dem Glückwunsch schließe ich mich an. Die Geburt des eigenen Kindes ist unbeschreiblich wundervoll. Moin aus Schleswig-Holstein, dem Norden Deutschlands.
Heilung are ABSOLUTELY worth watching live. There's drums, there's chanting, there's warriors on stage, and usually a human sacrifice as well. It's great! They call their concerts "rituals" for a reason.
@@damontcs they don‘t actually do human sacrifice. Pagans, nordsmen, celtics and the mixes in germany, scandinavia are not centered around human sacrificse but about the cycle of life and death. The nordic germanic peoples are not unsimular to the Dine (holy peoples of the US or Native Americans). The connections that all people have to creator (both male and female) are important.
A few informations about Heilung: The band members are from Germany, Denmark and Norway. Heilung (noun) is German for healing. They try to recreate the music our ancestors might have listened to from old runic inscriptions and texts from the early iron age up to the viking age. They do use some influences from outside Europe as well, like the vocalist Kai Uwe Faust (the male vocalist) using mongolian throat singing techniques. The instruments are hand-made using materials our ancestors had access to like bone, wood and leather. The langugages used are usually German, English, Gothic, Old High German, Icelandic, Latin, Old English, Proto-Norse, Proto-Germanic, and Viking age Old Norse, with the modern languages (German and English) being rarely used and the old languages being used frequently. That's the reason why you couldn't immediately tell what langugae they used in the song.
I've been to two of their performances. The shows are performed like rituals. They play drums, bones, bells, tagelharpe and a kind of Indian stringed instrument. Their lyrics are frequently in dead languages like Old Norse or High German, so understanding what is being said isn't as important as the beat and the singing. Congrats on the baby!
Their music - including the languages in which they sing - is inspired by ancient, pre-Christian, shamanistic European cultures! “Heilung” is the German word for healing, it contains the old word “heil”, which means something like luck, success! But it also applies in the context of “whole/complete” - if something is broken, you colloquially make it “heil” again (whole/complete - repair it) - in other words: "Heilung" (healing) restores the wholeness/completeness of the body/soul! It also appears in the German word for „holy“ (heilig)! But there are also opposite meanings - “Unheil” (bad luck, ruin, misfortune) or “heillos” (unsuccessful/hopeless/helpless)! The word “Heil” gained negative notoriety through Hitler and the Nazis, who used the term in the “Hitler salute” or as “Sieg Heil” - i.e. the invocation of a successful victory! Even today we still wish a hunter a successful hunt with a “Weidmanns Heil” or a fisherman a good catch with a “Petri Heil” (Petri is the abbreviation of Petrus, the patron saint of fishermen)! Before Christianization, many religions in the Celtic/Germanic/Nordic cultures of Europe were still strongly connected to nature - similar to the North American natives - (sacred groves, sacred trees, sacred springs, lakes and swamps, depending on the region also sacred mountains - they were both places of worship and places of sacrifice)! Of course, animals were also worshipped, such as: bear, wolf, eagle, raven, deer, wisent (the European bison), aurochs, also called ur, a Eurasian wild cattle that was already exterminated in Europe in the 16th century, etc.! The German words "See" (lake) and "Seele" (soul) have a common origin - lakes were often seen as a gateway to the afterlife, a passage for the souls of the deceased!
.. have you forgotten that it was Frøya/ Freya who learned Odin ( who came from the east.. æsir) seid ( magic) Odin is a much younger diety than the Vanir) .. maybe you should check up Maria Kvilhaug 😉..
"Heilung" means "Healing" and it really is just that. You feel it in your bones and your entire being. I have not had a chance to see them live yet but I've heard the shows are an experience unlike any typical concert. The live version is equally beautiful, haunting, powerful: th-cam.com/video/9PFz9FQsU8w/w-d-xo.html There's also a quick behind-the-scenes that gives some insight to the lyrics and what they might mean: th-cam.com/video/dlp_ksxQpbY/w-d-xo.html
The Bracteates they have based their lyrics for this song on contain little blessings and such. The story in the video is about the girl, Anoana. There are some interesting things to note here: 1. People born under an eclipse were said to have special powers - You get a hint of this because Anoana is born with little horns. She seems to be able to commune with animals as well, and later in the video she revives a bird. 2. As a child, she is seen shaking her horns at a deer. This is a challenge to the deer, but the deer ignores her. 3. The video ends with her being an adult, and challenging the musk ox, who accepts. The way I see it, this represents her reaching adulthood, and the animals accepting her as an equal. Them clashing at the end is up to interpretation. It could be her merging with nature, or she could just be, you know, trampled to death. 4. The lyrics keep mentioning a "Land Warrior", or protector of the land. I think Anoana is supposed to be one of these. There's no official explanation of the video though, so it's all up to interpretation, but that's my take on it at least.
