Thank you all for the feedback! Just added BATCH #3 to the pre-order so grab you CineBack while you can! camerafoundry.com/products/cineback-fx3-fx30
Any discount code?
Make one for the canonr5c please
The link to CineBack in the description doesn't work, and some others too (the ones ending in "...")
Please make this for the A7siii!!!
pleeease, make it for a A7S2
Caleb Pike is a creative genius. He is Gianni Versace of camera rigs.
Ha! Thanks man!
Thanks for my next ai art prompt
Sorry, what was that? Couldn't hear you over the slobbing sounds. 🤤
LET'S GOOO - been waiting for this. Thank you Caleb!
You were made for this! In 2016 I went to you for info on rigging builds and still today I’m here watching because you are the king of the cinema build at affordable prices…
Thank you. ❤
That's basically the form factor we've been asking Blackmagic for so long. They should hire Caleb to design their next platform
They don’t need Caleb for that.
@@memcrew1 apparently they do. because black magics camera designs are garbage.
@@memcrew1obviously they do.
facts im literally about to sell my Black Magic now. lol
or a CineBack for the BM4k/6k?
Please consider doing a version that supports the XLR top handle! I'd buy it in a minute!
Edit: looks like they added an option for it! Yay!
Same!!
Same, need my audio inputs
Yes please!!
Absolutely, before production begins it would be a major selling point to be able to use the MI connection and top handle XLR unit. It may involve producing a bridging plate, or extra support point or a possible custom cage solution other than SmallRig, but it would be worth the extra effort. Apart from this I love the concept . 👍
Did someone manage to find the link of a guy posted a link to a rig with the XLR handle. I think it's worthwhile checking it out
a lot to admire with this, like the product and the way you’re selling it. nicely done
Thanks boss! Hope you are well!
This is awesome man, well done.
The fact that you are custom building these, mad props to you sir! Looks fantastic.
Seems like a good first iteration, and really stoked to see stuff like this at all. Personally I think the many suggestions to accommodate the XLR handle and power via USB-C instead of dummy battery are spot on.
I also think the rig is overly long- seems like it could easily be tightened up by a couple of inches, to have the back edge of the LCD flush with the back edge of the battery when tucked into the slot (at least with that slim battery you've got).
I would also want to have the mount/dismount for the camera be much faster- ideally have the camera/cage slot into the system via the Arca Swiss plate on the bottom of the cage, and the Nato rail on top. So you just slide the camera in from the right side of the rig, and tighten a couple of clamps. The cold shoe on that SmallRig cage would block this but perhaps you could offer a modified version with it cut off, or maybe SmallRig would be interested in partnering with you on a new cage?
plus 1 for this comment
Would love to see a version of this where we could still use the FX3 top handle for sound 😅
I'd buy it instantly!
Me too.
Yes!
You sir are such an asset to the community. I’ve been watching your channel since you came out with the Panasonic G5 tutorial and watching your channel grow has been such a pleasure. You find ways to keep everything nice and compact to your studio cart to this product here. I was going to say how about the Sony a7iv. But you already said you’re working on one. I would buy one for it as soon as it’s available. Thank you again for everything you do. Your channel is one of my favorites
This is fantastic work, obviously made with love for the art and knowledge of the field. It's crazy how creative you have to get to counter act the fact that no big brand wants to make affordable ergonomic small cinecams. The community has to do it and it's so simple, it's a shame.
Officially adding the Panny S5ii X to the wishlist - maybe add something to make use of the USB-C recording like Condor Blue is doing with the top handle. That would be a super clean setup! Great work Caleb ❤
yes! I love this, always taking matters into your own hands and delivering for the community.
Thanks so much! Really appreciate you guys supporting me so I can turn around and make stuff for us filmmakers/creators!
Well done on the release, looks awesome!! Also thanks so much for the shoutout to our Volt Meter, love from the CineParts HQ! ❤️❤️
I've been following your "tiny" rigs for ever and I love that you'd jumped to creating something brand new. Selfishly, I hope there is something in the works for the canon analogs to the sony cameras you have here.
Would love this for Lumix S5IIX / S5II / G9II!
Same
can you also develop a product that uses the top handle port on the FX6, with XLR ports? We need the ability to get pro audio in without using the top handle please! I know a lot of people would buy it ASAP!
This is so cool!! Man, no one else on TH-cam is this innovative, at least that I’ve seen. Amazing work.
