As someone from her hometown, there is a hole in our community from her tragic passing. Her mom is now an advocate for missing people and uses her strength to help families going through the same nightmare. Aniah will forever be remembered
Thank you for sharing. I am rarely, as in almost never, moved by tragedies on 48 Hours BUT even with my anti depression medication, I broke down watching this. I could feel her parents grief, her brother’s pain. And when the D.A. broke while being interviewed, the floodgates opened and I couldn’t stop. I have daughters and granddaughters and I cannot even imagine the pain. I am praying for your town, your community and I hope this convict finally gets justice, which was long overdue. Sometimes I wonder who judges are protecting. Someone’s feelings or the victims.
You're heartless @@lp4265
Im just grateful that the law named after her passed. This never should have happened!
She’s was my nephew’s friend. My brother’s family is out there in Homewood. Finding out the details of the tragedy is so much more sad.
I’m also from Homewood. I still see a faded blue ribbon every once in a while. 😭
My brother was murdered a week ago, funeral in 3 days…the shooter is being held without bail under Aniyah’s Law 💔🙏🏽🫶🏽

Except that was NOT his child.
@@OneMightyandStrongwhat does that mean?? he STEPPED UP!
He was not biologically her father but he was in her life since she was a toddler and happily and graciously took on the responsibility of a father to both Anya and Elijah. She was blessed to have 2 fathers in her life. The bond and love of this family is beautiful. Remember this as i am a mother of 2 wonderful children of my own.any man can be a biological father but it takes a real man to be a dad. @OneMightyandStrong

The poor brother you could feel his pain thru the screen, the mothers eyes, the heavy sigh from the stepfather.....I hope this loving family heals as best as possible.
Yes! I think they have a very good chance. Every photo, every statement from them speaks of the love, trust, and comfort they all have in each other. Bless their precious souls!
The judge that gave him bond on his earlier charges should be on trial with him.
Agreed. However at the very end of the video, it said Aniah's Law now gives judges discretion to hold violent criminals w/o bond - sounds like maybe the judges didn't have that option prior? Which is crazy....
@@marygoff3332 Why the judge may not have had an option, I’m sure it could’ve been set high enough to make it unlikely he’d raise enough to get out.

Me too! Good comment. It also make you think twice about going into one of those gas station convenience stores at night.
Don't be a Bystander people. The person who saw him forcing her into a vehicle should have called 911 straight away. Shame on him.
Hey it's not always that easy when in that situation what would u do if was speeding passed on busy road
@@Cleaningmovivation If you see something, say something. It is *that* easy.
I love to hear stories about people intervening and protecting would be victims. It can be as easy as SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING. I have to believe there are more good people than bad in this world.
@ZoeBirdie214 A few months ago, I took a late night drive just to clear my head, and as I was zoning out listening to music, I happened to glance out through my passenger window and could've sworn I saw a body laying near the street?! I wasn't sure, so I popped a u-turn, and sure enough, there was a dude laying near the street with a bike tipped over on top of him. He must've fallen off the bike trail somehow.
I had no idea if he was hurt or if he was even alive, so I parked my car on the side of the road and ran over to him. Thinking back, that probably wasn't a good idea because it could've been a setup or something, but I was so panicked that nothing like that crossed my mind until I told people this afterwards and they scolded me for it.
Anyway, I saw that he was breathing, so I called 911 and explained that I'd come up on a random unconscious man. It was so weird; he was about mid-20s, was wearing trendy clothes, definitely didn't seem homeless or anything...he even had an iPhone that was a couple of feet away from his body. I'm guessing maybe he fainted or something? Idk. I waited until the cop came, and then headed back home because I was freaked out by that point. If I hadn't intervened, he could've been hit by a car-that's just how close he was to the street.
@@Cleaningmovivation id freaking follow the car and call police same things as if a child got taken, IT IS THAT EASY BC IF IT WAS YOU OR YOUR KID YOUD WANT SOMEONE TO STEP IN!!!! ITS THAT SIMPLE

