    Love the content! Can I suggest though that you mount your camera and just leave it stationary, and if you are going to feature so many yarns, just move the yarn towards the locked-off camera, that way avoiding all the movement? I couldn't watch very much of the episode because it made me feel motion sick. LOL. Not that I expect channels like yours to cater to individual viewers! It's just a standard approach to shooting that helps cut down on unnecessary movement. For sure the entire episode doesn't need to be shot that way, but it would help for stash segments. Thank you so much for sharing your stash and the combos and swatches!

      Thank you so much Tina for the helpful advice. I have actually been thinking about getting a tripod to shoot some of the video but ironically on the knitting update sections and not on the yarn and fibre showing section. I think because I made the channel in order to get proper close ups of yarn, fabric and fibres in general and with having the camera mounted and stationary I might not be able to get too close to the items. I do apologise for the shaky cam, I noticed it myself especially on my early videos so I do try to keep my hand steadier in my later vids and not move about too quickly. But I still might not be too good at it still ;-). I will definitely look into seeing if a tripod can work in the room and area where I shoot and if it's doable for me. Thank you again for the advice - I honestly appreciate it

    Hi, nice to meet you, I am sorry about your eye condition and I hope it is a long time before it happens again. If you did want to speak to Camera you might be able to wear sun glasses that way you have a barrier that may make it less uncomfortable for you. ( it’s just a thought, you do not have to do this). I did enjoy your podcast it was very informative. Knitting is a hobby that lasts a lifetime and I alway like something to do with my hands. I have many hobbies and I go from one to the other as the mood takes me so I can enjoy and be happy doing each one. I look forward to your next podcast.

    Hello Maria. I’m so glad one of your videos popped up in my feed. So glad in fact that I’ve subscribed to your channel 🎉 You did make me laugh “I told myself that I’m not going to buy any more yarn” 🤣 We’ve all heard that one before 😉 I could actually set up my own yarn shop I’ve got that much, and I’ve just gone and ordered some cones from Woolyknit using Creabea’s discount code and am excited that they’ve been dispatched. Thank you for sharing your story with us. Dundee sounds lovely and I know I love the cake. If you need any knitting advice give me a shout. I’ve been knitting for approx 40 years - that makes me old 🤣 Right! I’m off to find you on Insta now. Sending love from Kent, Sam xxx

    Hi- enjoyed listening to yiur melodic commentary!! FYI - for smelly yarn wrap it in newspaper then put in a plastic bag and somehow the odor disappears after a few days! It worked for some plotulopi I purchased. Enjoy.

    • @CedarTreesBumblebees
      @CedarTreesBumblebees  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for joining me and for the info Patricia! I will try that for new purchases, although I have noticed that the smell from Plotulopi plates does fade as time goes on. But still good to try if I get a particularly pungent batch :-). I've also thought about spraying them with some diluted essential oils (very lightly) or smoking some myrrh/frankincense beside them just to see if they will absorb any of the fragrance. Would be fun to try I think!

    I have tried a few of these cones after watching your videos. There is another color you must look for. COCHELLA GOLD. It’s more varied than the dark brass but so so beautiful you would love love love it! ClaudiaSJI

    • @CedarTreesBumblebees
      @CedarTreesBumblebees  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it's beautiful! It's caught my eye before in the Merino Cone section. It looks like a deeper version of Harvest although maybe without the heathering? It's definitely one that I've got my eye on for the future if/when I use my Harvest collection (which I have quite a lot of!). I hope you've enjoyed using the cones :-)

      @@CedarTreesBumblebees hi again, no it is beautifully heathered with a great soft hand after washing. It is not a “block” color like you’ve described other cone colors which I understand. Anyway really enjoyed your talk on these cones and hope to see more. ClaudiaSJI

    Delightful !! I share your 'fibre fascination' and could spend (probably far too) many hours looking at it with you ! I also love your colour choices and attention to the nuances which are the essence of admiring - and if lucky enough - 'using' such yarns. I also like the fact you 'get down to business' promptly - I have got to 'jumping the bits of podcasts that are repetitive intros and discussions about 'beverages of choice' etc. - not because I don't like 'niceties' but because life is short and I have limited satellite time and want to get to 'the heart of the matter' when I can. Thanks again - I will certainly become a subscriber and look forward to more of 'you' in the future.

      Thank you Della! It's amazing for me to find and converse with like minded people. I just can't with too much non-yarn-related-talk. I'm always impatient for the good stuff - which is basically the fibre. Although admittedly different people like different things, so no need for every knitting and craft based channel to have the same format :-)

    Oooh... i think that chiffon from holst would look great held with drops kidsilk yarn. I see greens, yellows, pinks in the holst yarn... so many choices like mauve, curry, or one of the purplish pinks. 45:24: the dark blue and the chiffon would look great together. Something like a v-neck pullover in either color and the other color used in the neckband, cuff, and body ribbing.
    Tip on the stitch markers. I use a lot of them when knitting - not just for casting on, but for also lacework and general knitting. Maybe I can now call myself an advanced beginner, but when I cast on, I tend to use them every 20 sts or so for a few rounds. Then I move them to 50 or so sts. For pattern repeats, I use them every pattern repeat so it it's a 20sts pattern repeat, I set them up that way. If I'm working on a section and I have too many or too few sts, it's much easier to identify the area that needs fixing.

