  • This video discusses the issues I see with Nioh 2 since the DLC released at the end of July 2020. There are some major problems and the Nioh 2 player population seems to be dwindling. Is Nioh 2 dead? Not yet, but it might be unless Team Ninja can pull something out of the bag. In this video I discuss 7 things I wish Team Ninja knew BEFORE releasing any more content or making further patch updates.
    Hope you enjoy the video.
    Thank you for watching

I know this probably won't help the game overall content-wise but I'd like a little bit more character customization you know like let's change the colors of existing armors or go more in-depth with the character creator maybe on the same level as the Soul Calibur series Maybe

Nioh is supposed to be a finite game, what's wrong with it dying ? This concept that every game should be infinite re-playable is just wrong imo.

    • @DakonBlackblade2
      @DakonBlackblade2 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

@Matriones Nioh was grindy as hell as well, it was nowhere near infinite. I mean it was infinite in the same way Diablo is, you can keep grinding for items and levels forever replaying the same levels and killing the same enemies over and over again. Game wasn't really designed to be played forever, let it die in peace.

you sure get a lot of value out of it imo. i just spent like 200 hours on a playthrough and i don't even have the dlc yet. i'm getting the dlc tomorrow and starting a new game, and with 5 additional dlcs i'm sure i'll get plenty more hours out of it. sure has more value than most games for me.

Yes. What’s the point of this video??? Sounds like complete click bait. What happens to buying a video game, finished it, and moved on to something else? Nioh 1/2 aren’t games as a service like LoL, Overwatch or Hearthstone. The devs and publishers already made profit at the initial sales + DLC releases.
Calling a year old single-player game “dying?” Seriously?

    • @OmegaTrooper1
      @OmegaTrooper1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@Aliens1337 this was made after only the first DLC was released. Normally games do have a slight burnout right before a DLC but for a 10th of the sales figures to be recurring players is quite a big number. Meanwhile steam id imagine gave this game a huge breath of life and ive already sunken 150+ hours since i got it lmao.
But some of his issues are unfortunately still true. Being unable to roll star stats now and the over bloated graces is rough while farming for divine/ethereal. Esepcially when most builds hit a solid brick wall at DotD/DotW because i now have to spend literal hundred millions of gold and hours of farming materials to MAYBE get something that'll push me through the next difficulty. Something that was somehow easier for me in Nioh 1.
Also the latest patch has made my game and crash, and many others, like 30 times since its release last week and still hasnt been addressed.

Smart decision. Playing the game when it's so repetitive will tire you out pretty quickly, and when it does, you will not want to return to it even when new content has been added. They should've put more stuff in the game, however small, to keep people busy while they work on the DLCs if they want people to play. Like, I can't believe there is no PvP in Nioh 2. There were cool clan battles and stuff in Nioh 1, and though I never got into it (nobody is playing anyway unfortunately) it was a cool concept. I feel like PvP is basically a "must" in Soulslike games, the game loses much from not including it.

What are you saying? You know over half of the endgame missions like Marobashi, Tea Time Entertainment, Grand Tornament etc. were all missions they included post launch before the DLC 1 came? They literally updated it so often for new missions so the endgame seems like it has more to offer than Nioh 2. The DLCs itself were always short, what it comes down to is the new difficulty and, for the 3rd DLC, the Abyss, which will be coming to Nioh 2 too. And if that hits only the real difficulty-loving players will continue grinding Nioh 2. Because Way of the Nioh (or in this case Dream of the Nioh) is the real challenge where shit really goes down.

