If you mean questions like: 1. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years 2. If you were an animal what species would that be 3. How many people have oyster card 4. What are you strengths and weaknesses? Or another stupid job and skills unrelated question... You can stuff your job right up where the sun don't shine. I don't want to have anything to do with pretentious d.heads
@@cheshirecat2641 Well, if you're applying for dead end jobs that give 25 cent raises, that's what you'll get. Now, if you're applying for high end jobs, you may even get 1 or two of these questions, but the atmosphere will be a few degrees higher.
@@DefeatLust I have a feeling you're trying to diminish me (and any other person in dead end job) by suggesting and stressing my experience and opinion comes from a dead end job only. How much insecure you must be to get off on that? Are you a stay at home mum by any chance? Just asking. Typical username from mumsnet and would explain insecurity. I've done hundreds interviews in my life. For either end of.the job. Low (dead end) and high end. And I worked in both types of job. Either (not all) would consist of stupid, job irrelevant, questions. So you're theory that "high end job" require mental gymnastics because those type of questions are valuable in your opinion and dead end job is just sail through is complete b.s. But I.guess you're experience comes from.changing nappies and hanging on your man wallet so must be correct.
@@mikepawlikguitar as a recruiter myself I partially agree. There are many idiots in the field that have no clue what they are talking about or what to ask. I see a basic set of skills for the job as an absolute minimum. After that I ask questions to get to know more about their personality. Is it the type of person that will get into arguments with colleagues and/or the manager? Will the person fit in the group with his colleagues? Will the person follow several important rules even though they may be kind of annoying to follow? For this I have both the interests of the company, and the applicant in mind. As recruiters, we are humans and sometimes we will make mistakes in judgement. Sure, but for every bad applicant we hire, or every good applicant that doesn't get the position, a good recruiter will get many others hired that are excellebt for the job/company.
@@ainevek that's fair! But I think the first thing to consider is "Is the person qualified?" Not "Will Sudan like him?" Not everyone will like everyone in the world. That's just how it is.
As an hiring Manager, I won't ask "Tell me about your self", to the candidates irrespective of experienced or fresher.. I use to ask "explain me your roles and responsibilities where you are working currently or were worked earlier" to the experienced candidates and "explain me the project that you were worked during the final year" to the fresher..
The biggest tip I have for anyone interviewing, is the interviewee/hiring manager is feeling as awkward/nervous too, maybe not as much as you but they definitely are. I have done at least 100 interviews and every interaction is always different, it's never the same leaving a feeling of nervousness/awkwardness. Just keep your answers to less than 2 minutes tops. Also, use specialized resumes for different positions. Some skills are irrelevant for some jobs, and more important for others.
One of the best videos that I have ever seen. It saves your face in the interview and teaches you how to be well prepared and equipped before meeting the hiring manager. It is really embarrassing when you have been asked a question about yourself and you are kind of freeze and stutter and don't know what to say. I learnt from this video that any responses have to show how your background or skills will contribute to adding value and benefits to the company that you're applying to.
Last time I had an interview, the lady asked me this and I was just so tired that I went "well I love eating and paying rent, which means I'll put effort into my job so I don't lose both these things". Got hired. 🤷🏻♀️
@@teenoush7489 nope, I was just so done with interviews and being asked the same questions and recruiters expecting me to say I'm super passionate about everything.
@@beasttitanofficial3768 Now that's a bold move then! I still do not have the guts to instil boundaries when I have normal conversations and then, there are very straightforward people like you xD

Dan, thank you for sharing the 3 S's strategy. I have been answering the, "Tell me about yourself," question incorrectly this entire time. Now I've got a solid response that I am confident will leave zero doubt for hiring managers.
Looking for a teaching position has been very challenging. The advice provided in this video clearly illustrated why some of the interviews have not resulted in a serious job offer. Concise, expertly presented professional guidance...well done sir!
Wow! This has actually opened my eyes, that's the same mistake I used to make whenever I went for interviews, I would talk about my life history! Lol thanks Dan Look! I will absolutely share this stuff
"So tell me about yourself." "...I don't know who you are, I don't know what you want. I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a suitable candidate for this job. If you hire me now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you and I will have another interview."
I should have found this page last week when I had my first real job interview after being out of corporate employment for 8 years. I remember this question and I failed woefully. I have another interview tomorrow. This video is indeed timely. Wish me luck.
A big thank you. I watched this video this morning and had an interview a few hours later. I think it went really well, the interviewer scheduled me for an in-person interview for tomorrow even before I asked. Unfortunately, the department manager will not be in the office, so he will call me to reschedule. Will update later!

