    The rubbing between the eyes... I've done that twice, and it worked like a charm... Then it was like he knew exactly what I was trying to do and he would fuss and keep turning his head away from my finger as soon as I tried... Lol.. Too smart for Mama's good.

    The biggest difference from my first to my second was keeping my second unwrapped/unswaddled during the day. I just laid her on my bed covered up or held her when I needed etc but did not swaddle her at all till I put her to bed and I kid you not -she sleeps all night long and I have to wake her up to feed her which can be a process in itself.
    The first night when we got home from the hospital was terrible but she was swaddled or in a car seat the whole time. The second on she slept through the night or would if I wasn’t waking her up to feed her every 2-3hours. I don’t know if that was the only reason or if she just sleeps more than not, but I highly recommend. No swaddle during the day only at bedtime. Hope that helps anyone!

    I used to and still sometimes do this with my daughter (turning 1 on October 23rd) but I strip her down to a dry diaper and lay a soft fuzzy blanket on her back then I lay back and put her on my chest. It always helps her go to sleep better I believe it’s because of the skin to skin contact but also the softness of the blanket on her back

    • @cheyenne1524

      Did you let her fall asleep or did you put her in her bassinet before she was alseep?

    I have a 7 week old. I went through the same exact feelings you did and I am still going through some of them. A good book I was recommended is called On Becoming Babywise. Your tips are exactly those to which I have talked with multiple people about. Dark room, no stimulation, feed and change as quickly as possible. We have to be there for each other through this process. It is very hard.

      @Tatiana Montijo no I haven’t did anything else. He gets a feeding at like 11pm and don’t wake up for another until 8am...even if I wake up to feed him he won’t take it but I assume it’s because his milk has rice in it.

He used to do so well, I was amazed, he was my easiest baby to go to sleep on his own by far, once we got outta the first 2 months of life.. but here we are, BOOM... He does decent once he is asleep usually... One wake up around 4am or so and right back to bed after nursing... Just so torn on how to sleep train... What method to use.

    He’s a newborn, he isn’t supposed to sleep 5+ hours without feedings....

    • @MeganAcuna
      @MeganAcuna  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is very much not true! Of course it depends on your individual kiddo and always listen to your pediatrician’s recommendations but we got the go-ahead from our doctor to let him sleep longer periods of time at night at one of his early checkups. He had been gaining weight really well and we were calorie-loading him by allowing him to feed on demand (often cluster feeding) during the day. The “newborn” stage lasts up until 3 months and it’s perfectly safe (and good!) for a baby to sleep 5+ hours at a time by three months.

    • @stayathomecichlidmom3579
      @stayathomecichlidmom3579 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      My pediatrician always said, unless there's a medical reason to do so, never wake a sleeping baby. It only trains them to take smaller more frequent meals, he also said babies will not starve themselves.
      For some reason though, hospitals still (at least whether I'm from) check to make sure they are eating every 3-4 hrs. By my 3rd who is now 10. I was just filling in those dang charts in the hospital and letting her sleep. She gained weight fine and she was small only 5lbs. It definitely paid off too because right from the hospital she was sleeping 6hr stretches. Which helps TREMENDOUSLY when you have a 2 and 4yr.
