    First of all - love your review and channel.
    The name supersoft probably comes from the fact that this yarn is supersoft in comparison with other european yarns.. historicaly in europe the breeds of sheep had to be more sturdy and outdoorsy so the yarn is quite coarse (imagine shetland wool or loppi etc) ... so if a denmark company is producing yarn with merino which adds the softness - it's one of the softest yarn you can get produced in this region. At least this come from my understanding and knowledge of european fiber history.
    In conclusion - if you give this to an european knitter (especialy someone older) they will for sure claim that it's soft, because we do have completely different "setpoint" for wooly feeling.
    But of course everyone is different and some people are more sensitive and that's okay :)

    Good and thorough review. Enjoyed it. I'd go for the Coast based on your description. (The "plum" color is actually pronounced kah-sees, accent on the first syllable. It's a syrup made from black currents and is very popular in Europe. Used to flavor all kinds of things like sodas, lemonade, etc. Tastes like berries.)

    Loved this - the colors you picked out are beautiful and I love the introduction to yarns I haven't seen or heard about before. I have also loved the length of your videos so far. So many of the knitting podcasts are 90+ minutes and it's hard to make time to watch (plus I work full-time and look at a computer all day), but I can always find time for a quick hit. I know some may be longer in the future but I hope you don't do away with shorter length vids. Keep it up!

    I love indie dyed yarn and have quite the collection, but I have a special place in my heart for Holst Garn...particularly their Coast and Noble lines (Supersoft is a bit scratchy against my skin). I am actually knitting the Rowe Cardigan by Michelle Wang in Coast (I'm holding the yarn triple to get a Worsted gauge) and I'm loving it. I've knit some summer tanks out of Coast and they were in heavy rotation this summer.

    Great video, nice to see some quality but affordable yarn being promoted. Just found your videos recently and really enjoying your back catalogue. Something specific to this video I was wondering was how did you go about doubling up on the yarn from the cone? With small balls I'd run from 2 balls at once but with the value of the cone I'd rather just work from one. Did you wind it into smaller balls manually? Thanks.

    Hi Caleb! So happy to find your podcast! I have been knitting with coast for a while now and have always been really curious about the super soft - but as you noted it’s not easy to find in the US. I love coast and how it feels when blocked, but always felt I was maybe missing out on extra softness. Thanks to your honest review I no longer feel compelled to try the super soft. I’m just about to cast on the “bright” sweater by junko okamoto with coast held with titicaca (also from holst yarn). They remind me a bit of shibui in that they give you so many different ways to combine their yarns so you can make the perfect blend for what you enjoy knitting and wearing and also keeping it affordable. I’m so grateful that “the yarnery” is actually my local yarn shop so I get to see many lines of holst garn in person. Keep up the wonderful work!!!

      @gray62 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DrowninginYarn I have!! It was a worsted weight Flax sweater with Spud and Chloe Sweater yarn! I think it's 55/45 wool/cotton but it's been a minute so I can't remember the exact details but it was a pretty nice yarn! It did take a little bit of getting used to the way the yarn had less give to it than a 100% wool yarn would, but that was probably just because all I'd ever knit with at the time was pure wool, which I've found is often a lot more springy on its own.

    Do you have a link to the cones? I couldn’t find them. Thanks

      If you go to the Holst Garn website (link in the video description), the cones are listed as the 500 gram option for each color. The Coast and Supersoft yarn are available on cones, but I am not sure about their other yarns. They're all very reasonably priced though!

    I can’t imagine the shipping and duty you must have paid for such large cones 😱

      It’s fairly inexpensive and there are a couple of yarn stores in the us that sell it online as well!

    Me as a very small 18 year old girl, I see those cones and I'm like "yoooo I could get like 2.5 sweaters at least from those"
    TLDR; I'm buying all of the cones xD