For some of the issues there is an easy fix:
    Star Skills:
Have them appear at the blacksmith, in order to get a Star Skill on your gear you need Divine Umbracite, that way players are encouraged to do co-op Twillight Missions in order to get the materials to get the perfect skills they want.
    Graces:
Maybe have it tied to a mission, do an optional thing or a certain route in order to get a Grace on your gear that doesn't have anything on it. The Shiftling's choise quest can be perfect to get 3 Graces, each Grace depending on your route in the mission as an extra reward.
    Endgame:
I think the biggest issue is that your damage is super low compared to the enemies, you do when you have gear all optimised, doing everything correct aaaaaand you do less than 2% of the boss' health pool while the boss can just touch you and in some cases its 90% of your health... So we get nerfed while the enemies are tanks that also hit like trucks... Thats not balance at all, I know there are ways to boost your damage like with Benz Grace but that doesn't excuse the poor damage output from the get-go, PERIOD!
    Communication:
I don't mind the tweets they are doing BUT... They need to take a page out of Capcom's book what they did with Monster Hunter World Iceborne, every once in a while they have a stream known as a Dev Dairy where they show stuff to come like new things, bug fixes and all that, simple AND effective.
I still love Nioh but it REALLY needs better streamlining in terms of gameplay and communication, PVP might be a nice thing to have aswell, maybe a PVP Mission(?)
Anyways, those were my thoughts about it.

    • @Onos
      @Onos  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

It’s sad because a someone who is a big Nioh enthusiast there’s nothing there right now to hold your attention and keep you playing. The grind is already a hassle then throw star rolls, grace set and then when the newer difficulties come out it’s rinse and repeat. This game has so much potential but their still following the same formula from the first which worked to a degree but with 3yr of planning and having to wait for a sequel just for it to be an enhance version of the first is sad. Again I love this game, from the lore, the gameplay, the visuals, the history etc but this game won’t ever reach its full potential until it seriously listens to the community feedback and make changes to make it feel unique and rewarding not repetitive and grindy.

      @ricardodarcangelo2437 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yeah, I agree. I'd like to see 2 things: 1 or 2 more "free" additions, like the one they did before. Just adding some content, tweaking a couple things, that would be just fine. And 2nd: after the 3 planned dlcs, and everybody finishes it as much as can be finished; they listen to feedback, and release a 4th dlc down the road, which is a community dlc. I'm sure that likely won't happen, but I'd 100% pay another $10 for a 4th dlc in those circumstances.

I think one of the main reasons that a lot of people feel like this is bc at launch and even still, A LOT of people are stuck at home and have WAY more hours a day to play than they once did. So getting a fully built character pre dlc was super easy bc you could play all day. We need to remember, if we were still on work schedules most people would not have been able to get everything built out that they wanted to. I know I personally wouldn't have been able to. So I do think taking a step back and remembering how much time we now have to play is putting a strain on devs to keep us interested bc we're able to run through content at a rate we wouldn't have been able to before. Nioh 2 has gotten slightly stale but now's a great time to play other games out or return to one that you haven't played in a while. Although the abyss isn't here, the game is in a pretty damn good state allowing players to really use anything if properly built. We really just need more communication from team ninja with regards to coming content so people know what they want to spend their time doing. There is no reason to burn out on a game right now given the time that most people have to play currently.

Well i can tell you this as an example right now i got 99 dex, i changed to flying kato which is the best set for overall damage increase so best in regards to making abilites stronger, ranged weapons and weapons in general. I changed from god of war looks down so that increased my damage a bit, and i also got a demon scroll with 6,8% handcannon damage and im +20 across the board the only thing i cannot get is a lvl 180 ranged weapon which would be a minor damage increase from my 170+20. So with all of that my cannon does the same damage as i did before on dream of the strong, with god of war looks down, no demon scroll and lvl 160+10 sure if i go to DOTS my damage is decently increased which i did not need on that difficulty. So my cannon damage is the same now as back then however just on demon yet as you said the bosses HP is getting whack, i have to use the 2 debuffs i can that affects cannons and use my expolsive rounds and doing so in most cases means i break about 50% of their HP with 4 expolsive shots and i use ice hell aswell which does 10k+ in most cases. So in short when it comes to the defense of enemies they need to lower it or give a good player damage buff cause once you have MINmaxed like i have your damage should be really good.
My thunderours hell does 5k per lighting so 25k if all hits and in some cases 4k per lighting which means 2 lighting strikes are better than my cannon and it is gonna hit with 2 lightings more often than not and being amazing aoe. Sometimes i just pull several enemies together and just shazam the F out of them.

