My theory on the orange princess is that the industrial prince took her life out of angry on accident when we beat him in the boss fight, and the sound she made when she was thrown on the crystal was her last breath before she passed, and due to that, the evil wizard picked up on this, and was pissed at the prince, so he didn’t let him on the crystal and he wanted to kill but didn’t have time because we were coming towards him, and at the end of the game before we got into the flying castle all instance of her not moving proves it, she already died, and in the boss fight as well she doesn’t even move like what Reckless said
I have seen several theories. My headcanon is that the Orange Princess always had some form of latent magic powers. Why else would the Necromancer and the Evil Wizard take her again after the Prince's defeat. It has already been shown that they don't care for Red, Green or Blue, so why would they care for Orange. Simple, they wanted to experiment on her. The other 3 princesses were decoys, diversions for them to scheme. That's also why they took the crystal, to see if that would do something to Orange and it somehow empowered her but also - possibly due to the evil wizard - temporarily paralyzed her. After she recovered, she decided to use her new powers to prank the knights, only letting the King - her father - in on it.
I would argue that the other three princesses were used as bargaining chips to the main bosses in exchange for their support. The Barbarians sacked the castle, the Conehead knight haf a lot of political sway over the various factions in the western continent, and the Ice King guarded the entire Northern region where the Wizards castle was located.
This would also make up a good explanation for the pink knight being the orange princess. The orange princess is show surrounded by the same creatures that the pink knight uses for their magic and since the crystal gives the knights their powers it would make sense.
Tricksy the clown is the pink knight and i believe the orange princess is the clown. She was obviously caught unprepared with her "sisters" so she couldn't defend herself. The king also didn't seem shocked that his daughter hid her clown face or revealed it to the knight😂.
@@Reckerless it is true you could see her face partially during the adventure but it can be justified that at the end she put on make up to make the clown face to celebrate the kingdoms victory which is why for the first time the princess wears a veil that covers her whole face to hide her surpise. I've heard that the developers intended a sort of fake out death for the orange princess to motivate the knights into the finally conflict using the painters ability to paint a fake corpse like the one in his painting.
ok so something to note the intention behind the purple haired princess is that we can’t see her face the entire game. the simple reason to hide her face the whole time was to have the funny reveal that she’s a clown. she was always a clown bcz that what the devs intended from the start of the game. only reason the left the stabbed princess painting in the game is bcz they had already made them and thought hey why not. that’s my take on it is that yes it is in fact just a gag.

I have a kinda wild take on this so here we go: -Wizard orders Painter to kill the Orange Princess for the whole "last laugh" thing -Painter does so but doesn't realize he didn't actually finish the job -Under the idea of the princess being dead, they replace her with the clown -Orange princess (Who isn't actually dead) hides herself in the pile of corpses in the necromancer fight -Knowing that she would most likely be caught by the guards if she went out, she takes the dead necromancers armor and weapon after the fight -after the player returns to the castle and gets clowned on (literally), they use some crystal magic to go back in time to stop the princess from being killed (although they don't know she wasn't) -with how powerful the wizard is, he senses the players strength and powers up his minions equally (this starts insane mode) -the princess, still disguised as the necromancer also goes back in time and meets the player at the last point she was supposedly seen alive, the industrial castle, thus necromancer is unlocked there (this also explains why you can fight the necromancer as necromancer) But thats just a theory. She may have also just let the painter paint on her face because of well….. who knows….. my real question is…. Where did he come from in the frist place?
I love this theory. Maybe the Painter was an old sadistic king trying to recreate his kingdom (its a stretch) with the Necromancer being his chamion knight (still a stretch). Agreeing to help steal the crystal for the wizard in exchange for power to bring the dead back and create new life. Maybe the painter used his magic to change the princess after killing her to fit his kingdom. "Shes always crying, what kingdom has a crying princess? I know ill make her happy. LITERALLY!" maybe after everything, the Orange Princess decides with her new found abilities, the Oink Knight was more auitable. All just theories tho and the fact that they still got us like this after all these years, truly love this game
