    Gotta give my fav to the 1100kv hobbywing. Gave a 3800kv castle motor a go in an arrma (yes, i set it up properly) and it burnt out on a 16 tooth pinion and a 50-ish spur within a month of ownership. Tried an 1100kv hobbywing axe motor and it’s worked with no issues for 2 and a half years now. Castle is more for performance, it takes skill to work them properly. Meanwhile hobbywing is mainly reliability, but in my opinion, their motors are just plain better.

      @degaboss ปีที่แล้ว

      what arrma did you install the 3800kv motor in? if it was on a 3s you would have a 50 or a 57 spur, i have a 3800kv motor on a typhon and has worked great with 15/57 gearing

    This video made my Kraton 8S EXB motor decision easy. Going with the Castle 1100kv. I'm considering a 34/47 gear ratio. What ratio would you recommended for bashing?

      I went with the hobbywing max5 with the spektrum 1250kv did have a 25/47 was to tall motor was getting way to hot went down to 20/47 still getting hot so went down again to 17/47 seems to be good there but still gets hot after 10-15 minutes of run time ive got no fans for the motor tho and the pinion came loose today so not sure if that was causing it to be hot didn’t notice till I got home and went over it tho

      I have a Losi DBXLe 2.0 with BRP 7" wheels. I want to get the best long-term ESC and motor. Should I go with a Castle XLX2 + 800KV or 1100KV?
      Should I run a Max5 + other motor combo instead? FYI... I have the stock 13T gear but also have a 17T and an 18T gear waiting. Thanx!

    • @gaffle-411
      @gaffle-411 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What would you suggest for my DBXLE2.0?
      XLX2 ESC + latest firmware 2021 (I think I want to stick with Castle)
      Castle 1100KV
      Castle 800KV
      TP Power TP5870 1100KV
      TP Power TP5870 990KV
      TP Power TP5870 900KV
      I've got 16T, 17T and 18T pinions and will keep the stock 50T spur (I don't want to change the spur). I want much greater than stock speeds on dirt (never street) and greater torque to give me wheelie power. My current batteries are 6500mah 100C (4s x 2 = 8s). I want to stick to an 8s system and I'll be getting cooling fans for the motor. Thanx!

  • @VikingDudee

    Im fine with my 4x4 Stampede with a 2650kv motor and 11tooth pinion. Its around 35mph, I was hitting close to 60mph with the stock VXL system, but that thing ran hott! Even with a 9tooth pinion it was some where around 45mph and got toasty by the end of the pack. Good for 2s I guess, but I got so many 3s packs. With the 2650kv 3670 motor, it runs quite cool, and the wheelies thing does now is effortlessly, and temps are way better.

    • @Critical-Defense
      @Critical-Defense 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like a good setup to kill some time.. It’ll never give the full on rush that a 1:5 or even a 1:8 scale overpowered RC can do though. Being “fine” with a Traxxas 2S-3S RTR basically means you started out at the bottom of the barrel (same place I did, Traxxas marketing is fantastic and reels in the beginners) and you are sticking to the starter truck lineup and never venturing out.
      I’m currently going down my list of 12 RCs (just got into the hobby in June of this year so I’m still building up the fleet) and removing the installed ESC, motor, and pinion/spur gears, whether they are RTR or installed onto roller, then stepping up the voltage to the next level. So my 3S rig will run 4S, 6S rigs will run 8S, 8S rigs will be upgraded to a Castle MMX8S or XLX2, 2S brushed get 3S brushless. Then all of them are getting a heat sink for the specific vehicle along with a motor fan and a Spektrum receiver (SR6100AT, SR6110AT, SR6200A, SR315, SR215) to link to my Spektrum DX5C transmitter,
      I’m never “fine” unless it’s fast enough to wreak havoc on my nerves.

    Will VERY likely go with a Castle 2028 1100kv when I buy an Outcast or Kraton 8S EXB; a friend is running an RTR Outcast 8s with a 800kv 2028 and 39/39 gearing; thing gets barely warm.
    One thing about the Spektrum stuff: most people dont know, but the motors and ESCs is just relabeled Hobbywing stuff. So no reason to pay extra, when you can get the same thing for far less.