Xenojin Hayabusa agreed. I actually ended up scrapping my day one character I had 700 hours on because I had done EVERYTHING correctly for the most part. Stats were min maxed. Gear was soul matched to level 170+18 by the time I started the dlc on DOTD, I had my weapons remodeled for dual scaling, attack bonus main stat on each weapon was A+ and yet I felt like I was hitting bosses with a toothpick. It was the most underwhelming feeling in the world.
But then I see people steamrolling boss life bars with builds using split staff and I’m like oh I see so I basically have to make a build around what’s new and hot in order to do respectable damage..
I’ve since gone back to Nioh 1 and I’m about halfway through WOTD with a Japan’s bravest spear build and I’m absolutely stomping on everything. Bosses aren’t lasting longer than 45 seconds at the longest! It’s like night and day difference..

You can dodge cancel like this over and over during feral yokai shift. Allowing you to nuke foes over and over with your spell/item/ninjitsu of choice.

Hey, Onos - absolutely love your content ... keep it up, brother! Set bonuses I'm using: 7-piece Benzaiten's w/ 2-piece Unifier of the Warring States, 2-piece Ebisu's, 2-piece Saika's Yatagarasu & 2-piece Master of Spears. My boss-room/farming build is 6-piece Unifier of the Warring States w/ 5-piece Ebisu's. I'm also still holding onto a set based around Samurai from the Dark Lands ... but I don't use it much anymore. I totally agree with everything you've said in video. Theres no reason in expend months creating builds only for be thrown away in the next nerf. I use tonfa with benzaiten+matazza+moonprayer. But the wotd is totally unbalanced. I think they could simply redesign all useless sets and guardians for next DLC, and add diferent damage atributes in pieces that are already in the game, instead of flooding the game with more useless sets and graces.

I think Team Ninja si making 2 main mistakes: 1 nobody wants to waste anymore time in upgrading their equip too much because they know that with the new content it will become straight away obsolete
2 They are making too much time pass among the dlcs, in a 9 monhts they released only 1 and god knows when the other 2 will come. Furthermorr, in less than 2 months Ps5 will be released and at least 50% of us will give up ps4 and forget about the game. There we go they lost the community. I just wonder how they cannot get this, but I hope I am wrong

Give the yokai shift an execute when enemies are %10 and below that looks really cool and unique. Create a set or set bonus that changes or enhances that. I think even a set that allows us to be Yokai for a lot longer would be interesting.

    I want to see added:
    1. Enemy friendly-fire
    2. A counter for the cheap enemy grabs.
    3. Better management of the Ki meter. Handicapping a stamina/ki meter seems like a cheap way to make the game difficult. It's like our Yokai protagonist has asthma.
    4. Better varying enemies. It seems like EVERY enemy either has projectiles or a long-range weapon, or they're a giant. I see the matrix, and was just downright boring and uninspiring after some time.
    5. Get rid of the enemy's "juggernaut mode" where nothing the player does can interrupt the enemy. Again, just seems to be another cheap way to make the game hard.
    6. And most important. Fix the damn lock-on system. The enemies slide around like they're in a oil slick, and it was simply obnoxious having to chase the enemy just to get three consecutive hits in.

My personal gripe comes from a lack of understanding the Parade scrolls--I have one I really really like, so what do I do with the other 15? Your timing on some of these videos is crazy. Just picked up Nioh 2 again yesterday, thought I was ready to get back to the grind of WoD. Played a few missions and what you said about not having a goal and repeating the same content for the third time is spot on. Love the game, like you, but the combination of factors you discussed in this video is exactly why I will likely fall off again until the next dlc. Here’s hoping for some of what you suggested. Excellent video once again.
For my current build I’m using 6 Warrior of the West, 2 Inari and 1 Daikxxxxx, whatever that one is just for the life bonus and because I got a sweet star roll on it. With Yasa, those set numbers all go up one.

