World's Best Muay Thai Clincher on 'How to Enter the Clinch'

  • Petchboonchu shows a safe and effective way to close off the distance, so you can enter the Muay Thai clinch to land elbows, knees, and sweeps. His style of teaching is very hands on, which makes the information crystal-clear to understand. Once Kru Benz is on the inside, he takes complete control of the fight. Afterall, he beat Saenchai 3 times... So, who's interested in coming to train with us August 20-26, 2018 at Evolve MMA in Singapore???

Chandasouk yeah its actually ridiculous how much talent is in and always has been in thailand. I'll find a new fighter that i obsess over all the time from just watching thai fights. It's like every single thai is technically perfect...but they do start fighting non stop at around 7

He's very impressive. There is a documentary made about the Lumpinee stadium (Lumpini) which chronicles changes in the sport and in particular their last fight on the closing eve of the legendary stadium. You can rent it on vimeo for like three bucks, well worth a watch.

You know what would be really cool? If *Shane* makes series that people can submit their videos on training with heavybag or something similar and Shane would do video on "critiquing" their form and show mistakes. So we all that can't join fight clubs/gyms can have someone to correct our misakes! Also it would be really benefitial to other people watching because there would be a lot of people who can pick up a lot of tips on watching beginners mistakes! I'm really sorry for my English, it isn't my first language to all you native speakers out there 😉

now this brings up hand movements that help set up the next move.
this is much more than just flicking and flailing you arms about.
constant contact and measuring the distance gpressure , staying heavy !
far too many muay people are taught to wip the arm all the way back behind there back when kicking - this is a limited method compaired to hand replacement

Hey Shane. I've always had in interest in mma, but I've recently decided to take it serious, I'm 16 so I know it's a late start compared to many others but I understand the risks and I'm willing to put in the work. Until I can afford a decent gym, I'm training by watching videos like yours, using what little equipment I have, wrestling at school, running, and sparring anybody willing. Wish me luck👍

Sir i do not know if you noticed this but you didnt mention it when he steps in and his foot lands the punch is landing at same time. This is a strike i learned off front kick it is very powerful if he wanted it to be. the way i was taught right after the punch lands use it as an elbow strike from 1 to7 oclock angle i then use the same arm to bring it back on same line to eye rake you can not do that i know but perhaps turning it into a side hand strike. This is only a suggestion I mean you and your trainers no disrespect, but the punch landing at the same time is important to this techinque cause it can carry your weight with it.

All of your instructions are from a right handed fighter perspective.
I find myself watching the vid repeatedly trying to translate all the “right/left” into “lead/rear” and then wondering if it even applies to a left handed fighter facing a righty.
I’m thinking that since all fighters, generally, have both a left and a right side maybe explain from both perspectives?

So there's something on my mind that I'm not sure about with regards to fighting. Why is it that in the early UFC when everyone was very specialized we saw grapplers easily dominate the competition, but now at the highest level of MMA we see strikers compete with at least as much success as grapplers? Is it a sort of "you gotta learn to walk before you run" type of thing where striking only becomes viable as a style after you get enough grappling experience?

    • @tomlee1696

I like how Shane pointed out on past videos that MMA is evolving and we will see new stuff dominate. (modified traditional material arts) Like he talks a lot on side kicks, how they been slightly modified to be useful for MMA. Who knows we might see a modified capoeira style to fit that combat. We already starting to see traditional karate stances be more common. It is like everyone is getting xp and unlocking new moves lol

    • @Elmy_Kiu
      @Elmy_Kiu 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Nohb'dy 11 I think the fighters are experimenting and trying to see what works best or they just jump on the free-win-train. You can compare it to a competitive online game lika mobas where someone experiments and discovers a crazy way to play a character with a certain playstyle which impoves their winrate significantly which makes it known, making others try it out too.

    • @baydenc3090
      @baydenc3090 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Since the early UFCs, strikers have worked out they need to develop good takedown defence to make sure they can use their striking (sprawl and brawl), so you see a lot of guys working on defensive wrestling. Robert Whittaker jumps to mind as a good example.

