    I had the honor of taking a private training lesson with Petchboonchu, the most decorated Muay Thai champion in history, and arguably the best clinch fighter ever. He beat Saenchai 3 times, for the record. In this video, he explains his style and how to effectively use the Muay Thai Clinch to set up sweeps, elbows, and knee strikes.

I have always enjoyed when I see a good fighter that can be humble at the same time that he shows a willingness to learn. It show a lot of maturity and understanding that martial arts are not to show up but to to grow as a person, physically and spiritually.
    This is also a lot of good information with very simple moves that can be applied without effort. I hope that everyone else that watch it can learn and grow too. I know I do enjoy your videos.

      Hello friend, I would like to share with you a message of God. Jesus Christ is the Son of God only through faith in him are we forgiven and saved he loves you. With out Jesus Christ there is no life eternal and no forgiveness of sins. We all have sin amd fallen short of the Glory of God. Through faith in Jesus Christ and believing thag He died for our sins and rose from the dead on the third day, and asking for forgiveness for your sins,turning away from them.you can recieve the free gift of God of Eternal life through JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD. The wages of sins is death, but the gift of GOD is ETERNAL life through JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD.
      Jesus Christ is the Son of God He is the way the truth and the life no man comes to God The Father but by Jesus Christ.
      Jesus Christ loves you and wants all to be saved. Have faith in Jesus Christ and you will be saved. It is by Faith in Him and His Grace and we are saved not by our works lest anyman should boast.

    Really cool stuff from Petch! Thai clinching seems to be fizzling out in MMA, probably because of poor technique and maybe the TD aspect from wrestlers. But if applied correctly, the clinch can be a very deadly place to fight in, if done correctly, as seen here.

    • @ivynbean
      @ivynbean 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I feel no kicking or kneeing a downed opponent kinda neutralizes alot of the things the clinch is designed for (knee on belly strikes, elbowing the neck etc) failing a single leg isn't as dangerous when you dont have a kick to the face coming

    • @Z3N1T4
      @Z3N1T4 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      It will come back. I find the muay thai clinch amazing because it gives you an option to attack up high. Wrestling is great for attacking the legs but get them in a strong clinch even once and they are now worried about defending their head too. Which makes grabbing the legs easier.

      The real reason for that isn't that the clinch isn't effective, it's because of how vulnerable both fighters become when so close. You can inflict a lot of damage, but so can your opponent, and small mistakes get magnified and punished harder.
      Modern fighters like to keep more control of the fight with their own strategy whatever that might be, and clinching makes all that planning go out the window giving your opponent a win condition that didn't exist before