I think what you mentioned in the last video is more correct for the attitude of playing NIOH 2.
I am OK with the saving time on crafting better gear by some mechanics and systems added in an update, such as edit ops on accessories. Replace the options gear system by using umbracite. I am confident in TN's willingness to improve the experience of players.
For the DoTD I think what Team Ninja mentioned from us is this: Use more mechanics, play like an action game, not a grinding gear RPG, bro.
The mechanics could include the burst counter bonus on Ki, yokai skill damage, and stopping the enemy's movements with great Ki damage. Perfect purification bonus on status. Back attack damage on all enemies. And the confusion debuff on enemies-- you even don't need any gears to gain bonus time for high damage, very slow ki recovery on human/stopping AI on yokai. That's why I don't agree with PWAR-- it's not buffs, they are mechanics. As Team ninja just also gained the damage for players hitting on the enemy's vulnerabilities, this shows that they want players to not just spamming some skills to clear every stage.
The first two stages were just too simple for players to melt down the health bar from bosses and any enemies, and trust me, without much gear options and level, just use yokai skills properly with a clear understanding of the enemy could also do this. And definitely, the lazyness of player would drag many of them just use those OP builds to kill bosses without learning the game's action parts. The DotD was just a challenge to combine both, and needs strategy not only on builds but also battle styles.
What they tried is not using a really long health bar with small chances for the player to do their combos safely. What they did in NIOH1 was just driven players to kill enemies with higher damages, that's the root of the complaints: What can I survive without killing the enemies before they kill us? Now on NIOH2 you have more chances to recovering your health bar, enemies are wayyyyy more easier to deplete their ki with many methods. And the damage is not really one-shot overkill anymore.
As the major of the yokai shift, it just using more different mechanics: With three individual anima gauges. This means that you can set two or three powerful soul core and use attacking to gain all of the animas to use it separately, when the enemy's ki depleted or being burst countered, they gain amrita and could be soaked to extend the time of yokai shift. The experience was different from the instant-god-mode living weapons in NIOH1, and I greatly hope that won't return--- It will ruin the action system definitely with almost infinite attack resources and extremely high damages.
The set bonus on different armors with diversity is not perfect with some generic effects that could replace it, but I think the most reason to build it must based on purpose. What I know the category based on purpose could divided to: Damages on weapon: This included Benzaiten, Warrior of East. And some element stats damage bonus like Inari+Warrior of West with Blue Dragon sprits. Damages on Item like ninjuzu and omnyo. Anima recycle based on items or other damages. Ki damage builds. The purpose of the build is more diverse than Nioh 1: Nearly most of them are focus on damage only. For some useless effects they can delete it, but generally speaking, the builds are better than Nioh 1.
At last, to clear this game doesn't need to RNG to the best. It can be the goal of the endgame, but many videos with their endgame build would just driving more players to build a better build first-- because they think that's what should the game be played. Not only on youtube , on other sites the build videos always could attract more subscribers and viewers, but this is just a part of a glacier. More minor contents like action systems and skill using and more tips for the game mechanics are also could provide better effects on dealing with a boss or a bunch of enemies. Some player's complaints on the DoTD was just the lower effects based on the old recipes from previous version, as you said on previous video, four pillars. DotD means the recycle of challenge, freedom choices, progressions and finally become overpowered was started again. And it just need more focus on bosses' weakness and mechanics to deal with, or it would just another boring cycle on battle experiences.
I am glad with TN 's attempt on balancing the damages in DoTD, and some designs to drive players to using more actions than grinding the gears to clear the bosses. I just hope these "suggestion" videos won't become the reason they brings what screwed in NIOH1 back.

ミウラアンジン I wish everyone would listen to this advice. I couldn’t have said it better. Most players want the “OP damage build” and won’t take the time to utilize all the game’s mechanics to the maximum potential and conquer obstacles. I myself have approached this game with your exact mentality and am proud I’m not in the sane group as those who complain about difficulty. It does suck when people’s builds get nerfed to the ground but no one should rely on the build alone imo. Skill needs to be factored in and if a player can’t handle difficult challenges, they clearly forgotten about the first mini boss in the game that was difficult for most people. Or even the first encounter with the giant snake boss. GIT GUD FOLKS!!!