    The Bridge to Life
One of the oldest questions humankind has been asking is, “How can I know God?” The question is a valid one. What is He like? What can we do to please Him? How can we get to Heaven? If we work hard enough to be a good enough person will He accept us then? If we do enough religious activities to get His attention, will that do it?
Fortunately for us, the answer is surprisingly simple. The “Gospel” that the Bible talks about literally means, “the Good News,” and the news is good indeed!
First, we have to start at the beginning. In Genesis 1:26, when God created the first humans, He said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness”, then God blessed them and spent the days walking and talking with the people He had created. In short, life was good.
But why isn’t life like that anymore? What happened to mess everything up? This brings us to the second point: when we (humankind) chose to do the opposite of what God told us, sin poisoned the world. Sin separated us from God, and everything changed.Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” and in Isaiah 59:2 we’re told, “your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you so that he will not hear.”
This is especially bad news because there is no way for us to get across that gap on our own. We (humankind) have tried to find our way back to God and a perfect world on our own ever since then, and without any luck. We try to get there by being good people, or through religion, money, morality, philosophy, education, or any number of other ways, but eventually we find out that none of it works. “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death” (Proverbs 14:12).
There is only one way to find peace with God, and the Bible says it is through Jesus Christ. We were stranded without any way of getting back to our Creator, and we needed a way to pay for our sins and be clean again so that we could be welcomed back to be with Him.Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” So this is the Good News-that even though we were still enemies of God (as one translation says), Jesus came to die on the cross and pay the price for our sins so that we could have a relationship with Him again. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
What then should be our reaction to this awesome news? This brings us to the last and most important part.John 5:24 says, "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes Him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.” Jesus Christ himself even says, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10), and Romans 5:1 says, “we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
So how can I have peace with God, life to the full, and be confident of eternal life like these verses say? First, through an honest prayer to God, I have to admit that I’m not perfect-that I can’t escape my sins, and I can’t save myself. I follow this admission by believing that Jesus Christ died for me on the cross and rose from the grave, conquering death and sin. Then I invite Jesus Christ to live in me and be the Lord of my life, accepting His free gift of eternal life with Him.
The prayer can go something like this:
    “Dear Jesus,
I know that I am a sinner and that I need You to forgive me. I know that You died a painful death so that my sins could be washed clean. Thank you. I want to make You the Lord of my life, and I will trust and follow You. Everything I have is Yours now.
    In Your name, Lord.
    Amen.”
There is nothing magical about these words. It’s not the words themselves that make things right between you and God-it’s whether or not your heart really means it. We know this because in 1 Samuel 16:7, the Bible says, “The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
The best part of this whole process is that it doesn’t matter how badly we’ve messed up, Jesus is powerful enough to save anyone from their sins-even the worst of us. Romans 10:13 says, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." That’s fantastic news-no matter how badly we’ve messed up, we can place our complete trust in Jesus, and He will wipe all of our sins off the face of the earth. Jesus is the bridge to life.

biohazard724 as a wing chun/boxing coach, if my goal was to clinch, I’d rather punch my way into a clinch; I’m not into a “long guard” or long distance traps. Too much time spent moving and exposing your body without doing physical damage to your opponent while he is presumably striking away at me the whole time. Rather, if you bridge the gap by progressively striking your way in, you may not even need to clinch if your blows land.

I feel like if you play the outside game to get in, it avoids your opponent from playing the outside game to keep you out. He's doing the work by coming into your guard and doing everything to get in there. If you push in with strikes he can still jab at you, throw counters, teep kicks, leg kicks, and just keep you at the distance while he dances in the ring with you. You see it all the time with outside fighters in boxing who do that and win, chipping away at you until you're tired and landing a good counter. Play the outside until he comes to you, then show him you're really a clinch fighter. If you can fight your way to the clinch ok, but i don't think it's a good mindset.