Yes. Similar to Native American Vision Quest. A Rite Of Passage, merging with one's Power Animal. Land Warrior. To heal & protect the land & its animals.
The name of this song is an unknown word is a dead Germanic (my ancestors from about 1300) The word- the lead singer meditated to journey and find the meaning and found a woman connected to it; born to protect the Forrest.
When you said about their music should be in a show I actually laughed. Heilung actually worked in a game called Hellblade 2 Senuas saga. You're actually one of the few I've seen catch the fact that the baby was later the child and the woman. Congrats on for the birth of your daughter!
Someone who grimaces when drinking fresh morning dew from a leaf is in dire need of experiencing a complete ceremonial experience. I recommend "lifa". Then you will also understand "Remember, that we are all brothers..." asa og vana
Going to a concert next year, really looking forward to it : ) There's a live version of this as well, it's very good as well. The text in this is taken from a type of coin they've found, that they think were used as amulets. As far as I've heard, they haven't been able to translate the text on them, so the lyrics could mean anything : ) They use different languages in their songs I think, like norse, proto-norse, and proto-germanic. If you wanna check out more songs from them, I can recommend Krigsgaldr and In Maidjan (live versions) and Norupo (it has a video).
It's a Germanic, Danish, Norwegian group teaching the old story and our history which is heavily involved in ceremonies, sacrifice, rituals, paganism! All of Scandinavian countries were involved especially Icelandic people and Norway! There's so much majority of the world just don't have a clue about!
@@TheAsphyx666 saw them live in Sydney and Brisbane in November, spent 3 months prior constructing a shield as a gift for them, they gave me and my partner VIP tickets to the show in Brisbane, it stormed that night and it was outside. Was amazing to hear them with thunder in the background and they used my shield in the performance, they are truly the best to see live
They don't use modern languages but ancient languages like Old Norse proto germanic and old english and they use ancient organic instruments that they build. their goal is to recuperate their cultural roots. we're talking about northern Europe since the members of Heilung are from Norway (Maria Franz the female singer) Germany and Denmark.
Heilung concerts are described as a musical and spiritual journey. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to see them live yet, but I want to! There are so many small aspects to dig into in this song in particular, like when the older version of the girl did those high pitched sounds, it is similar to herd calling, primarily done by women in old times. Also during the guys chant, it changes from side to side, almost like waves going around you. The language is said to be a mix of old Norse, proto Norse and old Germanic languages, but I didn’t find a clear description of it, when I googled it😅
Austrian Deathmachine's lead singer sounds like Arnold Swarzenegger. There songs such as Get To The Choppa,Screw You Benny,You Have Just Been Erased & I am a Cybernetic Organism.
Fresh morning Dew taken from a leaf, is a great way to get water. Different trees & plants have other medicinal properties. Washing one's face with the fresh morning Dew, especially after a Full Moon, is considered beneficial. Hope u got to watch vid a second time, as u missed integral parts of the story. U did catch the babies antler nubs tho, & many miss those xx
The story is pretty much whatever you feel it is. As to the language, the answer is at least as complicated. It's not anymore Old Norse than Old English. I think the lyrics are maybe Proto-Germanic inspired. I have been learning Old English for over a decade and learned that translating that into Old Norse is pretty simple. Proto-Germanic is not attested so ... What I'm getting at is, with my understanding I can hear random words that are familiar and only guess. She might of said run, something about her grandmother. haha
I haven't watched a video from you in a while and wow a very noticeable voice change and then I saw your baby bump, so I had to google, apparently it's quite normal for the voice to drop temporarily during and after pregnancy and by about 14hz or 1.3 semitones (whatever that means). Congrats on the baby!
Since you are into rock check out the following Metallica - Nothing else Matters cover by Tulia (Polish music group) in the old Slavic singing technique White Voice or how I like to call it an Angels Scream. When you hear White Voice live its like the sound is penetrating your body. Its a really unique experience. Legends say that when there was no sound pollution you could hear girls singing from miles away.
