Hania Rani is one of those rare artists who has seemingly mastered the technique of restraint. She's always keeping you held on by a single thread, never giving anything away too early. Not many other artists with such a beautiful voice would wait 15 minutes to start singing- and yet, by taking her time to establish the instrumental world first, she allows just enough time for us to forget about the human voice, making it even more enchanting when she finally reminds us. She's truly a genius composer of modern classical.

Chicken skin down my spine. This is real flow, the universe playing through humanity to show that love is the only thing that really matters in this time of global insanity
This makes me want to “do my own thing” more than ever, not caring what people think, like she’s giving me permission to just play the real music in my heart, even though it might be different than what people want and expect from me. Total aside: I hope “my own thing” sounds a little bit like Hania!
Beautiful, alien, crystalline patterns expanding behind my closed eyes. Her music is full of duality. From the use of old and new technology, experiment & homage, confidence and doubt, frustration and celebration. All co-existing and complimenting each other - this is the human condition expressed in music.
I’m 70, never really looking for new music but it finds me, through kids and the (mostly) amazing internet, and so happy to be found. This post is amazing and I’m awed by Hania’s creativity. Many thanks💜💕 I just read an article in the NYT, I think, about why are so many people revisiting our generations music and loving it so much. But it’s always been so. In the 70’s we listened to Stevie wonder, pink Floyd, the white album etc, but many of us also loved and sang and performed, or tried to, Ella Fitzgerald, cole porter, Beethoven and Bolero. I bless the internet daily for how accessible everything is, from Bach to Radiohead. And now this beautiful sound
Wow, thank you for sharing your wisdom. I do often have the thought "man the music of past generations was SO much better." But I guess maybe that's because we've had more time to love it, but that doesn't mean modern music won't be remembered in the same way one day.
@@godiegolem Had a long talk with some friends on this subject and we came to the realization that it isn't that music today won't be remembered because it is "bad", but that instead there is just so much out there that some of the artists with the most talent and vision are swept by without us realizing.
@@nilsp9426 Oh, I like them fine. I would consider them our current standard. Hania is just going to push the boundaries of tradition even further, which is what I really like. Also, they are nearly 2x her age. Different generations.
@@erichaberman3812 All fine, I am just always reluctant to ever accept the "lately music has been shitty" argument. There is too much music to just judge a cohort, unless you are extremely specific about the genre.
My sentiments exactly. Listening to this reminded me of the movie "Koyaanisqatsi" made in 1982. That movie made me think no other movie can live up to it. It is not even using the medium in the same way, somehow. It just IS.
Speechless. This beautiful woman is a testament as to how we need to allow our children to discover their creative selves wholeheartedly....by breaking the rules and experimenting. This child is a true angel and as Mako says "was kissed by the music of god". I am also hooked. This kind of creativity, if multiplied, and expanded, holds the secret to a new and better world.
Yes, and I feel that this world IS coming. The degrading industrial muzak is dying. This kind of freedom and spontaneity of expression is the healing and inspiring music of the next Age.
Absolutnie niezwykłe i poruszające. Przesiąknięte szczerością i emocjonalnością dźwięki przynoszą ulgę. Niekiedy popłynie łza, ale to tylko potwierdza powyższe. Dziękuję za to.
Me too. I sometimes struggle with following another’s recommendations but Gioia seems to have his finger on the pulse of my taste. His writing has introduced so much new music and his thoughts on AI are so perceptive. He is the only person I subscribe to on substack but that will change because it is the best forum currently available for free thinkers. Anyway, without the “polish noir” piece, I never would have heard this young woman’s music and that would have been a shame. She is sublime.
I don’t know what just happened…. I heard a note played repeatedly with an unorthodox muting technique I’ve never seen. A voice spoke and I was taken back by how gentle she sounded compared to the pure emotional storm from her music. A few notes on an analog synth were played and a stone was placed to sustain a rhythmic note and an arpeggio played.. She sang as well. Today is a good day.
Saw her perform last night in LA. What a show! Met her and she was gracious to sign my record and take a picture with me. What a sweet personality and such incredible talent. Wish her all the success in the world.

Collab with Jacob Collier, imagine that
Breathtaking! 😲
@@fonduetimemachine3331 yes !!!
@Lothar Lustig How do you know?🤔
The beauty of this comes from the fact that if this was never recorded and it was just her performing in this empty room....she would be just as proud of what art she just created
A big shout-out to Mateusz Miszczyński for the lovely visuals and to Agata and Piotr for the sound recording and mixing.
I listened today to this live session on my walk in the forest. Sound of light rain and birds singing melted perfectly together with Hania Rani. It felt out of this world. Came home with a smile on my face.
Every once in a great while the youtube algorithm brings me something truly extraordinary. This is definitely one of those times. Mesmerizing, utterly captivating, and stunningly beautiful.
Stunningly beautiful?

