I have the 500i-R and can tell you out of the box with a max flow air filter and an egan straight shot muffler it is a beast. My friend and fellow faller put his on a dyno, same set up as mine no porting, that saw put down 7 bph!!! I will port mine when it needs a rebuild until then it is good enough for me. We got a 500i about 3 months ago my boss and I really like the power to weight ratio. Our every day saws are 362’s and a 400 which we are thinking of making those back up saws and run multiple 500i’s good video
Thanks for the video. When the saws ran the original 7 pin vs the current 8 pin, what was the difference in them? Not meaning times of the cuts, just what did it do for the saw? Did it run faster and how did it effect the saw’s torque? Thanks
We have a 500 and a 661 at work pretty close in power 661 seems to have little more low end torque. But 500 makes up for that in weight especially when doing land clearing and you have a saw in your hand for 8-10 hours a day.
That's what one calls an engineered shortage, choke the supply lines and then drive up the price. Pure profiteering and greed. There are warehouses full of saws but they won't release them. All part of the N.W.O agenda.

yeah kind of is. From what I've seen they can cake up like 661. if you don't knock them out from time to time. Now the 462 has the little air injector or whatever you call it next to flywheel. That seems to somehow keep the air flow high enough that you don't get much build up in the 462 air filter. I think the 462 will prove to be one of the greatest saws stihl has ever made.
Very meager gains on the ported 500i ... I’ll stick with me 462c ; much better Saw for my purposes and don’t suck juice like a drunken sailor like the 500i

461 really needs a muffler mod. Just the bolt on DP cover makes a big difference. 661 would have them all on torque.

The 500i is far more powerful ... Closer to MS661 than to MS462. Fuel consumption in my case is even higher than MS 661
