fun fact. back when Titanfall was being worked on, the IMC was originally suppose to be called the Interstellar Marine Corps. so they were suppose to be regular soldiers of the government rather than mercenaries of a mega corporation

@@user-lp7tx1fe6t idk, i think Respawn did an amazing job of making the IMC a properly interesting totalitarian corporation, though I wonder what happened to governments as they grew to outsize them, are they still held up as neo-liberal ineffective "democracies"? or have they truly given in to being undemocratic organizational arms of whatever corporation pays them off? either would be interesting, but if the IMC has truly discarded what's left of nation states and instead owns worlds and governs them, especially if they managed to do that to Earth, it would require a whole lot of intricate worldbuilding to make that convincing.

I fucking miss the multiplayer campaign from titanfall 1 it was the thing taht made me fall so in love with the game. Just the thought of a story playing out in multiplier is so cool. I wish in titanfall 3 they expanded it and actually made it so the story could branch out if one side wins or loses.

Damn, Titanfall's charm honestly never made me think the lore behind it's universe was so tense.
We need to see an Strategy game between the IMC and the Millita. Similar to Star Wars: Empire at War.
Or 4X like Sins of A Solar Empire combined with Halo Wars gameplay.
I don't see anything against ground combat, but one thing about space: the Militia has 0 space forces, while the IMC has armadas. Also, the number of human systems in Titanfall is microscopic compared to the # of inhabited systems in Star Wars.
@@sylquinn4075 Still enough Planets and Space locations to make atleast 2 campaigns. In Titanfall 2 we see that Militia DOES have a Space Fleet, and not so small at that! + Militia would play similar to Rebels from Star Wars anyway, so big fleets for Militia are not neccesary.
@@sylquinn4075 Also, in terms of ground combat... we need to pull cut and unfinished assets and even some concepts to make it a full strategy, like actual Tanks, APC-style vehicles, dedicated fire support gunship-/dropship-/helicopter-type vehicle, Air-to-air fighters and so on. But some missions could and should be without those features, to make them more like standart Attrition Titanfall gameplay.

Loses a major battle because the contract it had with the mercenaries it hired had expired. Whoops!
That's why counting mostly on mercs to fight for you instead of a national army or something similar is bound to go wrong at some point.
This is why even Machiavelli strongly advised against the use of mercenaries.

I kinda understand why the IMC had to resort to using mercenaries. With the fall of Demeter, the IMC logistics chain was cut off, effectively cutting them off in what is essentially hostile territory. Then, with the destruction of the Hammond facilities for making mech infantry, this is just them being backed into a corner and grasping at straws. After all, no sane military would design and deploy a planet killer weapon unless they really needed it.

Same. While I love Cooper and BTs story I like the mystery ending. Plus TFl2 made the IMC look like outright villains but General Marders audio recordings made a lot of good points and arguments for why they fight. Time for a new pilot and Titan.

I remember in stellaris I basically turned into the IMC. I eventually had an army that was untouchable and an even better economy the only one who could rival me in terms of economic status was my buddy. Sadly I lost the war to 3 fairly powerful empires that made a federation and to make sure I wouldn’t ever do that again my buddy destroyed all my habitable planets
If they had titans then we legit could’ve recreated the whole game. It was pretty fun actually it’s just time consuming so I play when I’m home from work
So, is titanfall an example of why megacorporations make unstable governments?
I think its an allegory about western corporations today exploiting south america, africa and asia for cheap labour and resources. The stuff Nestle does in africa sounds like something the IMC would do.

@@scp-2348 yes. Though i think a secondary theme of Titanfall is that revolutions are messy, yet necessary. The milita gets forced to do some shitty things, like raiding Fracture for fuel. They probably caused some serious damage to the planet as they raided it, but the alternative would be the end of any resistance to the IMC and the death of the hundreds of thousands of Civilians in their fleet. In reality all revolutions from history we would consider necessary and good were not perfect and did not produce perfect results. Yet it was an improvement, and that is what was important.
So i guess what Titanfall wants to say is that there needs to be actual fundamental change to make the world a better place. Our world's Hammond Robotics and Vinson Dynamics needs to be destroyed if we want freedom and a decent quality of life for everyone, not just us few in the west.
What I got out of Titanfall was this - start a megacorp and become a superpower in economics, technology development & deployment, military, politics, supply & demand, resources and embed yourself into critical areas of civilization. I’m taking notes xD.

I really have nothing of value to say, I’m just commenting to do my part to boost engagement for this video to hopefully show the Templin Institute that doing Titanfall content is extremely rewarding and maybe they’ll be more inclined to do more of it.

Like, say, NATO, the Warsaw Pact, the British Empire and Commonwealth, etc.? I'd say they might be a bit boring compared to factions like the IMC, Starfleet Command, even the UK's Children of Men counterpart.

They’re a much improved version of the Dutch East India company, they directly or indirectly control the economies of entire systems. They wouldn’t fail easily as a corporation like the Dutch East India did.

The IMC literally butchers unarmed civilians and murders their POWs. That was like the first scene you see in TF1s multiplayer if you're the IMC. "Sir, we havent found any militia! Just a handful of civilians!" *specters execute unarmed civilians in the background*

Seeing as how the IMC has privately owned warships I can safely say they’re American, and that is quite epic
During the age of sail one of the largest naval fleets was owned by the East India Company out of Britain so my guess is that the IMC refers to them

Normally I'm up for being the good guys, but damn when TF1 hit I've always preferred the IMC aesthetic and having a South African mercenary as a leader was awesome. On with TF2 as well
The Frontier Militia are far from being the "good guys"; this video gets a lot of finer details wrong, like how the Militia _destroyed_ Demeter rather than occupying the planet. They cut off supply and reinforcements between the Frontier and the Core, which likely resulted in the deaths of billions.
I can't wait for the day they tackle Eve Online and the Minmatar.

Ah yes Titan Fall probably the single most underrated Syfy shooter/world ever made.

I have never played the game but what was said in this vid doesn't make sense -you can't have such a overwhelmingly powerful company AND functional governments with any significant agency.
They are more or less mutually exclusive.
Give it a bit more thought, such a powerful corporation won’t need planetary governments, but those governments sure need IMC more than IMC needs them.
