Thank you very much Joe. My best ambulance so far. A great model from Dinky with so much opportunity to customise. Thank you for watching and commenting. 👍
Yeah it’s on the huge size. That turntable is just under a foot in diameter. It’s a lovely model to do. I’m still toying with changing the glass but I think the blue stripes grow on you
Yes that has been done by Paul Restorer he made an excellent job. I don’t think anyone else could improve upon that. Tempting though it is. Thank you for watching and commenting. 👍
i have two versions of this. one with blue glass and a blue interior and another with clear glass and a white interior. interestingly, they have different size hubs on the wheels. so i suppose all 288s were code three to some extent
Still a bit erratic on sound track: I wonder if you are getting interference from a local source? Another phone? Good video, mostly, though, and an interesting restoration on a big format toy. I doubt it would fit in any of MY display cases! Detailing was nice though: patience works irrespective of time! Nice work, Andy.
Thank you Fraser. Nearly a foot long this one. I will look into the sound issue. Maybe a different position for the microphone. It was very satisfying this one.👍
Thank you for watching and commenting. It is not always possible to keep to the original. Often it comes down to what paint I have available and parts. In this case I had the red and white paint, though not an exact match. The glass had a bad crack in it so rightly or wrongly I went with the blue stripe. I do my own decals so generally I have a lot of freedom here. Also in this case there are so many colour schemes of the real ambulance, you could do lots of versions.
I wasn’t sure about the full stripes but they have been well received. It’s good when you get feedback. Also if the model has been done a few times on TH-cam I think it is sometimes good to be a little different for the viewer. 👍
Another excellent restoration Andy. Lots of very fine detailing really well executed. A great save on the window unit too.
I wasn’t sure about the window stripes at the time and planned to replace them but they do grow on you .👍
Nice restoration, details and paint job 👌 👍

I think you are correct. The glass certainly had space for the bigger flashing light on top. So the models do evolve at the factory over their life.