    I have an Arrma Fireteam which I plan on keeping stock for some time but what would you recommend as a good esc/motor combo for that vehicle? I do more off road speed running and small jumps than big jump bashing or on road speed runs. I would also prefer to keep it as a 6s vehicle as that's what I'm vested in as far as batteries go. I wouldn't mind getting an 8s capable esc but it would most likely continue to be run at 6s. Thanks for any help and great video. Much more informative than most everything else I've seen.

    The review of the 1100kv hobbywing in a 30+lb vehicle isn’t really correct. I ran it on 8s, (stock gearing )13t pinion 50t spur, hobbywing max 5 esc in my dbxle and it reached temps of just under 200* with a gcrc Maximus v2 fan setup for about 10 minutes. The manufacturer states for “light duty 1:5” and 6th scale.
    I swapped to an 800kv and all the heat was gone even when i went up to an 18t pinion. Temps were 106*
    I prefer my hobbywing over the castles I’ve had. The castle burned out too quick, got too hot too fast even with stock gearing and massive fans. Sure HW isn’t as “powerful” but they last longer.
    This is just my experience.
    But good reviews man!

I would like to mount a larger pinion and achieve about the same speed as with the 2000kv motor, but with better temperature values and a better weight balance, since the 2x 3s batteries are positioned on the front left and the motor on the rear right. The motor is almost as heavy as the batteries and maybe I can benefit from this.

    So in your opinion...if I wanted to run a mamba X8S or even an XLX2 in an XMAXX, would you recommend the 800kv or 1100kv 2028 motor? I’d ideally want to go with the XLX2 to have a little future proofing so which of the two 2028 motors would be best suited for it and what gear setup would you recommend for everyday bashing, slower sensored technical runs with the occasional top speed rips?

    • @InnovationRC
      @InnovationRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd go 1100. 800kv you need to gear so far up you'll actually create more load on the motor trading off its efficiency. Might as well be in gear reduction with the 1100kv while having speed over the 800kv.

    • @Average_D
      @Average_D 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@InnovationRC I appreciate the feedback and I completely agree with your recommendation. Would you recommend going with an even higher KV setup like the 1717 1260 or 1650 motors? My goal is to have a stable setup that will give me 60-70 mph top speed with adequate torque. I want to keep the temps down and have a proper gearing setup as well. I know I’ll be limited with this setup in an xmaxx even with a wfo motor mount. Any gearing recommendations to achieve these goals?

      If you want to run 800kv you'll need tj gear to the moon, like 39/39 gearing. Direct drive tj get any speed. I'd actually stick with that 1100kv motor it's more suited for that truck. Plus you'll draw more from the battery with the 800kv with the insane gear ratio you need to run just to get the speed you want

      You can go with either 1100s. Honestly may prefer the 5687. Just more staple for the size. The 2028 is big for sure, but still I'd choose the 5687 over the 1100 only because of size. That castle 1100 is a big motor, not needed really for Xmaxx

    Id like to see a 4 motor direct drive car with the 1100 kv motors. 1/5-1/6th scale. I would love to see a basher but the motors would probably be to heavy to bash a truck with a 2lb motor on each wheel. But a speed car would be able to handle the weight on the motor. The esc would probably run 4-5 thousand dollars alone and the battery would weigh more than the car. But it would be fun to see that.

This video did help but your input would be appreciated.

    • @InnovationRC
      @InnovationRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What's up! Thank you for the love so I'll show you some back. I will be blunt. You CANT go wrong with either 1100kv or 800kv. Why 800kv is used more is because it's been out way before the castle 1100 has been. The 300kv difference makes up for a lot of speed lost in the 800kv. If you gear somewhat normally you'll be golden. More torque and cooler temps than the stock motor if you go with the 1100kv. You don't need to gear to the moon to compensate like in the 800kv. Plus, 1100s gearing will be in reduction thus amplifying torque rather than the 800kv being in almost overdrive to get speed back. But the 800kv can has more torque to begin with. It honestly pans out either way. I personally like to be in gear reduction for more torque in the transmission rather than relying on motor torque. Can go back and fourth all day.
      What motor is better? Depends on the batteries 😉
