This would explain why it's only seen as a costume in Battle Block Theater and may even explain why they are described as a "Prisoner", as they were supposed to not exist by that time.
I think it makes sense that Castle Crashers comes directly after Pit People. This would line up with the fact that "pipistrello cave" is a location in Castle Crashers which is very similar to Pipistrella from Pit People, also the gorgon makes an appearence but she seems to be the last of her species. This would also mark the first appearance of the aliens which would line up with the next game in the timeline Alien Hominid. I think Castle Crashers makes a good bridge between the middle ages and the modern era.
But then you don't have the explanation of the crystal and then the cool theory of the crystal being a part of the hat and the wizard taking over hatty's body.

One possible theory for when Castle Crashers could take place is to look at the equipment used by the knights. They're dressed like crusaders, sporting greathelms, shields, and what seems to be chainmail with some plated bits. This would make somewhere like the 13th-14th centuries make sense, as that is similar to the late chainmail to early plate armor used at the time. i genuinely hope that we get a castle crashers 2 that explains the crystal, the magic, and the story of all the games. i can already imagine it, cutscenes explaining "after entering the cave, we found this strange rock" and it goes on and on with more strange rocks, eventually forming the crystal of soul as i call it, and awakening the souls of some beings, giving them control over some elements. maybe CC2 could have us playing as the king, and the villains and telling us the story of them too, and i wouldn't mind seeing some new gear that we didn't get in CC1. maybe flintlocks or crossbows in place of the long bow, wouldn't mind those.

But it would make more since for the origin of the crystal or how it got into Hatty's hat, even if I don't like it. Not that I'm saying they might not make it.
in terms of pit people's time period, it is set in a post-appocalyptic earth so that would explain why there's modern day technology like guns, cars, helicopters and straight up robots in a seemingly medieval setting, though you could explain this away with the fact that time itself was also fractured when the bear fell to earth causing time to be EXPERIENCED in turns but also mashing together a bunch of different time periods which leads to having areas made out of circuts and computers populated by robots right next to medieval castle towns
one thing to note is that even despite the hat having red magic and everything, the crystal when taken over still has white electrical effects with it. not red of course this isnt big and could just be an oversight in the game but its just some food for thought

I can disprove your whole timeline by looking at part of the ending cutscene. Honeybottoms is dead in the forest during the end cutscene where we ride on the gem. This means castle crashers and pit people took place at the same time. This explains why everything wants to attack you and why everybody is happy and singing together at the end ( the final wish from honey kiss removes the bear blood and causes everybody to be happy again.) This also means battle block is first in the timeline and that means there is a good spot in time for when castle crashers took place. Althought there are many holes in this theory like the fact there was no narration for all of castle crashers or the fact that hatty's powers are now unknown but ya know, its just a theory... I didn't dive this deep as you do, but what do you think about this random guess? Instead of the crystal isn't be purely purged, which will kind against the ending of castle crasher. Purrham Furbottom simply find the wizard's deadbody, and took some magical item, wizard robe for example, and reshape it into morden hat or somthing on the hat such as that belt. By doing very basic research on The Behemoth, it is known that Alien Hominid HD, the ga,e that you showed, had its graphics redone in 2023, the first graphics change since Newgrounds. (2002). The hat is no coinsidence. It is supposed to be there.
i still think alien homnid happens before castle crashers simply because why would the eye (can't remember it's name for the life of me) attack you if it was after and not imprisoned on the ship it would only make sense that Alien Hominid either plays out on another side of the planet, or a completely different planet and they eventually arrive at the location of castle crashers where their ship gets taken down

i still think alien homnid happens before castle crashers simply because why would the eye (can't remember it's name for the life of me) attack you if it was after and not imprisoned on the ship it would only make sense that Alien Hominid either plays out on another side of the planet, or a completely different planet and they eventually arrive at the location of castle crashers where their ship gets taken down

I personally disagree that the hat is the Evil Wizard from Castle Crashers possessing hatty, I think it makes more sense that the hat was just an evil contraption made by the wizard to trap the souls of those who wear it inside, and the reason why hatty is in a vegetable like state is because there are too many souls trapped in the hat to decide on anything for the Theater.
