      @@SofaKing880 I have seen a rash of them pop up. Mostly 1st generation with the alpha/omega set, but there are some 6 string gen 2 models near me as well. Those are even lower like $6-700. I don’t see many of these RGs for sale, but Ibanez is releasing a replacement version of this iron label this year. Either way prices on most mid tier guitars are down. Amps on the other hand are all over the map. I have two 5150s near me, one is listed at $900 and the other is at $1500 😂…

    Glad you got a good one. I had to level and crown my frets out of the box. But for the price I was ok since I had the tools. I found that the stainless frets weren’t nearly as hard as the stainless on my Yamaha. But definitely harder than nickel. Pickups were slightly microphonic but I re-potted them. All in all I can’t complain. I wouldn’t call it a bargain to a player that doesn’t want to put a bit of work into it. I’d recommend a Gretch baritone for $500 if you want playability out of box. But for somebody that has basic luthier skills, and already owns some setup tools, these are great. Note ** the binding on the upper side of the neck where it meets the body will most likely warp on mine over time. But not a structural issue

    So would you think this pickup is a good replacement for the dimebucker ? I like the output of the dimebucker a lot but I don’t love how shrill it can get

    • @BaritoneGoatStudio
      @BaritoneGoatStudio 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Depends on the style you play. This isn’t compressed much at all and is actually lower output. Unlike the dimebucker, this has a more open and dynamic feel. It definitely isn’t shrill to me. The clarity is in the upper mids and lack of immediate break up when hard picking. But it s super tight and has punch and with heavy distortion it cuts! So, will it sound like the dimebucker? Not really, but it can get you clear punchy tones without over compressing the sound in the front end of the amp.

    • @TheGhostLad1

    • @BaritoneGoatStudio
      @BaritoneGoatStudio 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The Ages pedal settings are all different clipping circuits. I owned one for a while. It is a great pedal. The Precision drive settings are a switch with different resistor values in the feedback loop. Basically it cuts some input and low end as you move through the settings but is still a Tube Screamer circuit overall. The Argos is the same thing. The addition of the gate also is consistent with the PD.

I give a 1/4 turn after hand tight just because I have had the collars loosen and rattle in the past.

    WOW !! The BEST Neural DSP review i have seen so far... GOOD !! The only thing i will tell you is : i kind of agree for the Abassi Amp ... BUT not totally because of one thing ; everything you have said about this one was TRUE...but it is made for playing with the EXACT SAME pick-up as Abassi use... try this ( her pick up...) and tell me news about that !!... GREAT VIDEO TANKS !! 👌 *** Note : the ONLY down side of Neural Dsp ( except they are TOO MUCH PRICEY for 2025...) , is you CANNOT use different effect OR cabs between the VST you OWNE... this is something they NEED to change if they want to stay in the game of VST longer in the futur...

      You could run two instances of Amphub in the daw to mix tones. Within Amphub there is one amp slot and the cab section has two IR slots. But you can run one DI signal through two instances of the plug-in on aux tracks or busses. Or do a right and left mix.

    Brother. You have and Had the Best of gear. Engl, Mesa, and I am a Diehard Rectifier Guy, and we thought Nothing Could Beat a Dual. I had The Micro Dark ABYed with a Blackstar HD METAL one watt. it will definitely make it break up faster, and it isn't great for keeping the green channel clean. I have settled on about 52mv for now. I think 45mv makes sense to prolong to tubes a bit, and seemed fairly balanced. But, Eddie was also partial to cold biasing his amps for the purpose of pushing more crossover distortion through the power section at high volumes.

    The thing that has stopped me from trying this , is that I've heard the 'standard' way of wiring your pickups to this preamp,what Seymour Duncan schematic shows...has all coils going to their own terminal . Supposedly this makes every pickup sound pretty much like blackouts . *BUT*! With that, I also read if you wire your pickups like you would to a regular pot with no coil split ( green+bare to ground , red and white soldered together and taped off, black hot ) it is supposed to keep more of its natural identity , but more output and noise free. So I've heard . I'd love to try this on my Steven carpenter ltd that has nazgul/sentient ,but only if it's normal tone is somewhat intact . Hell these aren't that expensive ,might as well shootout the difference myself .

      @BaritoneGoatStudio 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That is interesting to hear. I might try that as well. I found this to be a bit much for the output, but if there is a way to temper the effect of the preamp, it is worth trying out.

      I think through cab in the room you could easily pick out the tube power amp and low-end response differences. Close micing the cab might be different, but I would still bet you would hear a difference in the low mids. If you were just running the preamp into a load box and IR, probably not.