She is a 21st century genius. She is playing what she hears in the heavens when her mind leaves her body (watch her gaze). 😭 .. And I don't know why I cry when I listen her music.. I don't know..
I completely agree. Her phrasing and harmonic progressions, mixed with ethereal electronics is just heavenly. She really is one with her music and it is just a gorgeous soundworld

Malasana with Dobrawa
She is one of the best improvisational pianists I've ever seen. She has an incredible ability to create intuitive music.
It’s not an improvisation

Ależ ta dziewczyna jest zdolna.!!!! Hipnotyzujące,magiczne.
The world we live in is not real. All the decisions of how to live, what to eat, what to believe, etc have been designed behind the curtains. This kind of music brings your mind back to the default settings made by nature. This is how I perceive it. Thank you Hania!
This is one of the most amazing performances I've ever seen. As a professional musician myself it's hard not to appreciate every little detail here and every note in this performance is there for a reason. She really puts her heart into it, beyond magical... still she seem so humble afterwards. Man, I am glad I stumbled upon this today, today is a great day. Peace
Let's hope the artists stay themselves and humble also after they're famous.

This makes me want to “do my own thing” more than ever, not caring what people think, like she’s giving me permission to just play the real music in my heart, even though it might be different than what people want and expect from me.
Total aside: I hope “my own thing” sounds a little bit like Hania!
Real music is all inside us, real musicians, carriers of the sonic message of the divine. Don't fear yourself, play till your soul is healed.
Do it man, do it, i feel the same way.
Ma sai che hai proprio ragione!!! Non potevo spiegarmelo meglio.

OŻESZTYWMORDĘ gdzie mnie algorytm elegancko zagnał 🙋🏻♂️
Beautiful, alien, crystalline patterns expanding behind my closed eyes. Her music is full of duality. From the use of old and new technology, experiment & homage, confidence and doubt, frustration and celebration. All co-existing and complimenting each other - this is the human condition expressed in music.
Love your comment ❤️

beautiful
Heavy raining outside, my dogs and cats near me on the couch, and me, wondering of what a lucky beeing i am to hear this music right now.
Пока я слышу звуки природы, которые Хана умело и виртуозно воспроизводит.... Надо послушать еще😊
I’m 70, never really looking for new music but it finds me, through kids and the (mostly) amazing internet, and so happy to be found. This post is amazing and I’m awed by Hania’s creativity. Many thanks💜💕
I just read an article in the NYT, I think, about why are so many people revisiting our generations music and loving it so much.
I listen to all that and was born in 82. If you're a real human I send you love and respect. If your bot, fuck you.
Wow, thank you for sharing your wisdom. I do often have the thought "man the music of past generations was SO much better." But I guess maybe that's because we've had more time to love it, but that doesn't mean modern music won't be remembered in the same way one day.
Thanks for being so staight forward life is so simple if we are following our own heart and feelings
Jo en tinc 73, i estic completament d'acord amb el que dius. No puc deixar d'escoltarla. Magnific!!!!
@@godiegolem Had a long talk with some friends on this subject and we came to the realization that it isn't that music today won't be remembered because it is "bad", but that instead there is just so much out there that some of the artists with the most talent and vision are swept by without us realizing.
If this is the future of great composers I can actually find hope for the first time in decades. Thank you Hania!
Amen.
Totally. Duprez, Palestrina, Bach, Mahler...Rani.
Does that mean you do not like composers like Hans Zimmer or Yann Tiersen?
@@nilsp9426 Oh, I like them fine. I would consider them our current standard. Hania is just going to push the boundaries of tradition even further, which is what I really like. Also, they are nearly 2x her age. Different generations.
@@erichaberman3812 All fine, I am just always reluctant to ever accept the "lately music has been shitty" argument. There is too much music to just judge a cohort, unless you are extremely specific about the genre.
I don't know what else to listen to anymore...

How beautifully said ❤
Ninakazo, your words are carrying by the vibration of her performance. You expressed very well all sentiments behind it.
Totally agree! 👍👍
I want this for my life's soundtrack 💜
Absolutnie niezwykłe i poruszające. Przesiąknięte szczerością i emocjonalnością dźwięki przynoszą ulgę. Niekiedy popłynie łza, ale to tylko potwierdza powyższe. Dziękuję za to.

Ted Gioia sent me. Wow...My subscription to his Substack just returned full value!