Absolutely love your videos and products! I bought my first ever camera - a sony fs700 - because of your review and have been looking at the fx3 for a while now as my next purchase, knowing you made this product had my droppin the fx3 straight into my B&H cart
Looks great. Would be awesome to have an alternative audio option to the audio top handle. Some adaptive cold shoe you could install somewhere else on the rig. Hope it makes sense😊
Exactly..
@@bemboing4338 fX3 and Fx30 have four channels of 24bit audio. It’s fantastic! Not sure why you would want to mess around dual system recording unless you had a dedicated sound recordist.
@@bemboing4338 that’s why I asked for a solution to be used with the Audio top handle. It’s possible. Something like Shape make integrated into a top plate.
I don’t need 32bit float. I often have two talent mic’d up and a shotgun or two going into the camera l. It’s great not having to worry about another bit of gear like a seperate recorder if I’m solo shooting.
I think you're becoming an innovator before our eyes! Love this!!! Brilliant!
2 days later, you're already in batch 3! Congrats, what a great product!
Thanks for sharing this, it looks solid. However, one of the reasons why I decided to invest in FX3 was the ability to use the top handle. Looking forward to your next rig video which includes the top handle as well :)
Haven’t finished the video but this would be such a game changer for indie filmmakers
Looks absolutely phenomenal, I was prepared to lick my wounds once again for being an A7SIII peasant but was absolutely stoked to hear you are working on that already.
So freaking cool man!! 🙌 I absolutely love all the different rigging products you keep coming up with.
The only thing I’d say is there’s no way to use the XLR top handle to capture audio. You’ll have to rely on an external audio recorder only, which is fine too.
Incredible work, thanks for the dedication! Would love a version for A7Siii too
This! Possibly a modded version of the top plate?
@5:53
There’s one coming
Would love one for my a7IV too!
There's one coming. He stated this in the video.@@vknational4301
One for the S5II would be amazing!!! Love your work
I agree!
I had no idea this was in the works, but I ordered it even before watching the video in its entirety. This is exactly what I've been looking for!
I do only photography, but I just wanted to say I love this simple compact rigging style more than regular rigs. They just look more robust and comfortable to handle. I'd love for someone to make rigs for photography comfort too, just for the emotional experience of using the camera.
Caleb making the FX5. Fire 🔥
Hi Caleb, Just worked with the Sony FX3 Firmware 4 to discover a major change has occurred since FW 3. If a dummy battery adapter is used the FX3 monitor will display an error message. As I understand Sony did this deliberately as the Sony batteries intelligently communicate to the camera and will reduce the risk of a corrupted file should the battery die during recording. We decided to power the camera via the USB input instead. I recommend you advise buyers of the potential power and/or clip corruption issue either by placing a warning label on the cage or in the instructions and/or the website.
How can you power via usb while utilizing this rig?
You wouldnt use the dummy battery correct? Just a normal battery? And then usb connects to what?
It seems this rig only has d tap ports
@@micahaka Powering the FX3 requires inserting the Sony internal battery into the camera then using an external USB charger or PD power bank such as Tether Tools Onsite USB C battery pack (26,800 mAh, 100 W PD) . The PD power bank is constantly recharging the internal Sony battery. Another option might be the Kondor Blue D-tap to USB C power delivery cable. Disclaimer : With any external power source for the FX3 the user MUST VERIFY the power delivery voltage is correct for the camera minimum and maximum power requirements. One compliant I did read about the Kondor Blue D-tap cable is the D-tap was not the correct size.
@@jamesoreilley2557 copy, thanks for your reply!
got to use my new FX30 rig built around the CineBack for the first time over the weekend and i absolutely love it. this is great and i highly recommend it. one tip if you're run and gun like me: the VB99 battery is quite heavy with the handle at the front, get two VB50's instead.
I've seen quite a few brilliant minds, but rarely one that also shares it!
Great going Caleb. Thanks!!
Really nice camera build man! Looks really pro, clients would love the 'look' of it lol
Caleb this is great. PLEASE consider doing one for the S5ii (before your Canon run!!) 😃
This is fantastic man! Would love to see CineBack rig for the GH6 some day in the future! Keep up the great work!
I've been waiting for something likes this for a while now. You outdid yourself this time!
Definitely buying the A7IV version when you come out with that as you mentioned in the video
That one is next!!!
Will it have a fan like the A7C version?@@dslrvideoshooter
would love this for my Lumix S5
Big Ups Calib! I love your new products. You've got the inside knowledge and style.
The moment the A7siii CineBack is available I’m purchasing. Excited for this product, meets and exceeds all must haves and most wants for a really clean and functional camera rig. Thank you!!! 🙏
Do one for the S5iix!
I love the design. I wish you left room with the design to include the top handle.