Tell Me About Yourself
1. Not Your Life Story but What Value Could Your Bring
2. Be your Best Self - What's in it for them.
3. The 3 S's -
✅Success - "I have been...."
or "My Background is..."
✅Strength -"My strength is..." or "my real strength is..."
✅Situation - "What I am looking for is..." Is this what Your company is looking for?
Action: I need to memorize it and say it many many times and repeat it many many times so it comes across very very natural.
They ask more than they can pay...
This note is from a systematic person!
convenient!
So he's admitting professional interviewers don't ask the right questions. Let's just forgive their shortcomings because we want their money though.
I don't get that. I understand they wanna hire a good worker. But what values can I bring? What can I do for the company? I never once thought "Let me go apply here. I'll show them how to be humble, sincere. I'll make this a better company. If I'm applying fur dishwasher why you ask me what I can bring to the company
I guess clean dishes. My point is there is a right question for the right job
1. The 3 S's
•Success e.g. "I have been___" or "my background is___" what are you good at?
•Strength "my real strength is___"
•Situation how do my strengths apply to the new opportunity "what I'm looking for is___" and at the end ask a question "is that what you're looking for?"
2. Memorise some kind of script, practice, rehearse it so it comes across very natural.
Thanks for writing it down, it helped me a lot. ☺️
God bless you @Chey Love

I'm really pleased for you, but
I wonder what you do?
I know right..that asking question at the end..lol..u need almighty confidence.

"The one who asks a question controls the situation." This is very true.
Which is also why it's important for an interviewee to remember to ask questions as well. Interviewing is actually a two-way conversation.
I have been called for an interview just after 12 hours. This is going to be my first interview experience and after watching this video, I feel confident that I will win the hiring manager.

I've looked at lots of videos tackling the dreaded " tell me about yourself" - this is hands down the best treatment of that question
The Ultimate Fidget Spinners, ASMR, Reviews, Comedy But if you ask that to the ome
who interviews you... isnt that too personal? like... why would u ask me (the hiring manager) how long I am in this company?
JPao P. Not at all. I've been told before that I was hired, simply because I was the only candidate who asked questions. It shows a genuine interest in the company.
The Ultimate Fidget Spinners, ASMR, Reviews, Comedy I was in an interviewed and did not pass because I did not ask them back.
That's what he explained. It's like a date.

Hahahahahahaha eh haha
biggest takeway? "Whoever asks the question controls the conversation ". Thanks for that! Very useful
remember when i applied for my very first job abroad , my english wasn't good enough, so i made an script and practiced 100 times with the hope the interviewer would ask why am i applying for that company and position and Bingo succes !!
Eventually I ask my interviewer "Can you be more specific about the things you want to know about me?" (Not sure if I should have directed this question to my interviewer, but I did it..)
Then he said "nothing much, just a break the ice question". The conversation goes on for a little while and before I left, he said "there is a good news for you, you are hired!"
Well, kind of surprised. That's why I'm here to check what I said that triggered my interviewer to hire me on the spot. Kind of get the idea now. (Successful achievement in the past, not about personal life)
Thanks Dan Lok for the cool tips and advise 👍
I also just randomly talking about my skills and achievements.
Lol so true
Why not. You must prove yourself that what written their is true and valuable. To be honest i sometimes copy words from other resume. also Imagine thousands of applicants they screening and its better to talk to the person as it tells their true personality. Pls note self confidence is important and a lot of values that you need to show you are worthy
I agree.
And the point is, this is not even a question and this is technically the most senseless statement.😁😁
How can you judge anyone in 5 min? At the same time, there is no any other best way too. oops, this is complicated. This really is complicated, man.
I hate job interviews. I wish I never had to face any interviews.
@@sebakoli6781 If you do not like interviews then you should think about working for yourself. I mean self-employment, freelancing, or starting a small business.
About the interview questions, some silly things have become the norm and almost all the interviewer ask similar questions. If you formulate your answers and practise them; there is a great chance you will get the job. However, still, if you do not get the job, sometimes a closed door is a blessing in disguise. @@u.v.s.5583 I can hold seminars about myself, sir, what exactly would you like to know, more SPECIFICALLY about me.
@@ferenjianboard Why are you here? Why should you get out of this room having been hired?

