Good reaction, and I can understand that particular song feeling scary as your introduction to Heilung. You might want to go find the whole Lifa concert video and watch it from the beginning. By the time they get to that song, the viewer is initiated and can feel confident that they are friendly and the fierceness is part of the act or show.
My first introduction to them was Krigsgaldr. I saw this odd thumbnail in my recommendations for a few weeks before I ever gave it a listen. I've since watched the full concert video several times. It is one time I would say a ad blocker is needed. The flow gets disrupted by the ads. Of the three albums I have LIFA is by far my favorite. Another band along this line of music is Nytt Land. I think Ritual is a good place to start visually.
Do not be scared. It is worth noting that they do have an opening ceremony that states: "Remember, that we all are brothers. All people, beasts, trees, and stone and wind. We all descend from the one great being. That was always there. Before people lived and named it. Before the 1st seed sprouted."
Heilumg is the most angelic band ever created, they are a mix of Norwegian and German There music also is inspired by Pagen rituals that put your mind in a trance like state.
Several tribes had war chants like this all over the world. Most notable was the mauri tribes. Australian Aboriginals had an impressive war dance as well. The norse and germanics would do something similar while blowing horns pounding on drums howling roaring, and from what written records say, they may have done throat singing as well the name of the game was breaking enemy morale. You can do that by destroying something they care for, killing someone important or making the fight harder for them and soldiers who are scared shirtless of berserkers ulfhednar jofar jomsvikings huskarls varangians and a whole hird of angry viking at your doorstep.
The words at the beginning translate to i give my life to the spear of the all father basically saying they will never give up till they go to Valhalla
I get gooseflesh listening to this. I imagine the Frankish farmers hearing this coming off the longboats and involuntarily adding to their pile of fertilizer.
Their music you don't need to understand to feel it. I'm surprised you started with this one lol. Krigsgalder, anoana, narupo or othan by heilung check those out. Listen to a few more by them see what you think when you hear more range and vocals
If I'm not mistaken, they are singing in proto-germanic. A long extinct lost language. Some of what the lyrics are from archeological stone rhunes (engravings) from the Late Neolithic period of North Europe.
From what I understand, the lyrics are basically listing off all the various alternative names that Odin has in Norse and probably Anglo-Saxon mythology. In the old germanic languages, you couldn't really make things rhyme as changing the ending would alter the meaning of the words, so alliteration (the first sound of the word was more commonly used.) To give poets and singers more variety in their works, alternative ways to describe things called Kennings were used. The example I always remember is another way to describe the Sea was to call it the Whale-Road. Odin had a LOT of other names, some of them warnings about what he'd do if you pissed him off, others praise for his wisdom and power, but all were used in the various sagas and songs in the old days.
They are calling upon Odin. The Allfather. Mentioning his ring Draupnir, his horse Sleipnir, his Wolves Gere and Freki and his ravens Hugin and Munin, and then chant all the different names he is known by.

Threw him right in the deep end with no life jacket 😂😂 but he made it through ok lol, hope he checks out what you recommended
The Blessings of the Ancients be upon you, Brother
I don't know if I'm terrified or the most hyped I've ever felt 😅
Bruh, you need to watch this entire show from beginning to end. It'll blow your mind. Heilung - LIFA full show. You won't regret it.
This just scratches that primal part of your brain perfectly, in my opinion, that tribal bit that our instincts still reside in...
One has to see their show live to really get it. When I saw them they opened with a prayer from Native Americans. There was no opening act, and no encores. It was a complete show. Weird, but complete.
See them live
Good reaction, and I can understand that particular song feeling scary as your introduction to Heilung. You might want to go find the whole Lifa concert video and watch it from the beginning. By the time they get to that song, the viewer is initiated and can feel confident that they are friendly and the fierceness is part of the act or show.
You must look "Krigsgaldr" - Thats a nice one ... :D
This band's music will be the soundtrack to Hellblade 2
Hellblade 1 & 2
I was gonna comment the same. Beautiful performance at the gameawards .
@@slatooyjust Hellblade 2. They did not have any music in the first game.
Heilung makes me miss something I know I never had, although I don't know what it is.
Its the old ways brother. They are still within all of us.
The throat singing is something you would also hear in the music of Native Americans, Tibetan Buddhist Monks, and Gregorian Chanting.
Very Nice! Please do 'In Maidjan' then 'Krigsgaldr', then 'Hammer Hippyer'. Then just to make sure, do the entire concert :)
if you EVER have the chance, go see them live... worth EVERY PENNY
11:24 - It wasn't in English, there's another comment below with an amazing explanation and transcribed lyrics translation.
so youtube recommend the same video. honestly same reaction and had too figure out what is going on and now im here
i just love how every one from any culture is vibin to it.
Processing information, Processing Information. Heilung is most certainly unique>
the viking in the back hammering the drums is living life
My first introduction to them was Krigsgaldr.
This is northern European culture. Soul moving
Hail the Allfather!
Southern european one is better tho
@@haurg7418 "Better" is subjective
@@Mingliki not in that case
@@haurg7418 I disagree, so yes; subjective.

Skål 🍻 Healing for all 🤟🏼🔉🔊❤️
I went to see their ritual(concert) when they came to my city. It was the most amazing spiritual experiance I have ever had.
It makes you feel free.
0:08 you just poked me in the eye
The words at the beginning translate to i give my life to the spear of the all father basically saying they will never give up till they go to Valhalla
As Imsue other has said, Heilung mean healing.
Ive suffered from depression and angst most of my life, Heilung helped me heal. True music is powerful!
That low scartchy rough tone is old norse throat singing. The mongolians have a similar traditional singing style (check out the band "the hu")
The bowed instrument Maria is playing is a Ravanahatha from India.
I get gooseflesh listening to this. I imagine the Frankish farmers hearing this coming off the longboats and involuntarily adding to their pile of fertilizer.
This make Me wanna raid, Maybe because I am Danish. Think the same go's for the rest of The Nordic!.😁
Their music you don't need to understand to feel it. I'm surprised you started with this one lol. Krigsgalder, anoana, narupo or othan by heilung check those out. Listen to a few more by them see what you think when you hear more range and vocals
Man, I want to thank Spotify for an amazing song. Also, u should react to Danheim . Skugga🥰
This is an invocation to Odin that was sung before going into battle for a good battle that they be abke to get to Valhalla
Heilung made the music for Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, and Hellblade 2
These are our European forefathers... Amazing to be at a their concerts...
If I'm not mistaken, they are singing in proto-germanic. A long extinct lost language. Some of what the lyrics are from archeological stone rhunes (engravings) from the Late Neolithic period of North Europe.
The music/sounds on the "Hellblade 2" trailer is from "Heilung"!
awesome review brother, thank you.
They are Scandinavians channelling their ancestors the Vikings. to get that deep voice, they are throat singing.
I know several people have suggested it, but I would recommend Anoana or Norupo from them.
On PlayStation five. Or four. …and five.
I have no idea why I love how you said that so much.
This was a Norse language Tribal music and I listen to it often when I want to get riled up
Love it our old ways
This is really cool.
