Thank you for this, Piley! There's a ton of overlap here between your book and my upcoming video (3hr documentary lol) on invisible disabilities and the myth of meritocracy... "rugged individualism" is listed as just one of the many, many phrases that stand-in for meritocracy, along with "personal responsibility" like you said.
Perhaps you can delve into the psychological affects of trying to be a self sustaining island of an individual. I'm sure there's been research/studies done on the subject.
I popped into your live chat once when I was admittedly drunk. Now I'm self-censoring, but I appreciate your uploads. Being an anarchist, I enjoy most of your content. (possibly all of your content, but I can't say for sure since I haven't watched all of it). BTW I'm an anarchist FYI. Grew up poor AF in Arkansas, dad made less than 6k a year when I was a child. Lately I've discovered that I have always been an anarchist, therefore I subscribe to post-anarchy. Anyways, I enjoy your sporadic content Piley. Please keep it up eh. PS I would maybe recommend Bob Black? Idk bro, you do you. I'm a an individualist.
Thanks man! I didn't know anyone had discovered me through a stream so that's good to hear. Yeah I'm feeling much more drawn to anarchist thought these days.
I agree. The Declaration of Independence's foundational ideology for this country founded on the freedom to pursue happiness as we see fit was a mistake. Freedom should be there to freely promote the good and virtue, not to serve selfish desires. And because of governing presuppositions as to what is good (thanks in part to enlightenment thinking), we measure society by productivity and growth standards like GDP and so forth so most don't even ever feel like they have a reason to question our beliefs as a nation.

I'm looking forward to the book!

Damn, there goes my thesis on radical individualism, Piley's gonna slay it.
Your normal face is better than the cartoon cut out
Love to see a chapter about our responsibility to our children....how much is truly ours to take on...how much should be the collective?
