Yes I do! I researched about the type of professional industry I'm in and I don't think I can flourish in Korea. A part being that it's a competitive world and it's the type of industry where they don't really need foreigners. Nonetheless, this video has been insightful! I might go to Korea for a month of vacation instead. Cheers!

just a little true story. i am russian girl, who has been to korea one time. me and my gf were walking looking for cheap food and one man passing by just asked "Russian?" and I said yes without even thinking. He grabbed my hand and pulled in the side. So, this is how I understood that russian is similar to prostitute.

but a lot of times, that disrespectful notion is everywhere, people don't respect eastern european women, and tend to either fetishize them or make them all out to be golddiggers. I was in Paris and this dude went around a group of tourist and started asking every women, if she was Russian,a nd even though I'm half russian, I didn't say shit. People are gross

I just moved here in August for my semester exchange at Yonsei. this is my first time living alone and far away from home even though at 21 years old, but i’m loving it so far:) i relate so much to what you said!!! Especially on food, it’s easier for me to be healthy in los angeles and my stress right now since im vegan vegetarian is how to adapt towards korean food-i’m also considering trying out for modeling just to see how it is ! I hope our paths cross during my time in seoul bc i would love to talk to you more about life in korea (but also good places to eat) 🥰

I lived in Korea...probably before you were even born and korea was definitely not as developed (1996 to 1999). My favorite thing about korea back then was the people and the friends I developed. There were a lot fewer foreigners like me (I'm canadian) and meeting up with others instantly created bonds. The Korean natives I became friends with were also amazing and I am still friends with some of them today. I can say that I entered adulthood in korea.

I'm living in Seoul right now as an exchange student and I completely understand you on so many things! Loneliness is a big thing for me even though I'm usually with a lot of people but I guess, I still feel lonely cause it's superifical relationships and not deep ones, something that I really need in my life? It's actually quite funny for me because, back in my home country, I don't have any ties with my family, I only have my friends there so I am used to being alone and independent. But here, I feel more vulnerable in some way? Because I'm here and it's a different culture, I don't understand the language that well and when I'm sick (and I'm sick a lot here), I feel like I would like to be in my home country and see my friends that I miss... Maybe it's also because I'm so out of my comfort zone here, don't have a kitchen for example or private space sooooo yeah.
Anyway, I really like this video! It really helped me reflect on my own life here :)

I have lived in Korea for extended periods of time throughout my life. Each time, Korea really got to me. I often felt depressed and lonely. Korea has many beautiful cultural practices, but it has a harsh working environment. I have developed 'jung' with Korea. This jung is not based on happiness, but struggle.

I really relate to a lot of the topics you addressed here especially loneliness. I grew up in Japan but I'm Australian and moved to Japan when I was 9 and I'd meet a lot of other foreign people and become friends but then they would move away and I'd be alone again and most of the time you lose touch and it's really sad.
Best of luck to you!!! 💕💕💕

Well I am not talking about her but any average looking white ladies can apply for the model jobs in Korea and many of them will be hired.

Could you please recommend some vegetarian restaurants/places to eat ( not too expensive) in Seoul? I´m planning to visit Korea next year and afraid there's not many places where I could go.

In every country that you travel to you will find people that wish you would go back to your own country. That being said, the most welcoming and friendly people i've met has been in South east Asia and in Latin America. In Europe, I have encountered a lot of rudeness. I was in Italy once and I overheard an Italian saying awful things about us "fat americans." I'm not American, but I was with a group of Americans. I'm glad you prefaced your statement by saying you can't lump everyone into a category. That is the truest thing about travelling, and I wish more people knew that.

    • @doroparker1702
      @doroparker1702 3 ปีที่แล้ว

When you were traveling with the group of Americans you must have noticed yourself.
I guess half of the group were overweight and half were obese.
Wherever I travel, I can tell American tourists from far away. No other nation stands out like them.
I got a picture from a beautiful temple in Thailand. Guess where the huge obese lady was from, dressed in bright pink overall? Dominates my picture of the temple in size of an elephant.
I came back later when she was gone. Took her ages to move down the steps and walk out of the picture.
Yes, the Italians just stated the fact that there was a group of obese Americans. This is not rude and same will happen in France, Spain, Portugal, Germany.
No other nation ever has same heavy and wobbly people as USA.
If they were a group of beautiful girls the Italians would say something about beautiful girls from America.

Same like in every other country I guess. Send fotos to agencies and go there so they can have a look at you. Walk for them and they will maybe take fotos of you and make a sedcard.
Then you wait for them to call back.
You need to look your best all the time, best body, best skin, best hair.
What if they call you after a party night? Can you go there and meet a client with bad skin and dark circles?
      No beauty no job.
I only know two models, one male and one female.
Both are tall and slim from family. Both look just normal in person but very different on camera. She is pretty but normal pretty, it is her tall body and clean skin what makes her stand out and gets the jobs for her. On pictures she looks like an alien and really glamorous. She walks for Italian companies and does fashion shows and fashion fotos.
She went to an agency because her friend worked there and they have same body and a pretty face.
Both just do it from time to time as they study. It is well paid but full time is difficult.