Also would like the d tap the other direction
This is absolutely awesome. Congrats on the launch!
Congrats Caleb, this is the perfect progression. I hope you build a 7 figure, passion driven business out of this. Keep inspiring us man, god speed!
Looks like a great product! So stoked you're making camera modifications like this.
Is there a way to make a similar model that works with the audio top-handle? I realizing mounting is the problem, possible to use the side 1/4"-20 to secure it?
YES this too! I would want to use the top handle at times.
Me three!
I like it, but I also like having the XLR’s on my handle. It also would have been better when this camera cam out instead of after I already spent tons of money on all the other things I’ve bought to rig it out. I’m sure you’ll have no problem selling them though.
One of the best thing happened to FX3 rig!! THX ALOT!!
Genuinely a game changing product for so many
LUMIX S5ii PLEASE PLEASE
Hey Caleb!! Do you think you could design them for users that's using the XLR handle? I own a FX3 and FX30 with the XLR handle on both and I would love to build them out like this!
Ditto!
this
same
please do
I'm actually interested too. Bummer that it hasn't. There's a guy posted here with a link and I checked it out. its actually one with the XLR handle.
the moment you have one of these for the s5iix im sold
Looks incredible! Great work, excited to place an order
i would like to buy a cineback but its sold out.
Great inventions Caleb... not seeing one for the Lumix S5 IIX do you plan on making that one? Perhaps you could design one that is universal or fitting for multiple models.
Purchased mine for the March delivery. Looking forward to rigging out my FX3!
Just came across your channel, saw the CineBack, instant cop. Amazing 🙏 Thank you.
I trust and appreciate your ability to mod and build. I am very interested in this mod. I do not however like dummy batteries due to the potential for data loss/corruption from battery exhaustion. Would the Kondor blue or similar D-Tap to USB-C PD cable be an option with Cineback? All in all I like this option. I am seriously considering this for my FX3. Thanks Caleb for all you do.
Vmount battery with a USB c to USB c option are the best and the safest for FX3,
@@hemantverma9899 agreed. had there been an option to go that route i would have pulled the trigger. Had one in y card straight out of batch 1 but changed my mind for that reason.
It would be great if you did this for the Panasonic S1H & the Panasonic S5IIX. The S5IIX are very popular.
Damn what a great product. The camera game has changed so much sense I was last in the camera department. Keep it up Caleb killin it dude!
YES, can't wait for R5C version in the future
Nice man! For those of us that actually use the Sony Fx3 Audio Top Handle, can you figure out a way to reinforce it? I’m sure you’ve seen Shapes Fx3 handle support piece they made. Wish there was something like that but would work well with all cages. Right now I use the 8sinn fullcage. Work your magic man, a support for the audio handle would be 🔥🔥🔥
Yes, a solution that could bridge the cineback and reinforce the Sony audio top handle similar to how the Shape solution works would be fantastic!
I use the 8Sinn full cage as well because it allows me to use the original handle when I need to.
This is amazing! Great job! Please make a version for the Fujifilm XH2s!
On the list! That camera would look soooooo good in a CineBack!
@@dslrvideoshootercan't wait for it 🔥
Oh yes please. With a top handle record button please. I pre-order the very second you put it up online here!
@@dslrvideoshooter seriously can't wait! Let's gooooo!
Second this!
Absolutely amazing Caleb! This is just the product I’ve been hoping for! I’m so stoked to buy one for my A7sIII 😁. Keep up the amazing work 🙏🏻
I like this a lot. I have been tentatively looking at building out my fx3 for my Gimbal wanting to use a v mount battery, but lots of options extend out too far back for gimbal use. This looks perfect
Hey Caleb, this looks really exciting. One tiny question on my end though - where would one add an audio adapter like the Sony XLR-K3M to this rig? I know, it's a "cine" rig, so one would assume sound gets recorded separately, but as I'm asked to film interviews quite a bit, having a capable audio setup (with XLR ports and good preamps) included in the rig is necessary. I love my XLR-K3M, so if there's a configuration that would take this into account, I'd love to know.
I agree with this comment. That top cheese plate needs to be custom milled to allow for the XLR-K3M. People can buy the cameras without the Sony Handle and then separately buy the XLR-K3M unit. Then, they can build out their camera with or without Audio XLR inputs.
Man, would be so cool if there was a way to keep the XLR handle on.
Dream Set Up spotted! Need to start saving money for this! Thank you for creating such a cool product!
You are a champion. I ve been following your chanel for years. I just can say thank you and congratulate you for your guts to develop this niche product. Wich you succes with it. Regards from Palma de Mallorca.
