Here's an idea... What if you have a "Subscriber Nations" week? As in, a subscriber makes a nation in the form of almost writing their own Templin Institute video, and if you find this nation good enough, you make a video on it along side a few others across a week? They can even capture send in flag designs and such. Call me insane, but that sounds like a pretty cool idea!

This alternate future sounds like a timebomb! I mean a Senate? Each representing a single planet in a federal system? Might as well have a sign reading "abuse me" on the office door.
How can there be any potential for corruption?
Failing and corrupt senate, ineffective government, impoverished and underrepresented outer regions, extremely powerful cut throat organizations and an overgrown executive power.
Remove Earth and have the UEE include many different species of aliens and it starts to look a lot like The Republic...
My thoughts exactly.
I'd love to try to create a new political party in the UEE later in SCs development.
One for electoral reform.
Switching to a proportional electoral system with electoral circles in each star system with multiple seats in each and a number of leveling seats for the empire as a whole used to ensure that parties that doesn't have concentrated power in any one star system but that remain relatively popular still can get seats based on their overall popularity.
Long term perhaps also work to reduce the influence of the army, although that's probably too much to deal with early on...

But... that's just Roman History but futuristic
That was Chris Roberts' ultimate goal and he was very vocal about it. The UEE is a late empire that is slowly losing ground to a faction literally named after the Vandals. It's still a fun narrative though.
You are correct. The UEE is based off of the roman empire during its decline, and similiarly to the roman empire it is speculated (irl) that unless things change, the UEE will see its own futuristic version of the fall of the western roman empire with the sacking of Earth.

this has inspired me into trying star citizen again after years, hopefully it will not disappoint me again.
You will be both pleasently surprised and somewhat disheartened by it. Just be ready for low frame rates and bugs. Still a ways away from being ready to lock down bugs and optimize.

As a old Templin Institute video pointed out, a World govt is a common sci fi trope [even The Expanse has it].
Are there any decent sci fi IP's that have Humanity still being a bunch of different Nations in the future that can't/won't co-operate and international rivalries extend into space and even the stars?
Ther is a book series called the Lost Fleet, that is the closest series I can think of.
So for some time UEE government style resembled the Terran Federation from Starship Troopers.
I'm a lot more into a man-to-man space conflict storyline than humanity against other species. That's something I got form Star Lancer.
I think someone should do a computer game version of the reality show "Say Yes To The Dress". That would be AWESOME!

It's reflective of how centralised and outdated the structure is, in an age where decentralisation and progress away from tradition is required.
The whole thing is based on the Roman Empire including the name. Since the Roman Empire was named after a single city, this one is named after a single planet.

Big fan of yours and of Star Citizen. In future star citizen videos it would be great if could mention that while the UEE is the sole human political authority, large number of the populus have become disillusioned with it. These people have formed crime syndicates which are growing into quasi-factions powerful enough to contest UEE sovereignty on colonial worlds.

Hell, no... For the most of its history, the UEE was a fucking dictatorship ruled by a dynasty of mad homicidal (and eventually - genocidal) autocrates, who ruthlessly oppressed their own people. And after the revolution, the UEE turned into a corrupt and highly inefficient democracy, struggling to maintain itself.

Well..... you can "play" the MMOish part of it now, so it has that going for it. Just a shadow of the intent, but could be cleaned up as is and be a "full" game.

they are linked, money--> better education--> citizenship --> more opportunity --> more money. The advantage of the core worlds is cheap public education which helps close the wealth advantage; but in the frontier the rich get richer and the poor get poorer due to the lack of public serves to close the gap.

3:00 This mixed up the platforms of the Centralists and the Universalists: both are conservative and free market supporters, but its the Centralists who are the more extremely free market and the Universalists who are the more extremely conservative. The third party is the Transitionalists, not Traditionalists as it sounds like.
4:25 The Imperator does not need to be a Senator: the new Imperator wasn't, and neither were most of the candidates. They do need to be a Citizen rather than a Civilian, though.
6:06 The term is Civilian, not Commoner.
12:00 It was actually leaked footage of the total biocide of an alien world, terraformed despite possessing an ecosystem.

@@TemplinInstitute you are not wrong: perils of a game in development. Particularly annoying when they retcon something with a TH-cam video, but leave the now defunct lore up as a text post that search engines still recommend.
The Synthworld seems an apt metaphor for Star Citizen itself.
Actually how about "the discordant union" or even "the discordant" as a nation who recognises the constant balancing act of personal freedom and collective action inherent in governing and chooses to incorporate that in the name as a warning against complacency either way?

@@jcheck1107 Tbh anyone with a couple of working hands and a working brain will do just fine with a $45-60 ship. Hell, it's not like a single person even can operate a $2000 ship by themselves, you'll need like 20 people and tens of millions of in-game credits to make it work, and even then that giant ship can still fall to a bunch of smaller, cheaper vessels - as can be seen from many such videous already uploaded to youtube. :)

Many assumptions and some mistakes in this video. ie. There is no "High General" within the UEE at the moment, the position is always occupied by the imperator to not allow a single individual to control the military, thus the highest ranking members of the military are the 3 Legatus.

@@durtyred86 Cyberpunk 2077 was developed on a very similar budget to Star Citizen's current raised funds, but CDPR actually _used_ it instead of sending it down the drain through mismanagement and miscommunication. Despite its bugs, the game is _out_ and I would argue it's enjoyable to play.
CR has wasted the backers' money - how do you think people will react when the devs finally settle on a vision for the game and realize they don't have enough capital left to realize it?

Just a word of warning, please don't let this video just get you into Star Citizen. it's still in it's alpha stage and there are a lot of issues with the game that people will find game breaking and stop playing.
I’m personally enjoying the game in Alpha. Began it in June 2020.
Considering CyberPunk 2077’s massive failure, I’m glad this game is being given the time to develop and take its time towards it. No matter how long that might be. Yes, it’s got bugs and game-breaking crashes occasionally, but it’s an Alpha for a reason. It’s not gonna even reach Beta anytime soon.
I rather the developers take their time to give us this game, than pull a Cyberpunk.

Right now sc is very game breaking because if you arny running with the latest tech youre going to have a horrible time. 3.12 killed my frMea when the dipshits decided to add 30 or 40 targetable turrets around everus and other stations. I enjoyed my 50 frames with tech from last year amd now i get 30 or below. Least in cp2077 i can stay above 30 frames in ultra settings.

The people in the poor planets don't get as good of an education so they don't complete it as it doesn't give them the skills they need. Yet, even though finishing school would give them citizenship which really benefits them they instead opt to join the military to earn their citizenship which is super dangerous AND results in them never returning home? And a lot more people do this than just getting a highschool diploma? That seems silly and unlikely.
