I’ve done the update thru creators app and it’s really quite straightforward. Just to need to have your fx30 paired with your ipad/iphone, put the fx300 airplane mode to off obviously and follow the steps. The app will prompt you to follow the download and then transfer the file from your iPad/ iPhone to the camera. Once the transfer is made, the actual camera will ask you if you want to execute or cancel the update. Pretty easy.
I just updated the Sony FX30 to version 5.1 from 5.0 as when I was connecting to the Monitor + Crtl App it was saying there's a new update. So I updated through the App. However now my FX30 record but when you stop the record lights are on and it doesn't save the clip. On top of that it doesn't switch off when I press the power button. I need help as I use the camera for work...
im having the some issue with my fx30 I went from version 1 to version 4 but after that I could not updates the the further versions a bit frustrating I was so excited to start using shutter angle, please do you have any suggestions
I am having same issues. And on the creators app I tried it and I can’t get it to download onto the Camera even though it says it’s connected by Bluetooth. This is what I hate about Sony for some reason I always have trouble with their apps and their download. Every other camera I own is a breeze.
Did you check if shutter angle is available while using ninja for recording externally? It seems to be not available if externally recording.. as per one of the post on Reddit.
Can anyone help? I tried to change the speed to angle with error message returned "This operation is not available as follow - Var.Shutter ON", any setting from from camera leaded to this error?
I don’t have any third party batteries to check sorry! After Sony started doing that I only invested in Sony batteries so I would never have to worry about that issue
To put it simply, They are both the same. There is no quality difference. The main thing by is whatever you set the shutter angle to will maintain the same angle in all different frame rates. Where if you use shutter speed, the same shutter speed will look different in different frame rates. If you switch back and fourth a lot and want to maintain a certain shutter angle like 180 degrees then it’s best to use angle.

I was also confused because I have a a7iv for photography and when shooting video I’m able to choose 24, 30,60 and 120p but on the FX30 I have 23.98, 29.97 59.94 and 119.88p I’m guessing these is the same. My question is if I’m shutting in 23.98 should I still use a 1/50 shutter speed?
What is this update a limited time only because I can’t get it to download. There is no update button on the website. It just tells you to go to the creators app I go to the creators app my cameras connected, but when I try to download it from the phone to the Camera it says there is no connection.
I have a problem perhaps you might know the answer. I can only enable shutter angle when recording externally to an Atomos at 1080 60fps. And must have recording internally enabled too. I can't find a way to record 4k 60fps externally with shutter angle :(
can you share the sony fx3 body update file my friend? i can't download it from the web because sony is suspending their update file due to maintenance
Still going thru the NIGHTMARE of trying to update my A1 (last attempt was to reset to Factory Settings to make sure the installation doesn’t crash on some user options that Sony never tested for… that can disable your Wi-Fi connection or simply BRICK the Camera 🤬 Sure you don’t have to reset back to Factory settings to ensure a clean upgrade??? 🧐
it looks like they pulled the downloads temporarily as there was an issue with the a7r5 firmware and they wanted to be safe by pulling all 3 firmware releases

I have been happy with the cheaper fx30…later I’ll upgrade to the fx3 when the budget is right
Love my FX30 not a lot of difference in my opinion. S35 looks better with Cooke lens anamorphic
Just got mines yesterday for $1700 after tax! . Cinema line under $2k is insane. 4k/120fps

@@gearslip8325 Sony mentioned recently, I assume, that jumping to a higher version, before doing an earlier update could go wrong.

After the update, the third-party battery indicator will also show the battery level?

@ for the 180 degree rule you want to do 1/48 in 23.98, but on the a7IV it won’t do that so you would choose 1/50 as that’s the closest you can get

Haven't updated my two FX30 i don't trust sony at the moment. To many clients to deal with and I don't want any headache