If you update the design, will you consider adding some sort of protector or cover to the power switch? I could see that getting flipped on accident.
Could! But it is very recessed so it shouldn't get bumped.
Are you going to design one for the new black magic cinema camera 6K full frame?
Finally 😭😭🥹🥹
Super cool! Lookung forward to the A7iv version. For the Alpha versions you might consider that some of us might want to cut out a slot on the top plate so it could be used with the K3M XLR adapter. Should work if the K3M is installed first and the screw hole positions are considered for this 🤔
Nice, Caleb! Congrats on the product!
I dont think you covered this in the video, but wouldnt using the same battery with your camera and monitor make the setup vulnerable to power ground loops? (grounding through HDMI, and killing the HDMI port). Its a very common problem on a lot of cameras, I dont know if the FX3 is different but I would assume it would be the same
Always a possibility. I’m a 1st AC and have worked around this for years. The safest procedure, (which RED also has written out and I’ll transcribe here) for any camera, but lately especially the Komodo and others, is the following. Wherever SDI/BNC is mentioned, HDMI also applies:
When attaching SDI accessories:
Connect a power source to the SDI accessory; power on the SDI accessory.
Ensure a power source is connected to the camera.
This ensures both are grounded prior to connecting the BNC.
The camera's power state does not have an impact on SDI attachment sequence.
Connect the BNC cable to the accessory, then to the camera.
When detaching an accessory mounted to an SDI output, ensure that you remove the BNC connection to the camera before removing power to the SDI device:
Shutdown the SDI accessory.
Disconnect the BNC cable from camera.
Disconnect the power source from SDI accessory.
When you need to swap out a battery on an accessory mounted to the camera’s SDI port, you must:
Shutdown the SDI accessory.
Disconnect the BNC cable from the camera.
Replace the battery on the SDI accessory.
Power on the SDI accessory.
Connect the BNC cable to the camera.
Damn bro. That's sick! Looks cool, sounds fairly priced, and just seems like something you wanted and went out and made it happen. That's awesome!
Dude, that is so sick! Need something like this for the C70! Im so sick of being constantly concerned about the flimsy screen! That Screen protector you built onto that cage is awesome.
Need a version for the Tilta cage! (And I would use USB-C PD instead of the dummy battery power...but that should be easy)
Amazing setup!! Cant wait to purchase and utilize!!!!
Very cool. I've sort of done this to my rig a bit at a time, only kept the audio handle and added SDI outputs, but you have a terrific all in one solution :)
This is the best thing since sliced bread, you permanently win for this product Fam. Looking forward to a model for LUMIX S5😊. Hope you can keep up with orders and wishing this product the best!!!
Cineback is gonna be huge. Can’t wait to tailgate the next batch in May and get my order in!
Absolutely stunning! Look at the old version compared to this! I cant wait for the release of the A7IV one, i will be waiting here to click the order button. The only reason why i bought a FX6 was the box style and heat problems for the A7IV, and im sure you are going to do a tremendous job in fixing both of it. Congrats allready Caleb, you are creating a truly amazing product over here!!!
Yes A7IV please!
Love the design of this rig❤
I expected to see some crazy price for the mod but I was pleasantly surprised and impressed. He’s definitely doing it for the love of
Amazing man! This is the perfect form factor, especially for medium to larger productions! With the first two pre-orders sold out, are you planning on more and or a larger release in the new year? Would definitely pick up. Keep up the great work!
Wow, I love this! Seems like the perfect match for the FX3/30!
I WAS WAITING FOR THIS SOOO BAD!
THANK YOU
This is so huge. The builds are endless
this is some quality stuff! Modularity is the way of the future. This really gives the camera a more "cinema camera" look that I think would do really well for optics! Clients will see this and be like damn, this looks serious
Looks beautiful! Hoping one might come for the S5iix
AWESOME!! Sadly I missed out on the launch and they are all sold out. Definitely keeping a close watch so I can grab one. Keep up the great work!!
I can't wait for the ZV-E1 version! I'll definitely get that!
I'd love to see a CineBack solution for the SIgma fp. I liked the build you demonstrated in one of your earlier videos. Would be nice to see one with the smallrig batteries. Keep up the interesting videos. Thanks Caleb!
I used to work for Sony until last year... and i like this product ❤
That’s such a great product. Great work Caleb!
good job bro, thanks for making this product
This is an awesome creation! I just purchased one and can't wait to use it! I think the next one should be a rig for the iPhone 15 pro max. With an SSD caddy, battery, lens mounting options and USB C charging! Keep up the great work! 👍🏾