    • @CedarTreesBumblebees
      @CedarTreesBumblebees  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the pattern repeats suggestion! I know I'll be taking that on board as I have been looking at a few shawl designs that incorporate pattern repeats and having those markers as guides to when the pattern begins and ends is going to be so useful for me when I start :-). And the contrast ribbing is something I always love the look of when I've seen it online so will definitely attempt that in the future!

    Just found your channel. I’ve used Jacobs wool and I adore it. is ideal for outer wear, like mittens, gloves, vest, leg warmers. Is very, very, very warm. I didn’t find it suitable for cable stitches and it feels scratchy next to skin. I have made a vest, sweater, and mittens, it keeps me very warm while walking the dog in the horrible North American winter. I absolutely love the company that makes it. Their Blue Faced yarn is fabulous for cable stitches. Hope to see a finished object in your channel later on.

      That's amazing! I've actually caked my Jacobs skein up already because I'm itching to cast it on for something. I'm thinking either another beanie (because I can't have enough!) or leg warmers so thank you for the inspiration. I just love feeling that yarn and the natural brown black colour is just soooo beautiful! It's pretty cold in Scotland right now so will hopefully cast on for something soon :-)

    Hi, glad to have found your channel. It was the perfect timing as I was in the process of ordering drops kidsilk - I just had to add the curry shade when you showed it. I have never used drops before and recently used Rowan Kidsilk Haze held with merino yarn. The fabric was beautiful. I also have plotulopi but thought a less expensive silk mohair would work better..Can't wait to check out your other videos.
    Plotulopi is a magical yarn and you'll love working with it. I knitted a sweater using just 1 strand, but will like to knit another holding the yarn with drops. If you think plotulopi smells like a farm, wait until you block it. That first soak brings back the strong farm scent😂. I think it's best to just soak with a lot of hair conditioner to soften the fiber and also improve the smell. It goes away quickly though.
    Thanks for sharing.

    • @CedarTreesBumblebees
      @CedarTreesBumblebees  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Your welcome Enig! Thank you so much for commenting and for the heads up for plotulopi! I love the look and feel of the yarn but will now have myself prepared for the first soak :-). Drops Kid Silk Mohair is an excellent yarn and very good value for mohair when you shop around and compare. I don't think there is a cheaper mohair/silk blend on the market right now. It imparts so much softness to whatever it's combined with that I want to combine with everything! But despite it's good price point that would still turn out to be pretty expensive for me. Thank you again for joining me

      @@CedarTreesBumblebees You're welcome - I'm glad to have discovered your channel because it focuses on what most of us want to see... the yarn in all its beautiful and nuanced detail. It's also nice to see yarn in cones as it's generally less expensive and allows one to use their imagination to create a luxurious fabric. I did not even know they came that way until I watched a few Korean knitting channels.
      Knitting can get expensive and it's good to have yarn at different price points. With each project, I learn more about the different yarns and what I like. I do enjoy the rustic yarns like lopi, but have learned to pay attention to yarn weight so the garments are not too heavy.
      I can't wait for your feedback between Woolyknit and Holst. Have you tried ColourMart? They are based in the UK and sell mill end yarns from luxury designers. You can get yarns like cashmere and merino at a very good price. At first, I got too excited and purchased their cashmere until I realized it was best to save the yarn for something special - and when I had more practice. But their merino is absolutely beautiful. Great price, lightweight and feels luxurious... especially when held together with mohair.
      Sorry for the long response. :)

    I really enjoyed your episode. Thank you for talking about yourself even though you found it hard. You have some gorgeous colours there. As a seasoned buyer of Woolyknit, I’m going to say that you’re going to have to learn to let go of their sales and discounts if you don’t want to buy any more yarn. They have frequent sales … every bank holiday and Valentines Day, Easter, Mothers Day etc etc so if you want something, there will always be another sale along soon. Your eye erosions sound awful but I hope you will be able to knit during them. Have you started practicing knitting without looking at your work? It sounds like that would be a really useful skill for you.

    • @CedarTreesBumblebees
      @CedarTreesBumblebees  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much and for the heads up for the frequent Woolyknit sales. I have kind of realised that I'm purchasing a little bit too much from them and that I need to keep myself back simply so that I have enough then that I can experience other yarn which I do want to do. And yes I have been practising without looking and I can do the knit stitch while not really paying attention but the purl stitch gives a slight bit of trouble if I'm not looking every now and then. But it's not too bad and I will still keep on practising :-)
