      So very true. The TL gave them a bit of a bad reputation and this was a budget watered down version of that. Could have been so much more. Had an SV1000SZ for ten years. I do miss it. If they'd have updated the SV I wouldn't have bought an L6 Gixxer thou. 🤨

    I'm going to buy this bike when I turn 16 and I cannot wait! I am planning to do simple stuff like new tires and tank grips of course but after a while I also want to get OZ's Cattiva wheels and an M4 Race Mount Full Exhaust. I am planning on painting the bike white and getting a carbon fiber front fender and a carbon fiber rear hugger. Performance wise am going to get a power commander, ecu flash, and a dyno tune up. This bike makes 108 hp to the wheel but I am planning on getting the 120 they claim. Now I know why they say motorcycles are a money pit. Question for you though, how do I get rid of the big and ugly license plate holder and the turn signals. I've been looking online but cannot find anything. That is my biggest problem with this motorcycle.
    Edit: Planning to get an '05 or '06 though

The 1000 was much more popular in Europe, than was its smaller brother, the SV650, which was very popular here in the USA. Not a review as such, more what the poster did to the bike, what bikes he'd had, etc...
    Good bikes the SV1000, once you've sorted the knocking, rattly clutch, quickly detachable rotor magnets, and green connector which is known to self combust.. Once these are sorted you get a bike which is reliable, thirsty in traffic (about 35mpg) but reasonable on the motorway (about 55mpg) has mediocre brakes, but goes and sounds amazing. Pity you can't hear it's lovely V-twin soundtrack while you're riding it! Nevertheless I'd have another if a nice one came up

My second Sv still has a stick seat . Ehem not too comfortable . Also rear tire hugger I got mine in silver from eBay . Some r from China some are from other bikes . Another thing bar end mirrors . Meh I hated mine . When I bought this SV I have now . I put stock mirrors on right away cus I couldn’t see a damn thing , Stock helped but your always chicken winging it . So I’d suggest extendable mirrors , just longer Mine r actually from China and they’re pretty awsm actually ,I love the mirrors I have now they don’t look cheap n gross cus I would hate that. I got em from eBay . Check reviews of course , signals I love mine n they’re smoked too . So awsm . Also nobody will say fruity about your pipes if they’re yoshi’s omg man . Hi - question for you sv1000 2004 naked bs a bandit 1250 2008 naked which one would you prefer and why ?

    • @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes
      @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very different bikes to ride, the SV is more of a racer, where the Bandit 1250 is more of a tourer. Personally I love a big V-Twin, so I would opt for the SV with a high bar conversion. But if you do a lot of Miles and need something super reliable and smooth, the Bandit is the better choice. Hope that helps :)

      It's a little harsh to be honest, not quite as refined, but then again it is a big V-Twin, so they tend to run and ride quite fierce (but that's part of the appeal)

    Hello, Great review!
    I too love v-twins and do also want the jap-reliability, on top of that I have a back problem so a normal sitting position is what I am after.
    How are the sitting position on the SV1000? Do you have any tips on other jap V-twins?
    I had a VX800 for 8 years, which I loved, lovely torque and sound, but it got stolen and crashed....
    Love your channel btw, it's so much more fun to ride if your not crying every time you pass the bank!

      @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Please excuse the elay in responding, TH-cam held back your comment as spam?
      The seating position is a bit harsh for older riders, but I have considered getting the upright bar conversion kit, as this has great reviews from other owners. Other Jap V-Twins to consider.... I'm a huge fan of the VTR1000 as there offer amazing value (£1500 and upwards) and they sound great, ride smooth (it's a Honda after all) and you can also do the upright bar conversion on these. I like the idea of the Suzuki TL1000 But prices are high, and the looks are subjective. Hope this helps a little :)