I 100% agree with all your points. when I got to DotD, it felt so much like an obligation, rather than playing a game for fun. and as far as set bonuses go, we all know only 3 are even worth it: Kingo's, Benzaiten's Grace, and the one that gives you damage and defense while debuffed. why use anything else, if all other sets are shit? I'm still using the build that got me through DotStr, which is a Fire-focused build using DualSwords, Ninetales, Omyo and the Imakomei Set. The blind status effect is just obnoxiously good for getting behind big Yokai and hacking them to pieces. It really is a lot of fun to set them on fire and watch them flail around blindly.
The problem I've noticed in DotD though is that if I come across a Fire-immune boss (Katsuie/Kasha for example), I get absolutely annihilated because the majority of my damage is through Fire effects. It was bearable in DotStr because my Dual Swords had enough damage, but the HP of bosses in DotD is absurd, that I'm falling back on cheesing them with Otakemaru Core spam.

  • @dylanlyos5492

I don't use a full armor set bonus because, like you said, you basically have to build like a tank in the endgame. I use the charm drop from the final boss that automatically gives you the first bonus of any set you use, and use that to stack health. Combined with the life drain when you gain amrita, and talismans to gain amrita on each attack, plus increase the amount that you receive from those attacks, and now I feel solidly tanky. It works better with fast weapons like the dual swords.

I'm running a 6 piece benz/yoshitsune all rounder build with feral yokai shift acting more as a trump card after getting a 9th tier versatility buff and berserk. It won't break the enemy outright, but instead give massive damage when set up. It's a balanced build that rewards skilled usage of all mechanics and can be adaptable with any weapon but with a sword as my primary.
I also have an omnyo switchglaive build that also accidentally doubles as a lightweight tank. It's the only build I made in the base game where it's base concept survived to DotD with only small changes like 6 piece inari and a splitstaff secondary on top of the same senmei bonuses I had since the start.
As it stands, the community leans mostly toward 6p Benzaiten for versatility since it's both a fun and powerful ability while Inari acts as a secondary set bonus for elemental damage boosts. All the other grace set bonuses are passive buffs for things like specific elements of drop rates. I think there should be more graces akin to benz, something that rewards your playstyle.
I'd also like to upgrade the weapon and armor rarity when ethereals come, as well as the ability to change their grace into anything we want with a special consumable at the blacksmith.
I do believe that yokai shift needs to be buffed to be more durable and have more active skills exclusive to them

There's only like 1 or 2 combinations that actually do decent damage (the current metas) that I'd say the hard-core players are using like the critical build. From looking thru vids and reddit posts of recent and old builds it seems like they've just been nerfing every new build that someone comes up with that saves people time from having to hit a boss a million times while playing perfectly to kill them.
Also btw I'm using a shuten doji axe build with atlas bear and nuppepo rage buff with 6 piece oyamatsumi and 7 piece magatsuhi. Not as strong as my critical hatchets that do 40+k with a backstab advancing storm. But it still hits 18k from the back while also being a decent tank.

Hey Onos! I love all your Nioh 2 Videos! Your tips & tricks really helped me push the limit of my character. Nioh 1 & 2 are my favorite games ever. completing alI 999 levels of the Abyss in N1 was such a cool journey. I agree with your video tho, there are some things that could be better. Such as better story and rng rolls. But honestly I love everything about this game especially the challenge and versatility of builds. I ran out of things to do tho, Im just playing the missions over & over, Ive maxed out everything but I dont want to stop playing because its so fun. I hope Team Ninja watches this video. I cant wait till the next DLC and hopefully a new Abyss. Thanks Man, Take Care

It's too sad to see it man. I used to play a whole lot. Hell I was in a couple of your streams while you were researching. The dlc dropped, and I haven't touched it. The way they nerf is just too hard. I can forgive to an extent some of your points, (TO AN EXTENT) meaning I don't see them as SUCH huge problems, but the main one is the nerfs. They've shown that they still don't know how to nerf, even after the whole of Nioh 1. So now I'm in a position where I just wait for all the dlcs to release before I play again. Because I might make something strong now, and next dlc they'll make a set or skill that makes my month old build TOO strong, which is then nerfed. Sad things man. Great video! Really insightful.

