    • @CrazyPanda688
      @CrazyPanda688 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I mean yeah v-twin torque is nice but any 1000cc inline 4 will cream all over a SV1000. The SV has less torque than 1000 CC inline 4’s. It’s just that it makes it all at the bottom end. If you had the same rider on a SV and any 1000cc sportbike at the drag strip the SV would lose every time

    My Sv was a 2004 full fairing with a power commander, full Yosh RS exhaust, K&N airbox, gsxr 1000 inverted front forks and clip ons. It was a powerhouse and would run all day at 80mph at low rpms. What a great bike.

    Unknown Gem...
    I bought myself a new naked version SV1000 here in England for my 40th in 05 for £3999 brand new pre- registered with 8 miles, put an American M4 2into1 exhaust, and power commander with custom map and got 130bhp out of her, loved a 2rd gear wheelie that you could hook 3rd and land it at over 120... and could keep up with the R1s and Gsx1000s...
    Ahhh memories
    P.S. your 0-60

    These engines rev well and keep pulling to 10krpm. No point taking it to 11k red line as it drops off. 6 to 9 krmp is the sweet spot from memory. Tuned to 125hp at the wheel I cut 60,000 klm on mine. It was easy to service and never had a problem, still had the original battery when I sold it. Been on Phillip Island track twice ( suspension is one of its let downs ..... but only when pushed and easily rectified anyway). Great brakes, feel and power, still impressed years later. They're as much of a weapon as your ability allows.

    • @tbthedozer
      @tbthedozer 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @austinsears1637 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm pretty sure the TL-1000 has the same engine but with bigger exhaust valves by like 3-4mm if I remember correctly but yes I'm sure they had a different ecu tune and maps but I had a TRE modification on my 06' sv1000s which stands for timing retard elimination. It tricks the ecu into thinking the bikes in 6th gear permanently which let's you use the best map in every gear!!! Its THEE best modification possible! Part costed me like .69 cents after tax and only took me not even an hour of labor! Nice bike and oh! by the way, you're welcome!

    Great job on the memory with the GSX-F series, 1250 and 650.
    650 is cheap, fast (enough) reliable fun... but the 1250 makes nearly 80lbs of torque near 3,500rpm. Truly nutty for an inline-4 that revs just fine. Incredible, the comfort they all provide. Everyone that rides my GSX650F says "Dude I could ride this for 24 hours". True or not, they all say it. Suzuki makes a comfortable street bike, reliable with surprising value.

I wanted that Great sound and wanted to feel how it was to ride fuelinjected both are fun and quite different from each other, first thing i did with then though was a small gearing change. The bandit was a beast real wheelie machine if you wanted it to be but still gentle, sv 1000 a little twitchier due to the injection i guess faster to steer and lackning just that little in The absolute lowest revs, wich gearing solved. OH man i could go on and on, they are fun bikes.

    Suzuki made this engine to compete with Ducati !
    Your treating it like a custom V-twin !
    I have a TL1000s, on the SV1000 Suzuki toned down the motor a bit.
    But it still can rev as good as a four.
    Keep up the good work !

    Don't use the left clutch hand lever; the pause will slow you down. Learn to shift up only with your foot shift, like the racers. I only use the hand lever when down shifting during engine breaking or when I change gears at low RPMs cruising.

    I regret selling mine. Did clutch basket mod, blue connector mod, full yoshi setup, power comander, euro turn signals, gel seat, fender eliminater kit. It was a great bike but not that fast even with power comander but could still power wheelie in 2nd gear. Very reliable after the 2 mods

      My 01 sv650sf had a jet kit and a plus 1 rear sprocket, and delkevic full header and pipes, would lift the front tire shifting into 3rd with full tuck on the tank, really fun using the torque against fast cars 5x the price

    Great video, they sound awesome with Yoshi's. Always been a fan of the 650 curvy's as well. As an interesting aside, Honda built the VTR1000F Superhawk/Firestorm to be the "roll-on king" of bikes. In top gear roll-on tests it would take the CBR1100xx Blackbird 100 meters to catch-up with it and the Fireblade nearly 200 meters to catch it.

    Bro, everyone knew about the SV1000s. It was the modern "widow maker" back then. I wanted one so bad back when I had the SV650s 15 years ago, Also even though its a V-twin you were short shifting on that 0-60. I would of smoked you on my old 650s launching that thing like that.

    • @ToonsterToonster
      @ToonsterToonster 5 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Ummm nope the tl1000 was the widow maker due to its rotary rear suspension, that got a bad reputation after a few road test journalists got spat off. The SV1000 had modified version of the TL1000 engine.

    • @commonsense7057
      @commonsense7057 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ToonsterToonster You are correct. But I did not mean it is literally the same bike. Back then the SV1000 was considered of the same lineage of the TL1000 due to its engine thus being the "modern" version. They were obviously different machines.

      The engine and chassis is brilliant but brakes and suspension are crap. Buy the adaptor brackets to put the CBR900 nissin calipers on the front with sintered pads. Swap the fork internals for stiffer springs. A GSXR 600 rear shock drops straight in. Drop one tooth on the front sproket (or +3 on the back) if you have the S version. and replace the throttle tube with a 1/5 turn from a GSXR 600 as opposed to the 1/6 turn which comes as standard. There is also a bracket for a gsxr steering damper. Go to Traxxion Dynamics for parts For the 2003 version only there is an easy fix for the issue of slipping into neutral when going from 1st to 2nd gear. There is tiny part for this to be replaced in the clutch housing. All these mods are very cheap and they will totally transform the riding experience of this bike. Have had this bike for 14 years and will never let it go.

    • @CrazyPanda688
      @CrazyPanda688 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They’re not underrated, they’re just good beginner motorcycles. And that’s where the positives end
      The minute you start developing your cornering techniques and you become more confident as a rider and you push the bike more, the budget aspect of these bikes become clear. The brakes and suspension are crap. It’s scary how bad the brakes are on my SV650’s, and I had them refreshed about a year and a half ago. It’s a good thing v-twins have a hell of a lot of engine braking to assist you in slowing down
      I’ve also ridden an SV1000 as well and while the suspension is better than the 650s, it’s still budget, and won’t compete with anything in the 1000cc sportbike range from other manufacturers

I'm not sure if you're interested in fitting any performance modifications or not but I can definitely lend my knowledge/opinions on what to do/not to do. Oh and dont buy a power commander for your SV1000. I can tell you how to achieve the same results for under 5 dollars and only 30 minutes labor! Owned one, only thing I bought brand new in my life, same color, had it for 7 years. At that time I had 2 choice for that price, ans SV 1000s or a VFR.. I choose the SV, it was sick looking at that time and still is today. Best bike for fun-torque style riding, men this thing was FUN. for the exception of the V twin vibration in the handles. I miss it a lot. And it was powerful... the torque was amazing.
