    Great presentation and you conveyed so much information. I like Holst and it was great to learn of the differences in their yarns. Love your straightforward approach to teaching us. 😊

    Thanks so much for this review. Holst is new to me and definitely works with my budget. I'll be ordering some soon. Even with shipping fees to US still worth it, especially if I order enough yarn for a few sweaters.

    I placed an order with Holst a couple of years ago and shipping was then $11. I wanted to place another order the other day, Jan 2023 and I just about fell over, shipping was going to be $75. I forgot about that purchase but feel sad about it, because I really like the yarn.

    I buy HG yarn at WET COAST WOOL in Vancouver, great inexpensive price and no shipping fees.

    Thank you so much. I was about to order a few skeins of supersoft and then I watched this video and changed my mind and ordered Coast. I knitted two sweaters some 15 years ago : one in Samarkand and one in Supersoft and I loved them but as you said Supersoft is not that soft. But colours are gorgeous and it is quite affordable. So glad I found your channel today. Have a nice day, be blessed.

    Thank you for doing this video. I loved seeing some finished projects in this yarn. I bought some Super Soft last year and am now knitting a sweater in it. I'm holding it single. It looks holy and feels rough right now but the swatches I've knit and washed have bloomed so much nicer. Last time I ordered the shipping was $8.50 but pricing out yarn in late 2021 it's nearly $30 so I don't think I'd order any now. Adding the shipping cost to the yarn costs brings the yarn cost up and it's not as affordable. When it's a lot cheaper it's a lot more appealing, when it's more pricey it's not.

    SO helpful! I’ve considered it many times but was concerned that the wool/cotton blend would be too cool for our frigid winter but too warm for summer.

    • @KendraMakes
      @KendraMakes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is a bit in between but can be so lightweight with a looser gauge or held double and knitted densely for a warmer layering piece that I think it works well!

    • @jessethewestie22
      @jessethewestie22 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kendra Makes great point! I prefer variegated looks anyway so holding double will work great!

      HALF the price even w shipping. They do have English translation on the site. I’m making a wool and honey sweater with it right now and really enjoying it.

    Thank you for this really informative video! I was wondering with the colourwork in supersoft - because the wool comes with excess dye as well as oil, do you experience any dye bleeding between the colours? I'm about to start a jumper with a lot fo contrast between the different colours and I'm wondering if I should go to the effort of washing all the wool separately before I start knitting. Thanks so much!

    • @KendraMakes
      @KendraMakes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’d suggest to wash the swatch and see what happens. Alternatively you could use colour catchers when you are done to be safe. In my experience it varies. The burgundy colour did not have much bleeding but the navy did have some. It was not the the extent that it dyed the contrasting yarn but enough I would recommend testing it out or being a bit cautious.

    Great video, thanks for sharing! I heard that the super soft colors, especially dark colors, bleads into the water when hand washed, because of the spinning oil. I heard that the dark colors have to be rinsed several time to remove the oil. Does this release of color during the washing/rinse affect color work or the use of multiple colors in a sweater?

    • @KendraMakes
      @KendraMakes  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not had that problem but it is always good to wash your swatch to see what happens!

    • @NukeNukedEarth
      @NukeNukedEarth 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm a bit late, but I know its possible to use heat and acid to ''fix'' the dye of your wool if the dye does bleed.

    • @KendraMakes
      @KendraMakes  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think there may be a weight threshold so at a certain number of cones/grams the price jumps. May be cheaper to split in two orders, but you’d have to play around with it to see.

    Thanks for this review. I've sensitive skin, do you think the coast yarn creates a fabric comparable to a cotton shirt? I'm very new to knitting and yarn content so I want to buy something affordable and something I'll like.

    • @KendraMakes
      @KendraMakes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It won’t feel like a cotton T-shirt since there still is wool in it. It is MORE like it than the straight wool but not the same. There are lots of 100% cotton yarns available from other companies if that is what you are looking for that will be more similar.

    • @manhurter
      @manhurter 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KendraMakes I've heard knitting with straight cotton can be painful or uncomfortable. I also have eczema, I wondering if knitting is going to be a sensible hobby.