Amen Sister!! I completely agree!! My Dad has always said if something painful would happen to criminals, there would be less crime because people don't like physical pain!! I can't say on here what I'd do to a guy if my daughter was/is ever S abused!
Or what should happen to someone when they continue to lie to law enforcement law saying they didn't do it, and enforcement knows for a fact a person did it, like has it on video. Each time they lie, they would have one less finger or toe or if a man & he S abused someone, he'd have one less ball, then the other one then the middle part.... I'm not a violent person, I'm 58 years old and never been in a fight, & always walk away from confrontation, but after my 58 years of living I can see the way our legal system is run it isn't working! Please tell me if you knew you was going to lose a finger, sitting right in the interrogation room, without medical care afterwards, would you lie or tell the truth?
Exactly, there is no dam justice.

This is one of the saddest stories. I remember Aniah's story so vividly because my daughter's name is Nya and they were around the same age at the time. My daughter was attending college in another state about 5 hours away. As soon as I heard this story I was on her phone checking in. I cried so hard when they found this beautiful girls body. My daughter graduated college in 2022. I'm so sorry Aniah was taken away from her loved ones. She left a beautiful legacy in the short time she was here.

The judicial system is a joke, and the fact that this lunatic is still awaiting trial almost 5 years later is insane.
He is still alive SMH ?
They delayed it again it was supposed to be this month and now they pushed it back to fall 😡😞
The fact that he KIDNAPPED, beat, and robbed not only one elderly man, but did the same thing to a second man as well, and was allowed to just walk out the door until his trial is insane, but, disgustingly, NOT surprising within our criminal “justice” system that routinely, and really is designed TO, protect the people accused of these crimes over their innocent victims, and the public-at-large.
If someone has no problem KIDNAPPING even ONE person, let alone two, they absolutely won’t hesitate to do it again if given the opportunity.
Not much else could constitute a threat to the public more than that.
That is SUPPOSED to the biggest deciding factor in determining whether someone gets bonded out or not.
Stuff like that is because judges are scared of defense lawyers. Guys that care about "fair" trials for everyone. Big fat liars. They don't care about people or the laws they defend. They only care about wins and loopholes.
Thank the Democrats
@@jimwerther not wrong a lot of Democrat cities are giving little to zero dollar bonds even for redefenders of violent crimes.. some of these people are walking around with 20+ felonies by the age of 20 it's crazy..
People they let off easy like this, are 9/10 an informant.
@@ItsagooGlo-bw6hk gawd, y’all just write things and pretend they’re facts. It’s absolutely wild. Just because you’d LIKE something to be true, doesn’t mean it IS.
That’s a blatantly false statement. “Informants” aren’t the ‘reliable’ source of information that the 80s & 90s, and films, made them out to be, and prosecutors are increasingly utilizing them less & less because of how often their information is absolutely bogus. They’d rather not look like fools.
No, the ‘justice’ system just routinely doesn’t work in the favor of victims, it’s not really what it was intended for, unfortunately, and we haven’t made many strides to turn things in that favor over many decades.
We have a broken system that regularly churns out offenders who shouldn’t be released, because we have FAR too many people imprisoned who SHOULDN’T have been in the first place, we have no place to put people, and too many people would rather release these violent offenders & not make their sentences more harsh than release or lessen the sentences of nonviolent or petty, minor drug offenses.
You can trace a lot of this nonsense back to the gigantic black eye for this country that is the bogus “war on drugs”.
Scary how this was her biggest fear, being kidnapped/mxrdered. It makes you wonder if people "know" their fate sometimes, like subconsciously, without knowing..
More likely is a phenomenon similar to repetition compulsion, where people unconsciously engage in certain behaviors that put themselves in vulnerable situations as a way to cope with the trauma of the first event. In this case, there was never an initial event to repeat, but maybe because Aniya was so fearful of it, she appeared as an easy target to predators.
This was horrible to listen to because it reminded me of myself- constantly checking doors, irrationally checking under beds/doors when you’ve already checked. She must’ve been so scared.
Yes it's like she was an legit angel on earth & it happened in a past life