Well it's not a norse song.... it's about the Brakteaten and their history/Importance during the Migration period in Middle europe (mostly germanic parts). I mean there's so much history behind it, it's nothing you can just explain in a youtube comment ! :P
This is there very first live concert ever & it's just perfect: th-cam.com/video/h1BsKIP4uYM/w-d-xo.html It isn't a show but a ceremony as they call it & I have to agree. Seen them twice, already waiting for the next time they are in my country. Traust is my favorite, listen to it on a good sound system with a huge subwoofer.
.. all just brothers.. ? What about sisters…? This is definitely about a female force ( who we have abandoned for too long) and becoming one with nature. In Norse mythology ( or old reality) there were the Volver .. women who had a strong connection to the outher worldly …. .. as you see, the little girl wakes up the dead bird..( and The Volva learns Odin to do magic/ seide.. and then the Volva was Frøya/ Freya the great goddess off the Germanic/ Norse people)
Heidi, to understand Heilung you need to understand Nordic Mythology and the people of the North - They try to bring back the feeling of the stone age in northern europe 10.000 years before the vikings. Some of this is still alive within us.
I recall a comment in another reaction that in Norse mythology a child born during an eclipse (right before the birth scene, there is a brief couple of frames showing the sun eclipsed) has some sort of dual nature with animals and the end where she is running into the animal, she is returning to her animal nature, or something like that. I have no idea of the veracity of that explanation.
Land Warrior.. healer of the land & its animals. Native Americans have a similar Rite of Passage, Vision Quest. The merging with one's Spirit/Power/Totem Animal.
That was amazing. I don't know if it's exactly your thing, but if you haven't seen/heard Irene by Sofia Jannok, I think you are missing out. It's one of those songs that truly makes me smile and even brings a tear to my eye.
Heilung is interesting; they're very talented, but I like them as ambient sound instead of active listening. I'd recommend checking out Grai, Eluveitie, and Cellar Darling for something more active-listening oriented. IMO, Slania is the best Eluveitie starter track, followed by Omnos or Brictom.
Another band you should do a listen to is The Sixsters from the Ukraine. It’s an all female band that are survivors of the war in the Ukraine. I’d suggest two of their newer songs. “Feel” then “I Stare At You”. Both very different from each other and written around the same time.
Everyone's interpretation will be slightly different. With that said, here's my take. But I have to say this. At 3:53, you looked away from a pivotal point. The girl healed a dead bird. Look at how the girl interacts with nature. She loves it. As she is holding the bird, she may be praying to the woman holding a child, Gaia? But, as an adult, she tried to dominate nature.
Hello Heidi, nice to see you again. And first of all, congratulations. In terms of language, I would place the song in Norse mythology, i.e. the Norns. In Norse mythology, the Norns are female beings who determine fate and live at the root of the world ash tree Yggdrasil at the Urdqelle, the source of fate. They control the destinies of humans and gods with their threads of fate from the hour of birth to the last breath.
If you're interested in this, I highly suggest you check out the song Altay by the group Otyken and Ummet Ozcan. They're from Siberia and Turkey. It has a similar vibe to this, but much more energy. I have zero clue what is being said in the song, but it is one of the coolest songs I have ever heard.
The video is superb and the music would make admirable ambient sound, but how it would come across if you were listening cold simply as a piece of music, I don't know. I suspect it would still sound good with a modicum of familiarity. In any event, congrats on the big occasion. Suggest you forget TH-cam for a bit and concentrate on taking the very best care of your daughter. I remember the thrill of hearing a nurse in the mat block say to me 'would you like to come and meet your daughter.' It's still the biggest thrill of my life. There's nothing quite like it. And my daughter (who has six children of her own) is still the most important person in my life.
Should try to react to Wardruna - Grá/Lyfjaberg and Eivør Pálsdóttir: Tròdlabùndin (Trøllabundin) - 10.08.13, Matoma - It šat duolmma mu (Hver gang vi møtes | TV 2). Search for my Medieval 'Neofolk playlist' on spotify, A Tergo Lupi - Fade Under
There's something very wrong with your settings because the program you're using is trying to constantly keep the decibel level at a constant level, which obviously kinda ruins the song and seriously damages the quality.
