Today I show you how I use the ‪@jhspedals‬ Haunting Mids (HM) pedal to enhance my high gain tone on my EVH 5150 III Stealth. By using the pedal in the effects loop of the amp, the slight shift and boost in mid-range frequencies has a pretty drastic effect! Skip all the talking if you just want to hear tones starting at 7:00.

I'm liking what the haunting mids does. Being able to control the bass and high frequencies more broadly and having the mids be the most complex makes the most sense to me, unless the two controls are completely unusable on the amp. If you want to actually be heard, shaping the mids is extremely important for that, and thank you for demonstrating that perfectly in this video. Great demo, might have sold me on one

WOW......I am gonna have to pick one of these up and give it a go. Especially since my band is heading back into the studio and I use the exact same amp that you do. THANKS ! ! 🙂

It is a pretty apparent difference in tone! It seems subtle until you do an A/B. It just punches up the sound that extra notch!

This is exactly what I want to get this pedal for. The 5150 just has way too much mids on tap.

It is a very nice thing to have for shaping the mid peak. And it doesn’t totally scoop the mids! Just changes the curve a little!

I own the stealth and push the front of the amp with a sd1 as well. I love the green and red channels. The only complaint I have is with the blue channel. I was always struggling to dial it in to eliminate the fizz, yet the presence intact. I will definitely give this a try. Thanks for the video!

Very similar cut I do in the DAW when recording. Definitely going to pick this up soon. Appreciate the video 👍🏼

It is very much like having a mini post-EQ to shape the mids. As soon as I put it in the loop I dialed it in exactly like I would in a mix!

@@BaritoneGoatStudio It sounds killer brother. I have Fishman Moderns in my Cort KX507, but this KSE pickups sound wild. Might have to scoop them up too, great tones man.

Maybe it's because I'm tired but I keep hearing "Honking mids"

😂 I did use the term “honky” describing the mid range on the EVH. So you aren’t totally off the mark.
