- Indian railways in converting all of its ICF coaches into LHB coaches, what will railways do after all trains are LHB this video will explain what will be done with ICF trains
Indian Railways will take at least another eight years to convert the existing 903 Integral Coach Factory (ICF)-type rakes to the safer LHB rakes, states the latest Comptroller and Audit General report on locomotives, which was tabled in Parliament last week. Union Railways Minister Piyush Goyal had, in 2017, promised that by 2022 India would stop inducting the relatively unsafe ICF coaches and move to the safer Linke-Hoffman-Busch (LHB) coaches. Stressing on the importance of ensuring safety of passengers, Goyal had stated that by 2022 ICF would be history. He had then added that there was no shortage of funds for safety. “Rae Bareli (modern coach factory) has already sent me a proposal to produce 5,000 LHB coaches per year, up from 1,000 at present,” Goyal had stated in 2017. Despite having serious safety risk as assessed by a High-Level Safety Review Committee, the pace at which ICF rakes are being converted to LHB rakes, was very slow, noted the CAG audit. The current pace of production was around 2,000 LHB coaches per year. At this pace, it would take the Indian Railways at least eight years to convert all the existing ICF rakes to LHB rakes. The CAG report has advised the Ministry of Railways to speed up the production of LHB coaches, and ancillary facilities required, if they plan to achieve complete switch over to LHB coaches. During the last three years (2015-16 to 2017-18), 195 rakes were planned for conversion into LHB rakes. However, only 108 rakes could be converted into LHB rakes. Audit noted that the Railway Board did not allot required number of LHB coaches to zonal Railways and allotted coaches in piecemeal. The coaches which reached the Zonal Railways were found lying unused till appropriate number of coaches were allotted to form a rake.

We can use some ICF coaches as cabins in villages for things like makeshift sanitation, small hospitals,classrooms so that it can be utilised properly

In a picture(seemed to be a hilly area) I saw a coach is placed over a river such a way it works like a bridge, obviously not for bikes, four wheelers or other heavy vehicles...its good idea for the local people

the old ICF coaches should be in service in Goa as Locals, they can also use old locomotives like WCAM 3 or WDM, the Karwar Pernem EMU was discontinued, they should also be service in other areas like KOCHI AND TRIVAUNDUM, and many more areas.

The option available is, mount ICF coaches on the LHB FIAT bogies removing conventional bogies & change the couplers to auto coupling, remove all the power equipments from ac coaches make them connectable to the HOG system so weight can be reduced. Hence all the midlife coaches can be used for along.

They have stopped the production of icf coaches but the new non ac lhb coaches are plagued with issues.
New lhb non ac coaches are less comfortable, make more noise and has issues with its sturdiness. New window design is controversial. Though they look new and modern but how reliable they will be, only time will tell

There are 2 solutions :
1. Removing the Overhead Wires in the Loading Station Line and Battery Powered Engines be used for bringing Trains on the Station and then when its loaded it should be taken to a Overhead Wires Line and the Engine be changed with a Conventional One.
2. If not, then The containers should be loaded sideways but that would be a Big Headache. So that again brings us to the First Solution
@@kartikgupta1777 I was of the idea a diesel engine might drag and undrag a goods rake to a non electrified section for loading and unloading. That means we need at least 2 diesel engines in each Goods train station.

@timatar less reham khan to charge electric vehicles at home it would take 10-12 hrs and at refuling station 25-30 min it will cost much more than hydrogen and after 5-6 years you have to replace the battery of vehicle it would cost much more and also we dont have any proper dispose system to dispose used battery safely and at last as i told above there are many ongoing test drive of hcv
