Dennis Prager ADMITS He's a Liberal | PragerU Response

Footnotes:
[1] This is not to stan the CPUSA, as to my understanding they were less than stellar about workers rights during world war 2 (among plenty of other bad things I'm sure they've done, that's just my knowledge with that specific image), but more over I just find the photo fascinating and wanted an excuse to share it, as it's a patriotic angle of American history that gets lost when Conservatives talk about the left "hating America".
[2] If someone appreciates western civilization as a part of a broader, more worldly appreciation for human culture as a whole, we've got no beef. People from the west have done some cool stuff. The issue comes when people start to argue which civilization is superior, as western civilization stans get pretty ahistorical and pretty racist pretty quickly.
[3] I'd pull clips from the video Shaun responds to in his masterpiece "Euopean History is not White History", but the videos he discusses all got taken down because the creator who complained about the death of "western civilization" turned out to be a Nazi (weird, who could have seen that coming?) But suffice it to say, conservatives online have intermittent outbursts when people of color get cast in historical dramas (article linked below to some modern day examples of that), despite the fact that in most circumstances people of color were in those societies at the time of their story (like a black knight of the round table), it's just that racists by definition exclude them from "the west" and therefore consider their presence to be a "woke casting" or, more importantly, "a threat".

    i honestly really enjoyed watching this - i think it should have more views! i really loved your conclusion. i'm all for the idea of thinking less in terms of what's socially "masculine" or "feminine" since it never really encourages lateral thinking. instead it would be better to purely focus on what we want out of the ourselves and the people around us; in doing so creating fewer barriers between ourselves by recognising the values that we possess in common, and those that we collectively wish to achieve together.

    Spaced was so good. I love it. This commentary does seem to focus too much on US social justice politics though, for example the supposed sexualisation of Amber. She's literally an adult, as she moves out to live with her boyfriend. But the whole presupposition is a huge stretch anyway. Theyre just acting like young men with their egos about hanging around with *slightly* younger women in and it's never overtly sexual.

    It is a masterpiece for anyone young in the 90's for sure. It's also NOT forgotten in the UK at least. Although today's scared of offence culture would never make a show like this now and even the lead Simon peg has gone all progressive and has apologised for parts of this show. So fuck him 😂 Edit: you lie and say it respects pronouns, it does not. People back then hadn't made that nonsense up yet so we had never heard of it. They even call vulvas character a "trannie" at one point and laugh. I think I've realised what kind of channel this is. Sorry I found it. Leave our time alone, it is not for you.

    I think the reason you feel the exposition is so rushed (and you’re correct) might be because in America comedy shows seem to have about 500 episodes per season lol. Here, particularly in the 80s and 90s, we used to get six episodes per season, seven if you were lucky. I don’t think TV channels were keen on wasting money on something as frivolous as comedy. Especially a brand new unknown show. In fact there’s an older show called “the Young Ones” which has a shoehorned-in live band performance halfway through. The reason for this is that they were then classed as a variety show rather than just a comedy show and were eligible for more funding. It was the only way they could afford to make the show.

  • @benwinter5295
    @benwinter5295 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I’m not sure how somebody could have watched the show, paid attention to it enough to write a review, yet calls tyres ‘Tyree’. Either they didn’t watch it and are just basing their review off of other peoples reviews and misreading it as Tyree, or they’re not paying attention enough to things to be able to review them fairly.

    Wow, you're so hard on them. Lots of people don't have self-reflection when they are that young it takes some big failures and experience. I think both characters are very capable of self-reflection, and perhaps that was the tipping point.. considering this is about the composer's life, this was an actuality, the catalyst of his reflection. And I'm sure that Kathy something similar.

    I get where you're coming from about including people of color, but i disagree with your take a little bit. Their mission statement was to have authentic characters that werent comminly represented, and if you're talking about 2 white people writing about their white experiences, thats waaaaay more authentic than including people of colour from a perspective they aren't familiar with. You're basically asking for trouble at that point, potentially including them in a manner from a totally white washed point of view. I'm not entirely sure every single show absolutely must include different cultures when they haven't been exposed to them. I wouldn't expect a bollywood film or chinese drama to have to include white people for instance.

    because a 25 year old man dating an 18 year old is so terribly awful? Jesus Christ people. What world do you live in? How many women here have dated a man in their mid twenties when they were 18? or how many men here have dated an 18 year old? Women dating men five to ten years older than them is pretty much the normal thing from what I've seen my whole life. My dad was ten years older than my mum. How many people have parents with an age gap of around ten years? I bet most of you do.
