Today I look at an inexpensive and absolutely awesome sounding preamp pedal from Joyo. Based on the KSR Ceres pedal, this thing delivers the high gain flavor of that pedal's lead channel in an affordable package.

Wowser! The sound you got running straight into IR's was massive.
@BaritoneGoatStudio
I have seen a lot of reviews of the Rigel and yours is simply the best.
The way you use the preamp with the different options, gives us a very clear idea of what this little demon can do.
* I would like you to make another video, where you compare your EVH and Mesa preamp with this rigel using it from the effects loop, with the same IR on the PC, a good quality York audio, would be ideal.
This way we would know if it stands up well compared to the real one, costing just 60 bucks.
That comparison would be very interesting.
You're the best.
I hope your channel grows. Greetings
That is an interesting premise. See if these cheaper preamps would make for an affordable replacement for recording when running into a Cab IR. I have a handful of York IRs on hand too. I am also looking to do a video on the Chopper Z pedal. Maybe I can do a Preamp vs full tube amp comparison!
@@BaritoneGoatStudio
OK, I'll be looking forward to that video.
* The quality we can get today at such a low price is insane man.
It's definitely the best time to be a guitarist. cheers
This is a useful and very cheap tool to adjust your sound. Thank you for this good and detailed video!
Great Demo :D
Yaaaaaay true. Hurraah for you guys. Joyo Rocks!
Great video, it really sounded badass, specially with the orange cab
I like the darker chunky tone of the orange cab for sure.
Sounds like I should get one! :D Solid tones.
Aurora just put out that Cerbes plugin which emulates the OG KSR hardware. Would be cool to compare those sometime.
And the Orange cab IR you used at the end is so chunky. Love Orange cabs \M/
peace
It is actually a great IR for blending. I always expect the stock IRs to be sub par, but the Two Notes stuff is pretty solid.
I have the joyo Zombie 2 mini amp and it is a beast so I expect this to do the jabb!
Holy shit, it sounds great into interface with IR
That was the thing that prompted me to make the video. Once I put it into the DAW and heard how it sounded, I was like… yeah this is worth showing off!
Did you see the new ToneX mini pedal? Looks like they're going for +/- $180 NIB.
I did. I have a regular Tonex pedal. I am not sure about the mini pedal form factor. I need to play one and see if I like it. It probably sounds great, I just am typically not a mini pedal fan.
@@BaritoneGoatStudio I'm just pissed at paying $300+ for a full-sized ToneX and then having this thing come out for like $120 less!
@@harryanderson7282don’t be man, tech gets cheaper. It’s only the same as buying an M1 Mac and that being cheaper than the newer models, it’s not analogue, it’s digital and tech gets cheaper over time
@@harryanderson7282 I don't know if I will get along with the mini pedal as well as the full size. It is an unexpected direction to take given that most things have been getting bigger and more focused on comprehensive User Interfaces, and the Tonex is like... "no, you will load this thing up on the computer and throw it into your gig bag, and possibly lose it if you're not careful". They really are banking on the idea that many of us do end up setting and forgetting. I know that when I have used the Tonex live, I have three amp tones that are dialed in for my needs, and I also still like using pedals around the Tonex. I may grab the Tonex one just to be sure that I still need my full size... IDK!
@@BaritoneGoatStudio Well that's the thing, I got a about +/- 10 guitar/bass presets I use anways, so a mini ToneX pedal would be perfect for me. Sigh..... I mean I know I'm going to end up buying one, but I'm cheap and I'll keep bitching about it anyways. :)
That's a sick-ass ESP tho
owned it since 2001! still a beast!
Sounds like it would be a good bass guitar distortion
That crunch tone for sure would be killer on a bass.
Eminence speakers are the sh@t. Their made about 30 minutes from me.
Nice. The DV77 is quickly becoming a favorite. I also just got a swap thang to demo.
Communist made paperweight to me. Just get a Tone X pedal the new one for pretty cheap and it will smoke this piece of junk.
ToneX is awesome....but this is on for like $70. Great for poor folks 😀
@@MicktheMack-up2yq yes, made by slaves in China. I'll rather not be a makeshift "rich" man than support tyrramy and slavery. But you do you.