There is a similar case in Nashville, TN. Why do we need a LAW to deny bond to SERIOUS VIOLENT OFFENDERS?! FFS
This one made me tear up, those poor parents 😢
The fact that she was afraid of being kidnapped and the suddenly she was, just breaks my heart 😢i cannot imagine her fear poor beautiful girl 😢😢
Premonition
He has such a dead look in his eyes. So scary.
I’m so sorry for her family, my condolences to them
Wow how lovely mother and daughter share the SAME birthday never heard of that!
Mom will never celebrate her birthday the same again. So sad.
I can't imagine the scene of Walt being in so much pain that he resorted to punching a concrete wall. My heart breaks so much for Aniah's family. Lord, please bring comfort to this family.
I know...to hit a concrete wall would break every bone in your hand.
I bet her biological dad felt worse!
Women alone can't even go to a gas station at night. Remember that ladies!! The system does not protect us!
This!
It does not. With that being said women MUST learn to protect themselves and learn to not be a victim if possible. Even if it means your death. That is our portion for being a human being in this fallen world…..that another human can and will take your life. 😢
Nothing good happens after dark
Yes you can if you’re locked and loaded.
@@gasmith7486not even then. I seen a probable cause case that had a video of a women being robbed at a gas station. The lady pulled out her gun but the robber was faster and shot her dead. I never go to gas stations late night, ever!
This really hit me. Bless this family. My heart breaks for their loss.
😢💔🙏🏾
This makes me cry. So sorry for such a beautiful family. She is in heaven❤
this has made me cry so much. Aniah would be so proud of how much strength her family have
She seemed absolutely lovely. I can just tell. It's always the good ones 💔
My heart is 💔💔💔 broken 💔 from watching this documentary. There are no words I could say, to the family or friends of this beautiful Angel 😇 that will ease their pain.
I'm truly sorry for their loss. 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Many dehumanized, souless creatures are roaming the Earth. This episode hit hard. I deeply felt the family's pain🥺🙏
This still hurts me to my core how someone could do this
This is my worst nightmare for my kids!
I can’t imagine having a father that loves you that much. I’m really sorry for their loss. She was a young girl with so much life ahead of her. But I’m glad she had parents that loved her while she was alive. May she rest in peace. I hope her family is healing. That family had so much love for her and you can tell.
This is so terribly upsetting, I'm literally in tears. You get to sense the beauty of Aniah 's heart. To think that that monster was free to walk and harm someone else is beyond comprehension. He was laughing and gloating in the court room. I really don't know how Anion's parents managed to contain themselves from physically attacking him. I am so glad that Aniah managed to contact her step-dad via a dream, she is still with them in spirit and that the monster who destroyed their lives can't do a thing about. May God bless this family
What a beautiful family of God. Love and prayers for you all. Rest well sweet Aniah. What a wonderful blessing to all those who knew her. May God continue to wrap His loving arms around y’all.🙏🏽🩵🕊️
Standing in prayer with you for this incredibly strong Family. ❤🙏🏽
R.I.P. Beautiful young lady.🩵🩵🩵
See how unfair life is.. she is good woman, everyone loves her and yet she died in horrific way in the hands of an evil man.
We live in a fallen world. The human heart is inherently evil. Lots of evil people out there.
Wrong place at a wrong time with evil individual lurking for easy target victims. R.I.P to this brautiful soul. So heartbreaking what happened to her 😢
It rains on the wicked & the just
1 John 3:10
The children of God and the children of the Devil are evident by this fact: Whoever does not practice righteousness does not originate with God, nor does the one who does not LOVE his brother.
Earth is a version of hell, I am convinced.
You can really tell that Aniah was so loved by so many people❤ RIP baby girl❤ you didnt deserve what happened to you😢
How can you see a young woman forced to a car and you did nothing. Will that not haunt you?
The world was robbed by a monster. Aniah was a beautiful soul. 😞
I literally just started crying. That could have been my baby. Sending prayers to her momma and family.
U can see how even the DA felt so attached to the family victim that he became emotional too while telling the story. 😢