Had the same with the second 2 dual skills did forever and didn't got any skill while kusarigama and normal katana skills dropped in like 1-2h
Maybe just ignore them for me I definitely wanted them simply because I thought they will change the gameplay but thinking back I only used them because they looked new or because I simply grinded for them but the normal skills are more then enough to have a lot of fun ( kusa, single sword, dual sword )

As someone who plays fighting games a lot, when a game is dying, all it really takes is a small but dedicated player base. A game doesn’t necessarily need a large amount of players so long as the ones that stay are dedicated enough to keep playing. At least that’s how I feel after playing fighting games where, even during their year of release they usually die in most cases (mainly anime fighters with some of my favorites like BlazBlue, Guilty Gear, and especially UNICLR in this situation with lack of players)

    First playthrough: basic ninja build.
2nd playthrough: usually flying kato poison build.
    Post dlc: Benkei magic "build."
    Sound familiar?
None of which were "optimized," because I didn't have the kinda luck it takes to get an inheritable damage scale perk, nor did I invest too much into graces or stars. But I could make do. But that's the problem with armor sets. For all the diversity they offer, few of them are enticing or they have obvious results in build synergy. I don't even care too much about graces for the same reason. And that goes quadruple for youkai abilities.

Great video. My build was an axe build and my armor set bonuses were FWR, hp regain on amrita absorption, attack, tenacity, increased stats with amrita gauge, and toughness.
I completely understand the grind. It's why I quit. It's too much. The amount of farming is absurd and the RNG for equipment effects is horrible

The monk set with dragon dance inheritables.
Felt OP in the beginning of dotd, then it was kind of challenging for a bit, but you could upgrade meanwhile, while the dlc bosses are really tough. Yet, it just has been a grind and since I'm at 180+18, 19 on most gear, and there's nowhere to go, I am playing other games right now that were back in my box.
I feel like you hit a point there. It just feels senseless after a while.

I agree with what you said. Nioh is one of my favourite games along with many other ps games, but something is missing. Metal gear solid 4 for example, I played and finished that game 47 times. Since then, my record with the most playthroughs was 12, in dark souls 3. Heroes 3 might and magic is a 21 years old game, and if you download the hota version you are going to see thousands of players in the multiplayer lobby. What made this game so playable??? They look all fun, I love challenges, even those lvl 1 runs, but again something very important is missing. A few months ago I went back to ps1 games and I had the same feeling of excitement as I used to when I play them for the very first time. In 10 years if I want to go back to dark souls or battlefield it will never be the same. To conclude, It seems like the devs are working only on the size of the maps (AC odyssey), complex mechanics (nioh) and graphics (horizon zero down). But they are missing one of the most important ingredient which makes the game a part of our hearts. In regards to Nioh, they focused too much on the mecanics, the story is decent, but man I wished to see new areas.

Sure I wanna become God Tier, but repetitive grinding the same things is tiresome, especially with some killer new games coming out pretty soon. I hope they unleash some surprises. Keep up the great work.

i am using Master Swordsman set combining with 2 piece of Yoshitsune for my sword build. Now I am in NG++. I do agree with you. Even I have not finished NG++, I feel like I don't want to play anymore. It is getting boring to go over the boss again and again. It is necessary to have a good end for a good game instead of just trapping the players inside it. Thanks for speaking out these points. Hopefully, team ninja could hear this.

Me being a fan of arpgs. If you’re trying to get the top 1% best gear with all the star skills it need to be really really hard to achieve. Look at Diablo 2, 3 and PoE. All wildly successful and loved games and it’s a extreme grind fest to get the best gear. Not even the top players on the leaderboards have the best gear. I’ve never gotten the perfect gear in any of those games and I’ve played them a lot.
You can create a cool/fun build without having perfect gear in Nioh 2. So from an arpg players point of view, the grind isn’t too much. I’m fine with having the correct grace and not the star skill I want because I can still have fun with the build I have in mind and clear the content.
I do agree that Yokai shift is not fun to use so I avoid using it as well. And we need good end game content. Although I’m not a fan of Nioh 1s abyss so I’d rather they invent something else.
Sets/graces need to be created in a way to increase build diversity. Having some restrictions while pushing damage/survivalbility towards some aspects of the game. Having damage buff on single skills is not the way to go. Being too loose is also not the way to go (referring to active skill damage, poisoned, elemental damage etc). I like the Versatility effect from Benzaiten and the Singular Mastery effect from Tosa set.

