Maaan that thing is massive. Glad to hear the issue was just firmware. Looks like a great choice for you need to go big.
I wish I was having your experience, I have two Maxes and Two plusses and none are behaving, all with different quirks, but mostly layer shifting. I'm gonna try the most recent firmware and give it one more chance, but these are so close to going back.
Which firmware version did you use for the test?
@randymay
Im curious as well.
Rather disappointed in the specs for the 4-Max, and the worst part is the bed won't heat past 85c making ABS daunting if not impossible, and the (still) lack of replacement or other larger nozzle sizes frustrating. My 3-Max is AWESOME for ABS (enclosed) and I wouldn't trade that for the world right now... I'm running Mainsail/Klipper and have input shaped it (the hard way of course) and tuned to happy perfection. Your 3-Max review pushed me in that direction early in the year, and with min mods (all metal hot end) and the Klipper firmware it's a production beast.
I own this printer and it can easily heat past 85c and other nozzle sizes are available now
@@bastiaanvdb6321 Thanks good to know! Can your bed get to 100C? Anything less is problematic for most ABS prints. I hope so, as I have a friend who bought one and I know he eventually wants to go ABS.