Some of the old beliefs are done very well in this video - giving respect to things the Old Norse would have done with a birth during an eclipse. You see, in Norse mythology, there are two wolves, offspring of Fenrir who chase the Sun and the Moon... one named Skoll, is a personified wolf riding her chariot across the sky in chase of the Sun. Her brother, Hati the Warg, performs the same chase at night in pursuit of the Moon. If they happend to catch each other... then they fear that Ragnarok approaches... the end times. Yet, during this time, miracles can occur.... Now, it's said, children born during this time possess powers that allows them to shapeshift into various animals or breathe life into dying bird. Heilung does a great job of giving life to the old Poetic Edda... their videos do such a great job of springing them to life.
We'll make a pagan of you yet Heidi. There are strange aspects, it is full of mutual respect for what is between you and your Gods, mutual respect for humans and animals, a desire to protect all of the Earth and yeah- No priests or pastors telling you the word of a God. That is between you and, in my case, Her.
Heilung isn't just music, it's history brought back to life.
Pre history actually and the continuation of the Boreal Mythos.. 😉✨🧙🏼♂️💚🌌

.. all just brothers..
Some of this is still alive within us.
oooh.... congrats on the new human!!!!!
If you like HEILUNG, take a look at FAUN!
BTW: There are many videos of HEILUNG with live performances. You should watch Anoana LIVE!
Noice as always Heidi
I recall a comment in another reaction that in Norse mythology a child born during an eclipse (right before the birth scene, there is a brief couple of frames showing the sun eclipsed) has some sort of dual nature with animals and the end where she is running into the animal, she is returning to her animal nature, or something like that. I have no idea of the veracity of that explanation.
@@notvochkin 😀 I think you refer to my posting so I reposted again. Thank you
Land Warrior.. healer of the land & its animals.
IMO, Slania is the best Eluveitie starter track, followed by Omnos or Brictom.
you have to watch their live show!
Beautiful visual and audio experience
Pure magic!
Heilung is my history brougt back..and I love it..proto German..or norse
Watch the live version. it's spectacular
Another band you should do a listen to is The Sixsters from the Ukraine. It’s an all female band that are survivors of the war in the Ukraine. I’d suggest two of their newer songs. “Feel” then “I Stare At You”. Both very different from each other and written around the same time.
The live version is corgeous as well.
Hi Heidi!! Congratulations with your girl!!!
please make a lot of pics and video of your child!!
Thime really flies.
Greetings from Aruba!!
Why? Kids should be protected from Internett untill they are 16, you never know how those pictures can be misused etc.
That Video had a VERY Druidic feel to it .
Traust (live) you won't be disappointed 🤯
You should check out the German group "Electric Callboy"!
Oh they're great!
@@HailHeidi also "insane" and "hilarious" ;-)
Ave Arminius
Watch the video of the story of Heilung. its incredible
Eihwar is good too ^^
You should check out the live performance of this
human gainst nature..simple
05:09 No Deer - Bison (;
No it is a moskus oxe…
Wao! So good
The video is superb and the music would make admirable ambient sound, but how it would come across if you were listening cold simply as a piece of music, I don't know.
Take a look at various live versions
highly recommended Traust at the Red Rock Amphitheatre
In the same style Eihwar is awesome ! :D
Should try to react to Wardruna - Grá/Lyfjaberg and Eivør Pálsdóttir: Tròdlabùndin (Trøllabundin) - 10.08.13, Matoma - It šat duolmma mu (Hver gang vi møtes | TV 2). Search for my Medieval 'Neofolk playlist' on spotify, A Tergo Lupi - Fade Under
please do more heilung, there are great. also live.
Sounds like Viking's soundtrack
Love your voice
watch, it live .....
Hey ❤❤
We'll make a pagan of you yet Heidi. There are strange aspects, it is full of mutual respect for what is between you and your Gods, mutual respect for humans and animals, a desire to protect all of the Earth and yeah- No priests or pastors telling you the word of a God. That is between you and, in my case, Her.
You should watch Vikings
Oh I loved that show!
🇪🇺❤️
Okay, you did not get a thing...typical Amarican i would say. Greetings from Germany.
I love that you insult me, then say "greetings." Like, oh are we being friendly now? HAHA
I just wanna touch grass... ✌
It's old Germanic
Where does the name "HeilHeidi" actually come from - in Germany it sounds a bit disturbing... you can imagine why...
it's not rap it's a story you just weren't watching...
Rap tells stories. I was asking about the music style, not the meaning.
Link to a concert at Red Rock. An hour and a half long, but worth the time. th-cam.com/video/0G5Dj-xMpb8/w-d-xo.html
