My mate had one in the early 90s. Fantastic driving around at night with the roof off, you'd have to wear a hat during the day because you got some burnt really bad didn't know you were getting sunburnt. We went to a nightclub and I said are you gonna put the top on he said no be right anyway I end up catching the cab home because somebody vomited all inside his car. Cheers Graham
I loved the video. Thanks Andy for the memories as well, my dad had a red one and I loved riding it with the top off. I enjoyed that car as a little kid. Greetings from Quito, Ecuador, South America
Yes they are great cars. I now have another two to restore. The Rally one and another silver one. Thank you for watching and your comments. I’ve never got to ride in one but I bet they are fun. 👍 Glad it brought back good memories. Let me know if you would like to see any other cars restored and I will put them on my list.
Another great job Andy, very nicely done.👏👏 I did one of these one last year and finished it in yellow. They do have some nice detailing in the casting and interior too.
Great video, Andy. Super job, was interesting to hear how the name X1/9 came about. As for the tow hook, Corgi did a gift set with the Fiat pulling a powerboat, code number "Corgi 37 Fiat". 😂 Good luck in reaching 500 subscribers soon.
Yes the name source is interesting, I found it doing my research on the car. I could have guessed it would be a speed boat. 😂 Thank you for watching, much appreciated.
I have to admit I am not keen on those larger-scale Corgis - too much like toys, rather than models for me. The tow hook is just plain wrong! Clean up is perfecto, though and a nice casting, Andy. You have made a lovely job of it, though, and it looks as good as a real one. That roof trick worked well, too! Good find.
Re the roof you have to experiment and mix things up or we will all be the same. Same model, original colour etc. I’ve 6 tins of vinyl so I’m passing some on in the DMC.
Great job Andy 👍🏻
Thank you Mark much appreciated 👍
You have done a great job on the old Fiat.
Thank you for watching. I don’t think many restorer’s have done the X19. 👍
Very interesting model and a brilliant job! 🤗👍👏👏👏
Thank you. Very much appreciated.👍
Excellent restoration Andy, Best wishes👍
Thank you Paul 👍

Excellent restoration Andy ,good experiment with the vinyl spray interesting choice of colour
Thank you Martin. That blue is good and a safe bet to use unlike the lime green 😂

Yes they are nice to do. I find yellow is difficult to apply like Lime Green. If you use a quality pain though it is easier. Thanks for watching 👍
Splendid!
Thank you very much. 👍
I used to love these cars as a kid. I bet there aren't many real ones still on the roads.
About 1400 left on UK roads and most not surprisingly we’re on SORN at the end of 2023. To be honest, more than I expected 👍

Thanks Kev. About 1400 on UK roads most on SORN , so may or may not be road worthy.