Congratulations! How are things progressing?
One basic thing I always did in interviews is if the interviewer asks "do you have any questions for me?" I also ask how long they've been there and also what attracted them to work for the company and what not..
*Answer: Not your life story. Instead, what skills or value do you offer to XYZ company.*
yeah
Interviewer: Tell me about yourself.
Applicant: About yourself.
Interviewer: finally someone said it.
you got the job!
😂😂😂 your hired
Interviewer: say about yourself
Applicant: about yourself
It could have worked this way, but no Interviewer would say 'say about yourself', and any applicant who'd say 'about yourself' when he is asked to tell something about themselves deserves to be unemployeed

Thank you for sharing your knowledge with me!
can u share ur intro
Congrats That Was Really Amazing ✌
from a HR perspective, the “tell me about yourself” question is actually a gateway to create conversation. when you’re being hired for an executive position or something similar, they’re looking more for potential to mesh with the current culture, so similar personalities and ensure that employees won’t clash. hiring for managerial positions is more on competences. so the question really creates opportunity for people to share about them self to ensure that interviewers get to know someone that they had no idea other than their resume and linked in profiles.
So they are more interested in whether I will fit in at the "cool kid's" table than whether I can actually do the job?

I use to ask "explain me your roles and responsibilities where you are working currently or were worked earlier" to the experienced candidates and "explain me the project that you were worked during the final year" to the fresher..
atp9787 absolutely
I Love the way he keeps it real , on how to talk to the employers.
Tbh when I was 17 trying to get my very first job I didnt even know you were NOT suppose to tell them your whole life story lmao
Me 😂
I did this omg
Uhuhuhu 😭😭 you same me 😢
😂same hia
Its a learning curve, you won't make that mistake again.
As a recruiter for 17 years, this is golden advice! Watch this and do it!
What he's saying is all true. For people who are seriously looking, this information is much appreciated!
I'm gonna have my interview in less than 12 hours. Wish me luck:)
Good luck
How was it ?
@@pranav5170 Done with 1st round and waiting for the 2nd round. The video was very helpful!!
How did it go man??
did you get the job?
Last time I had an interview, the lady asked me this and I was just so tired that I went "well I love eating and paying rent, which means I'll put effort into my job so I don't lose both these things". Got hired. 🤷🏻♀️
mood bro
Certified bruh moment
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Please tell me you're joking 😅
@@teenoush7489 nope, I was just so done with interviews and being asked the same questions and recruiters expecting me to say I'm super passionate about everything.
@@beasttitanofficial3768 Now that's a bold move then!
I still do not have the guts to instil boundaries when I have normal conversations and then, there are very straightforward people like you xD
Been meaning to come back and say thank you. I aced my my interview and scored myself 2 offers. Thank you my good sir.
Congrats 🎈
"Is that what your company is looking for?"
"Not really"
_I haven't programmed this path yet_
"Then what is it that your company is looking for?"
"Someone that's not you"
_it appears I am suffering from 3rd degree burns allow me to exit the building immediately_
Honesty always has a bitter aftertaste, and curiosity is always spicy. Ask at your own risk. XD
"Huh im totally not person then"
@@valdirsalgueiro9087 Touche. A finish with grace :)
The irony is, I have an interview for social media manager position tomorrow..
Thanks Dan✌️

Can you duplicate what Dan LOK said in this video at your interview and let us know once you got the job. Cheers Much Appreciated.

Good luck with your interview! Remember all the great things you've accomplished and show them what a valuable addition you'd be to the company.
Is it tommarrow yet
saving this for future purposes
Me too 😂

Very helpful
Dan, thank you for sharing the 3 S's strategy. I have been answering the, "Tell me about yourself," question incorrectly this entire time. Now I've got a solid response that I am confident will leave zero doubt for hiring managers.
Oui
Looking for a teaching position has been very challenging. The advice provided in this video clearly illustrated why some of the interviews have not resulted in a serious job offer. Concise, expertly presented professional guidance...well done sir!
Wow! This has actually opened my eyes, that's the same mistake I used to make whenever I went for interviews, I would talk about my life history! Lol thanks Dan Look! I will absolutely share this stuff
"So tell me about yourself."
"...I don't know who you are, I don't know what you want.
Pure gold right here
Uff Imma use this one the next time fr ;DDDDD
Movie dialogue but tweaked.....btw nice one🔥
Hats off bro..you nailed it
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I should have found this page last week when I had my first real job interview after being out of corporate employment for 8 years. I remember this question and I failed woefully. I have another interview tomorrow. This video is indeed timely. Wish me luck.
A big thank you. I watched this video this morning and had an interview a few hours later. I think it went really well, the interviewer scheduled me for an in-person interview for tomorrow even before I asked. Unfortunately, the department manager will not be in the office, so he will call me to reschedule. Will update later!
Hope to hear the update soon
Interviewer: "Tell me about yourself"
Me: "Haven't you read my resume?"
😂😂😂....very nice! Next....
🤣🤣🤣Best way to answer🤣🤣🤣
This looks like my kind of answer 😂😂😂😂😂
This could be everyone's answer until your interviewers says don't try to be oversmart 😂
very ideal.
Tell me about yourself.
"A long time ago in a far far galaxy"
But really great Video, thank you👍
