@@mickness_81 I was on holiday in the UK last year and managed to plan my trip around a festival Heilung were headlining. Now I get to see them at home in NZ as part of the tour your seeing. Live is absolutely incredible, and the drums will reverberate through your entire being.
I saw them twice. First time in Milan (2022), and second time in Antwerpen, 10 days ago .... Seeing them live is a surreal experience. Once you lived it, you just wish to repeat it again and again. I bought tickets to their concerts in Milan, next year, and I just can't wait. Heilung are something special.
It took quite a while until the first break. Is with many hear the Heilung (healing) for the first time so. It actually takes time to process what you have heard. That's what makes Heilung so interesting.
Me and my wife is going to Stockholm this winter to see Heilung for a second time. It will be a blast!! Great reaction. Im glad that you found this band. The instrument Maria is playing is called tagelharpa, a old swedish instrument swedes brought thru ostrobothnia Finland to the Estonian Isles long time ago. Tagel means horsehair in swedish but some people use syntetic materials for strings instead. I prefer horsehair even though its harder to play on.
While I am glad you reacted to the live, as they are so incredible live. The music video will show how bang on your observations are. Heilung is music for the soul.
Pre-Viking? Maybe you dont know, but the Vikings are not a culture group, they are germanian tribes, like the saxons, the russ (swedisht vikings who found russia) and so on.
You're contradicting yourself. A group of tribes with similar beliefs, practices and language are what define a culture. But Vikings were not tribes. A Viking is an exploit, an activity and Vikings are those who did them. Not as a cultute but as a practice. The Viking Age exists. There's a whole period of European history dominated by it.
Nice history lesson there, professor. When people say Pre-Viking, they're talking about the years before the Viking Age, which began in 793. This generally refers to the Nordic/Germanic Iron Age, which dates from around 500 BCE through 793 CE. It's a semantic dating structure, and it does not mean Norsemen didn't go Viking prior to 793.
I agree with your assessment. Interestingly, if you listen to tribal music from any continent, it all seems to take you to the same place. Someplace very appealing at a primal level. I think it speaks to our humanity. I want to see these guys in concert so much, but their dates in the U.S. don't even come close to me. From what I understand, they're not really concerts, but more like participating in a ritual.
What? I didn't realize you hadn't heard Heilung before. Do yourself a favor and watch the original video to this song when you get the chance please. ❤ 10:10 How'd you do that? 😂
nice one, but i have to say that i prefer wardruna over heilung. and of course nothing can beat eivor. and perfection unfolds when eivor and einar selvik from wardruna perform together
It's fun how you talk about being born special and being able to communicate with animals. Go check out the official music video!
Indeed
Im seeing them in November in Australia. Cant wait. Ive heard its a nigjt ill never forget.
Also it's more a ritual than a concert from the way its performed from what I've heard.

I will see them this saturday in Berlin ... it will be my 3rd ritual attending.
You lucky bastard.
Edit: I'd say "have fun" but I don't think I need to...

Reflects Iron Age Germanic paganism.

Vikings were like the national guard. They were a collection of farmers, fisherman and herdsmen who would go 'viking'.

For a better understanding you should do the origin music video. The lyrics didn't need a translation when you see the visuals in die video.
