@tracemagace8434 she did not create a monster, she adopted a child - clearly no longer an infant - who had been raised in an orphanage. We do not know his back story, but lack of loving parental care in the early years can have lasting damage. I think Corey is a brilliant woman, her honesty and integrity shone through and she carries no blame for what happened.
They should check his background and see who his parents are since he was adopted and guarantee something wrong will be around his birth parents that kid looked callous and evil and those adoptive parent gave him and love and a life many kids can only dream of. For that woman to only get a few months is a disgrace because you don’t do things like try to delete your messages if you are not an active participant in the crime.

@lynnalexander9674 why wouldn't you? It happened to me too. I feel guilty sometimes for feeling the same as this mother. It's difficult to feel love towards a child you no longer recognize.
My husband’s aunt went through something similar. Her daughter and her son in law killed her husband (her daughter’s dad) for money she would have inherited from his death. Her daughter recently got out but the son in law is still in jail.

@@johnthompson7548 As a woman, I know that is true. Rich people, white people, women and people with traditionally good looks all tend to get lighter sentences in the united states.

This reminded me of the case where a lady adopted 2 brothers from South America & they had been mistreated in childhood. The older brother ended up putting an axe in her head while she was sleeping once he was around the age of 18. The kid in this case was adopted from Ukraine - no clue if he was mistreated. It's interesting to think that things can happen at a really young age & possibly mold a person in a way that you can never fix.
but 16 months old when he was adopted? I doubt anything that awful had occurred to create the monster he became. My guess is the immoral society that we've become created this horror show.
I think adoption is great since too many people on this earth already. but I wonder always when things like this happened that these parents would be given all the info including DNA, genetic history of these kids, that they dont know if psychopath or serial killer genes etc. so it is gamble to choose which one is sane.
So many people, like myself, would love to have a mother like Corey and be grateful for her love and support, it sucks her love was wasted on a sociopath and his toxic girlfriend. She's a strong woman and I hope she can find happiness in her life.

He will be more careful next time and he has learned a few tricks of the trade. Mild consequences makes a person think they have more wiggle room in the law than they actually do. I’m sure he will claim mental issues. Probably been laying down the ground work so it can be used in his defense in trial. Next time, he will succeed if you let him. No way will I spend my life hiding and running from a child of mine. If one of us have to go, send him back to the good Lord and let God have His way. Especially if you have other children. Corey's composure, grace, and strength are all so admirable. You can really feel what a genuine woman she is through her interview, and how much she loved both her husband and the son she lost in all of this.
She created a monster
She was in on it
Her face has no emotions just like the killer she raised
Very well said! Completely agree!

Seen so many cases of the same situation it’s like they have a disconnect from these people that raised them and showed them love. It’s so sick 😢

Four months is a slap in the face in the memorey of Ted Shaughnessy. Nick Shaughnessy should never be released from jail
Dateline did a more in depth story on this case. 48 Hours skipped over the part where her son & his wife tried deleting their texts messages but they didn’t realize that on Apple devices those messages are still saved on other Apple devices. For that woman to only get a few months is a disgrace because you don’t do things like try to delete your messages if you are not an active participant in the crime.
Even if one is a passive participant, they would still try to hide the crime. She didn’t stand to gain directly from the death of the Nick’s parents. She is to the crime, what a catalyst is to a chemical reaction.
@@vikramadoddamani first, that is COMPLETELY false. If you are a passive participant who doesn’t really know what’s going on you don’t actively try & hide your role, it’s just that simple.
Second, they were married so she was going to directly gain from the murders of his parents. She had already planned on what car she was going to buy her mom with the money. That is the very definition of directly gaining.
Third, she wasn’t just some woman who happened to be married to a monster. Her role in all of this was more along the lines of Lady McBeth. That back and forth on those text was direct evidence that she was in on the planning.

Idk. I can't imagine any scenario that would ever make me stop loving my kids no matter what they did. It not possible. But fbone of them ever did something deplorable, I wouldn't support or condone that. Idk that I could ever turn my back. I'd be driving to the prison. I can't imagine. Must be so heartbreaking.
How frustrating that Jackie only received a 4-month sentence. However, I love the fact that she has to spend the night in jail every anniversary of his death.

Nicholas makes me think of orphans with attachment disorder. Completely flat, no empathy, blaming others. The girlfriend/wife at least broke open the case but that sentence was insulting to the victims.
I definitely agree with you. I was a nurse and child in adolescent psychiatry. We had a lot of children. Some of them very young with psychiatric problems who are adopted out of russia and Ukraine. They were being hospitalized for out of control behav towards siblings or towards pets, Aggressive behavior towards parents or towards siblings... And many of these kids were diagnosed with attachment disorder and post traumatic stress disorder. Imagine being killed by the child you adopted and raised with everything they ever needed and more...damn.
Our broken justice system never fails to amaze me.
You cannot fix it.
I agree
but 16 months old when he was adopted?
I doubt anything that awful had occurred to create the monster he became.
My guess is the immoral society that we've become created this horror show.
I think adoption is great since too many people on this earth already. but I wonder always when things like this happened that these parents would be given all the info including DNA, genetic history of these kids, that they dont know if psychopath or serial killer genes etc. so it is gamble to choose which one is sane.
The only thing that happened to this kid is he was a spoiled brat.
So many people, like myself, would love to have a mother like Corey and be grateful for her love and support, it sucks her love was wasted on a sociopath and his toxic girlfriend. She's a strong woman and I hope she can find happiness in her life.
