One of the big things that helps from your videos, and can really only be learned in person or from a video, is your approach to muzzle discipline and safe weapons handling on dynamic range (vs the very structured ranges that most of us are used to). I realize that it wasn't the point of the video, but it's a really important skill that you've developed over a long time that folks like me really benefit from seeing demonstrated. Thanks!
Ever try the Triple Nickel? 5 targets at 5 meters, 1 round in the chamber, 7 in the mag and a spare mag. Draw, engage 4 targets with 2 shots each, reload, engage last target with 2 rounds. 5 second par time. You have to do it 3 times in a row to pass, which is the "triple" part of the Triple Nickel. Great drills, BTW. If I need to carry a rifle, I'm not leaving my pistol behind...
@@silvermediastudio Ummm, okay, 1 El Pres is 12 bucks, so what's your point? Unfortunately, practice is expensive. no news there. I've got a .22 adapter that fits my G17 and G22 and one that fits my AR so that cuts my cost quite a bit. There are ways to practice without blowing your budget including various trainers. Adapt, improvise, overcome. The idea behind trying different things is to challenge yourself and keep an open mind. I get that shooting right now costs money, but it doesn't matter what your practice routine is, as long as you practice. Not disagreeing with you at all. Yeah, it hurts to pull the trigger on my precision rifle. THAT'S like $3-$5 a shot, but I still practice, although not as much as I'd like. Just depends on what your priorities are. YMMV. One thing that's been conclusively proven, smaller, more frequent practice sessions are more effective than longer practice sessions farther apart. If you can afford to shoot one box of ammo a week, it's better to do it once a week than to wait a month and shoot 4 boxes of ammo in one session. Just make sure you're getting as much as you can out of that box of ammo. Same same if you can only afford 10 rounds a week. It's not just practice that makes perfect, it's *practicing perfectly*. Practice perfection and you will approach perfection, even if it's only a little at a time.
Not going to lie, my first run with both were slow 11.7 pistol, 10.5 rifle. After that first run (or after sweating out my Friday night) keeping it clean, along with Minute of heart... Times are pretty consistent 9.5 seconds with pistol, 7.8 with Rifle. Barely made it with a 10.9 on rifle/pistol first go, but brought that down to 10 flat. It's only about Hell degrees out here after a couple inches of rain. Going to come out this evening and give her another go. Hoping to shave a full second off of everything. And will try out the "peek-a-boo el pres" Appreciate y'all as always! 💯 GOD BLESS AMERICA 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲 ALPHA MIKE FOXTROT 👋
Great video! Another variation is to have a partner load your mags for you, so you don't know how many rounds you have in the gun to start with. Still have 12 rounds total, but uneven amounts between the two mags so you have to do a mag change when you don't expect it. Lots of fun screwing with your range buddies. You can even load dummy rounds so you have to clear a malfunction. Tons of ways to have fun with this drill.

I definitely have my various guys/teams I follow, but the TR team has genuinely become my favorite (the gents at Tactical Hyve have become a close second, especially for me here in Commiefornia).
Same here. I’m in SoCal and I’m really looking forward to training with the guys at Tactical Hyve. If I can ever make it out to a free state I definitely want to take some classes with Karl and his guys at TR too.
That intro...you spent too much time with Mike (GarandThumb) :) Just kidding of course. You're still delivering the steak, no harm in a little sizzle. Besides, I don't own a gun, I'm just here for the Zoolander jokes. :) Micro-compact? What is this, a gun for ants? Great content as always.
I always culminated my classes in a drill like El Prez.. but... you do a body armor drill on each target instead of just a double tap... two to the heart, one to the brain.. I called it the Emperor.
What rifle is that Karl? Also, what AR would you recommend for around the 2k range? I can't make a decision there's so many options. What would be your #1 choice without building your own? PS love the live stream.
@@hansblitz7770 True, but we still bust his chops. I'm thinking of a slingshot version of this drill, in case we never get primers to ship in our lifetime again. And we need to adjust the drills for faster, younger, better looking operators...:)

I do a version of the El Prez at my indoor range too - Luckily they let me turn ,draw and rapid fire there as some places don’t - I just have to use smaller targets and place them closer together - or if there’s some free stalls I’ll take over a few and target them up as long as I can get a clean angle to the backstop in all directions - probably still one of the best all round drills skills out there IMO
Love your drill videos!. And the intro with all the close ups of your gear and grip are spot on. If I may ask and only if it won’t violate OPSEC, what was the first drill you and your guys would run at the beginning of each training?..warmups?
Another great video from the TR team👍🏻 also that intro reminded me of someone 🤔...."If you've ever spent a weekend with Flannel Daddy and add a little pew pew to your video...go ahead and hit that subscribe button!" 😄😢
That is as cool as hill .I hope that they will let me practice that drill at my range here in Pennsylvania otherwise I see you this spring classes in Clarksville.
That would be next weekend. I'll be there for Combat Pistol 101 on Friday and Combat Pistol/Carbine on Sat/Sun, if I get over this COVID in the next few days. Next class in Texas will be in Spring.
I loved that "oh shit" moment when Karl turned around on the last drill.

Great change up on a tried and true drill 👍
Good drills for the beginner as well as the advanced shooters
I’ve never thought of keeping my hands the same when switching shoulders. Have to practice that one thank you
A good way to make it more challenging is to have shoot and no shoot targets (like you got civilians in the mix)

For that price range, I'd say something custom like from Wilson Combat or Daniel Defense if you want a straight factory build.
Try starting face down on the ground and then run the drill. The Rittenhouse drill...