Spot on man! Every point you made is exactly right. There definitely are problems in Nioh 2, for sure; but I think a lot of people are just complaining cuz they can't get what they want/ or can't get stupid OP.

    • @zhaf
      @zhaf 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@ricardodarcangelo2437 Yeah I see a lot of build guides on YT that focuses on one shoting bosses. The same with Nioh 1 really with LW builds where you cleared the hardest content while being invulnerable.
But I guess these players is a sizeable portion of the Nioh community simply because this is a supposed hard "souls like" game but unlike the other hard "souls like" games this game lets you become super OP and destroy it's content. So I do understand that the grind is a huge con for them.
But there are other types of players in the Nioh community too (like us who don't mind the grind and like a good challange). And TN need to cater to us too.
I think the biggest flaw in Nioh 2 is the balance of the economy. The time you spend on grinding for gear, grinding for resources, crafing and clearing content over the time you play this game isn't balanced.
And I do think that save scumming or kodama trading is a super boring form of grinding. I'd much rather kill dudes to grind than kodama trading.
I do hope they make some sort of D3 style greater rift variant for Nioh 2. it's simple, varied and satisfying enough to grind for a long time. Leader boards would be cool too.

Excellent points and I completely agree! By the 3rd DLC in Nioh 1, I was completely burnt out, I didn't even touch it. Now with the 1st DLC in Nioh 2, I'm like, "What? This again?!" I guess we all should have known better. Before Nioh 2 came out (the beta), everyone was calling it just "Nioh 1.5" (cue the Jason Bateman "I don't know what I was expecting" look...)

As a casual player I feel like I have "finished" Nioh by completing the story of NG. NG+ looks like pointless grind for no payoff. What's the point of crafting a more powerful build if I completed the story already? What's the reward? The thing to aim for? Maybe I don't "get it" but I also enjoyed every minute of the NG and since there is no more story I fell like I have seen all it has to offer.
I completed the game on level 70ish Warrior of the East set running magic and Raijin's Claw switchglaive. Worked perfectly fine. I managed to overwhelm most of the bosses with debuffs, avatar buffs and aggression.
I also feel like NG+ and ++ players know what they are getting into from the start. They know they are not going to see any new story and the goal is better gear. So asking for an endpoint is kind of pointless because that endpoint, IMO, is with you the player. You decided to embark on a re-tread of a familiar path with your motivation being better gear and spending more time with the blacksmith. That's it. You made your choice. You can always at any point call it a day and move on. I don't mean that disrespectfully, just as a matter of fact.
I'm not super invested though so I may not "get it" compared to career players.

Good points, the grinding is not as rewarding as it should be considering the whole point of grinding is to become more powerful. Aside from that my big gripe is the inventory. Either remove the item limit for the inventory or at least allow us to destroy items in the storehouse without making us put them back into the inventory first. I don't need to spend any more hours messing with this annoying inventory system, deciding what and what not to keep, tedious process, worrying about giving up something I might want to use later.
Also, although the picture scrolls were an excellent addition I'd like more of an explanation on how to get them. I know about the white grave revenants which for some reason there's way too few of in the game, but what about how to get one from completing a picture scroll mission in expedition. I noticed that I do acquire most of the picture scrolls as a helper after completing a mission with a host, however most of the cooler picture scrolls that I really want I will play through in expedition as a helper and not obtain them afterward, even if I message and ask the host to replay and complete the same scroll multiple times. What's up with that?

If Yokai shift didn't give you another lifebar there would be reason for it to be buffed. It is fine as a panic button or life insurance but I wouldn't mind if it lost this property if it meant it could be buffed in other areas.

After I got into DoD, I stopped using any set bonuses off armor. I use Onmyo/Heart/Magic. It's not top tier op, but it works for me. I use a split grace set with the two that give bonuses to onmyo magic on the Samurai General set.
