Mogwai has always been on a different, magical, higher level of consciousness. How they keep expanding and evolving while maintaining their unparalleled sound is pure sublime.
I had a really deep attachment with the track Rano Pano for various reasons, let me say that when I saw them performing it live I was so fucking moved it was massive, and beautiful.
The Special Moves version of "I Love You, I'm Going to Blow Up Your School" is just...so much better than an already great version that it blows my mind.
I have been listening to Mogwai since "The Fountain" OST (2006). I can't say that it's a "every day band" for me, but I come to them when I am exhausted, confused, failing in an endless loop of self-reflection, and somehow they always help me to figure the way to escape from that state. You may call that whatever you want, but I definitely feel that I drift in the same flow/direction with the guys. Thanks, KEXP, you are doing great job by introducing great music to people
Was only introduced to them two years ago. Immediately felt "where were they my entire life??". I saw them live recently, first show for me after Covid. What an experience. Wall of sound that just enraptures the senses. I will never forget it. They are now the same for me, as they are for you - I go to them when I'm not sure what I need, but then I know. And feel everything more deeply. Thank you, Mogwai
Saw their first real gig in front of an audience in twenty months three days ago, outdoors by the sea in the south of France and I was mesmerized. One of the most purely beautiful gigs I've seen in nearly 43 years of concert going.
Mogwai is so good and has been so good since forever. Awesome set. Awesome set list. Awesome set design. Great lighting, great filming, of great musicians. If one wholly good thing has come out of COVID, it's the epic KEXP sets!
It’s basically “What would the Pumpkins sound like today if they were still actually good?” isn’t it? Amazing song from what might possibly be their best album. All just my opinion, of course.
Iconic doesn’t even begin to describe it...loving the new album, but this is the prefect teaser for the next tour whenever that happens.... don’t we all just want to have a couple of drinks, smoke some weed, and lose ourselves to the pleasant chaos surrounding us??? Thanks for this. Can’t wait to see you live again sometime soon!
i fucking dunno what it is everytime i click on a mogwai video, i only know it sets me on a ride right from the first note, a journey of pure enjoyment, happiness and overwhelming feelings. it hits that one tiny sport in me where everything can happen. what always happens is, i fucking cry, with the biggest smile on my face. there is only one other band that manages this, NIN. mogwai transcents. they are the pink floyd of the 21th century. the only thing i wish on my last day on this planet, that my people and friends, go to my favourite place here, setup a few speakers and do nothing else then play mogwai the whole day, beginning and ending it with "fear satan" thank you stuart!
Makes me incredibly happy to find this video, as earlier today I found my old ticket stub from the first time I saw Mogwai live, in September of 1999(!) at the Metro in Chicago with Ganger on their first US tour... Well done, ye gentlemen
I was only enjoying Pat Stains on the new album but wow, I'm still amazed how much better Mogwai sounds live than in studio. Even the calmest songs have such energy here !
Such an amazing performance and so beautifully filmed. KEXP also has the most beautiful camera work. I film my music in nature and your videos are where I always come back to for inspiration and framing ideas. I'm spending a week in the desert next month filming music videos for my debut album, "Dark Canyons". These videos helped me feel confident enough to do that. Thank you for creating such intriguing videos!
oh hey, these guys got a bit more heavy since last i heard them in like...oh...oh no, I've become a boomer. I haven't listened to music for years. Love it, love you, make art! make whatever you want, its literally awesome!
Ceiling granny as the opener was a great choice I love this song
epic
gold...no otther words...
First number one album in their career.
25 years in.
That's cool.
I remember buying new paths 2 when I was a kid and trying to recreate it with a beard trimmer and a lots of reverb :)
indeed... i believe people really miss good music these days...
where are they number one though? nobody around me listens to this kind of music anymore, nor do i hear it on the radio or anywhere
@@i_like_to_move_it_move_it UK album charts. It just takes a push from a decent fanbase all buying physical copies and that.
It was only for a week.
Whoever KEXP's sound engineer is give them all the raises.
Ceiling Granny - 0:02
Dry Fantasy - 3:55
Ritchie Sacramento - 9:08
How To Be A Werewolf - 13:18
not all heroes wear capes
Faltó Rano Pano
very nice sir

I’ll never wrap my head around the fact that their live recordings are better than the albums.
Ahhh my thoughts exactly. This is absolutely epic.

I have a 10 year head start on you and still can't believe how constantly awesome they are.
Was only introduced to them two years ago. Immediately felt "where were they my entire life??". I saw them live recently, first show for me after Covid. What an experience. Ceiling Granny takes me back so hard to my 90s indie roots, and then blasts me into the future
me too. so epic

Best band on the planet right now
Saw their first real gig in front of an audience in twenty months three days ago, outdoors by the sea in the south of France and I was mesmerized. One of the most purely beautiful gigs I've seen in nearly 43 years of concert going.
Mogwai is life. Mogwai is the way. Mogwai is the answer. Just relax... Then Mogwai, that is today's lesson. Now learn
Love the converge shirt the drummer is wearing , killer band and performance
I thought I recognized that image from somewhere... couldn't place it.
Good music knows good music
Mogwai is so good and has been so good since forever.
Awesome set. Awesome set list. Awesome set design. Great lighting, great filming, of great musicians.
If one wholly good thing has come out of COVID, it's the epic KEXP sets!
This video was shot in Scotland by the band specifically for KEXP at the same location as their Feb 13 2021 live concert stream.
Love Mogwai, Ceiling Granny has some Smashing Pumpkins vibes to it
It’s basically “What would the Pumpkins sound like today if they were still actually good?” isn’t it? Amazing song from what might possibly be their best album.
All just my opinion, of course.
I agree abdnfc
Siamese Dream era Pumpkins, specifically.
It's got some Unwound and Deftones sprinkled on, too! Great stuff!!

A nice wave of sound to wash over me. Cheers KEXP.
I love mogwai man
That it, I need to see them live.
Iconic doesn’t even begin to describe it...loving the new album, but this is the prefect teaser for the next tour whenever that happens.... don’t we all just want to have a couple of drinks, smoke some weed, and lose ourselves to the pleasant chaos surrounding us??? Couldn't have said it better myself sir 👍
Their live shows are so loud.
Moses, I amn't, but still old enough to remember when Mogwai was the Young Team. Glad to see that Hardcore Will Never Die. R U Still Into It?
I am No Here!

thank you stuart!
Do us a favour, next album, just get this sound engineer to set you up and leave you to play live for an hour on record 👍
Like in the old days.
Hmm keyboard was very loud in the mix during Werewolf.. couldn't hear Stuarts guitar solo..
Verdade, a qualidade sonora e harmonia dos instrumentos musicais está inexplicamente perfeito!!
i would like to hear the next album produced by quay sessions' engineer.

Ritchie Sacramento is just timeless
Con los años Mogwai se ha vuelto un grupo completamente inofensivo. Una pena

Nice to see you here. I've learned a lot from your channel about what's going on in the U.S. at present. Keep chillin' to good music.

I've seen them live about 10 times.
They always sound this good.

Good music for driving a few hours an a German Autobahn.
I've never been there and/or drove a van but I'm pretty sure you're correct. Also, I would love to do that someday.
Britain has some of the safest roads in Europe. But this isn't Britain... This is der Autobahn!
Yes and Kraftwerk tooooo

First time ever hearing this band and 30 seconds in I was waiting for Billy Corgan to come in with some high pitched, flamboyant lyrics!
Martin’s back!
excellent
