    IN CASE SOMEONE DOESN'T KNOW: It is known for automotive manufacturers to intentionally use a formula of metal for frames that will begin to deteriorate within 10 years to ensure a need for people to have to continue to buy more or newer vehicles in their lifetime. It's referred to as "Planned Obsolescence". Smartphone companies use a similar technique, slowing down smartphones after a few years to ensure most people will buy more phones in their lifetime. It's all a set-up and the "regulators" are very likely paid off to not 'regulate' these types of business techniques which are well known within the business industry. LOOK UP: " Planned Obsolescence " (also referred to as "built in obsolescence" and "premature obsolescence") if you doubt the validity or prefer disbelief.

      @@dannyboyrides4507 I'll be short. The planet as we live right now can "take" 9-10 billion humans. We are 7.7 today. In 15 years we'll be over 9 billion which is about the maximum population of us that the Earth can handle. It's not going to stop ofc. Between 2050-2070 the population is going to peak. And it's fine. What is not is that we don't know how much worse everything going to get due to the growing population. Like now, we kill some animals because they get too close to our houses and also to prevent them from overpopulation. We need to do that ourselves already as we affected their life that much.
      But not a single government or whatever going to do anything that could actually work, preventing us from overpopulation. Like, you see a blind man, someone with any kind of disease, a fat person, or whatever really, use your imagination. They would not survive on their own. If we would still have a predator that could hunt us if you're not healthy you're dead. And that's the natural way of it. Wars? We act like it's a bad thing. In reality, animals fight and kill each other. Chimps, for example, they have a territory, if their territory no more has what they need, enough food for example (but there are more reasons) they go to another group's territory and they fight for it until they die. But many other species do the exact same thing alone and in groups too. It's a natural thing.
      About the other thing. Cars rust because lazy owners don't give a damn. They could prevent it. Or what he said, manufacturers could make a car that lasts for decades (for a lot more money!)
      And there would be other limits to it, like speed. Comfort. Etc. You would get a trash, for a lot more money. Would you really buy it? I can do that. It'll last, but it's going to be a trash.

      Brandon, you are conflating a lot of different and unrelated things here. Car companies use steel, and steel oxidizes. It's not a secret conspiracy, it's a combination of simple chemical reactions and people not taking good enough care of their cars to make them last. My daily driver is 26 years old, and still pretty solid. My fun car is over 50 years old.

    I've had a dilemma for a long time if I should sand my Saab 9-5NG 2011 undercarriage mainly because of two reasons:
    a) sanding is the best way of removing rust, but at the same time, it's very destructive and will damage all the factory protective layers that have been applied in the manufacturing process (in my opinion, not repeatable in a garage environment for sure). Furthermore, it will not reach places like those between the sheet metal welding.
    b) costs - If I were to give it to pro mechanic to do it, it would cost 1/2 value of my car.
    My first idea was to get rid of loose surface rust first and then treat it all with special purpose marine or industry paints, which are quality products to be used directly on rusty places being very resistant to environments like salty water. Your process looks promising and seems to be an alternative, and way more simple, however, I think the final flexible layer should be applied to protect the metal against stones etc.
    Do You seel these products in Europe too?
    I'd be happy to hear some of Your thoughts . Thanks

  • @48Ballen

    When he was talking about a 25 year old vehicle with bad rust i was shocked to see it look so good underneath.
    Here in Canada that would be a 2 year or 3 year old untreated car.
    If i saw a 25 year old vehicle with surface rust like that i would think it was parked inside its whole life.
    If you have a normal driver in Canada left untreated the cars frame would be rotten like swiss cheese in no time.
    I was looking under 2018 and 2019 trucks at the dealers and they had that surface rust everywhere except the ones which were undercoated every year.

      @@saulrivera1133 omg this here is one of the BEST pieces of advice I've heard regarding this topic. I hadn't of thought of that! I live in Central Oregon and one thing we know well here is cold and snow. We'll get between 4 - 10 feet of snow OVER NIGHT in some areas.
      I just returned to Oregon after living in New York for the last 3 years. They heavily salt the roads in winter over there. I have a 1998 GMC Sierra with a 10inch lift. I drove it from Oregon to New York. Not a spot of rust on the undercarriage. After 3 years on salty new york roads the ENTIRE undercarriage is COVERED with rust. Just solid red bumper to bumper. That's my I have been hoping to find a spray on rust remover cause i dont want to have to pull my truck apart to get all the rust off. I had been considering different types of underlining but boat paint and coating makes incredible sense! It would hold up better to the snow and moisture in the winters here. Luckily, because of the elevation here (about 5000ft) there's no humidity. But our winters are harsh cause we sit inside the snow clouds (I live in a mountain town).
      Awesome advice bud. I'm definitely going to give this a shot. 😎👍

    You protected your chasis against liquid only, but vehicle chasis needs to be protected from rocks aswell. When you are driving on the road, there will be some rocks hitting the chasis and penetrading this thin waterproof coating. The water will be able to get to the metal after that becouse the coating will be damaged in some places and the rusting process will restart in no time. Thats why you should put some heavy duty anti-gravel coating + add vax in the the end so that anti-gravel coating dont dry.

    • @actioncorrosionptyltd2526
      @actioncorrosionptyltd2526  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Rocks may chip the coating but as it is self leveling, it is easy to touch up. The product also has the ability to prevent rust creep so it will not spread under the coating.

    The rust would've been on the top face of the chassis as well, where the floor lays on it and there'd be more areas where two metal surfaces meet. How did you get the rust out of those areas? You didn't. The product seems to work well but please don't let people think the job can be done just by spraying the areas you can see. It's rust in areas you can't see that'll destroy your vehicle. Two parts that are attached must be separated, treated, and put back together. On a caravan, that means the body has to come off the chassis.

After doing that on the entire underbody, I coat the painted surface with the with the RustProof Clear, how well does it protect against sand, gravel, and road grit?

    • @actioncorrosionptyltd2526
      @actioncorrosionptyltd2526  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Like any painted surface abrasion will wear down the Rustproof Clear. However if it is chipped by a rock or worn down by sand, it is easy to touch up as it is self leveling.

    Two questions:
    1. This shows a spray bottle applicator, but on the USA site, it shows the gel bottle as a brush application. Is there a difference specifically for autos?
    2. How does this work, esp between layers like springs, or in cracks and hidden areas of auto frames?

    The slide rails on my RV are rusted to hell. It looks like a previous owner lived at the beach and never once lubricated the gear teeth :( Is the Action Gel something I could use on the gear teeth (not gear pack) and wash off completely, then lubricate? Thanks in advance.

    • @actioncorrosionptyltd2526
      @actioncorrosionptyltd2526  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rena, Yes Action Gel could be applied to gear teeth and then washed off once the rust has been removed. That will leave the bare metal clean and ready to be lubricated.
      However is there is any lubricant or grease on the gear teeth already, remove this before applying the Gel so that there is nothing preventing the Gel making contact with the rust.
