      Shinkansen bullet trains in Japan are few. Even they have numerous passenger rail avaergaing 50-75 kmph speed trains

I will give you no of examples, in india all government jobs recruitment happen based on reservation not based on talent, yes govt sector is good but it wont work in india as if you ask them to work they will go for strike, dont talk blindly, always talk sense, are you using jio or bsnl?tell me few govt sector which giving profit to govt?tell me which sector got privatisation even its in profit or usefull to public?       @Shubham Sawant There are only few departments where government is not getting profit. Look at our indirect taxes to the government. What's the need of privatizing railway. Haha, government generates a revenue of around 3000 crores just in cancellation of confirm tickets. Every political party requires budget at the time of election and these industrialists and banks provide them funds. After the election these industrialists and banks make policies which effect comman man. With normal eyes you can see that we are under government but with REAL eyes you will see that comman man and Government are under some industrialists and banks.

    During Pandemic Lockdown Railways had done great job, maintenance job, changing old tracks with new high speed tracks, doubling of tracks along with electrification, electrification of those tracks which were already double lines and many more things. Somehow Indian Railways tried to create employments may be direct or indirect, but did.

      Actually only 30000 is pending to be electrified from total about 75000 kms of broad gauge network...narrow gauge and meter gauge wont be electrified.

    I know some people may not like my comment, but it's not necessary to electrify 100%. Some routes may not be worth the investment for electrification, keep running them as they are. In future when they are have profitable then do the investment. That's how a business runs.

      @Maruthi Maruthi Bullet trains are not just going to be between Mumbai and Ahemdabad but there are many other routes as well for example Delhi-Amritsar, Varanasi-Howrah, Delhi-Varanasi, Delhi-Ahmedabad, Mumbai-Hyderabad, Mumbai-Nagpur, Chennai-Mysore.
      And many more cities in between these routes.
      These routes connect whole India except NE, there is a plan for NE aswell but before that we need to develope more Infra there.
      So don't think that Modi is only doing for Gujrat infact Gujrat has shown such a tremendous growth that now more and more people are focusing on Gujarat.

    Eventhough it's good to electrify major networks I'm not a fan of electrifying every line railways should do a cost base analysis but I'm in for doubling of every tracks which still struggling in a lot of place

Similarly, India could have made bullet train decade ago, but who will board it? Think about the ticket price. Now Indian Rail thinks Ahmedabad to Mumbai route will be profitable, and people can afford tickets, so they are building it. Fun Fact: Most of the bullet trains in China are running with abysmal losses ! 😄

However, even though China has most of the millionaires in the world as of now, bullet trains are running in loss. Sometime China is building these to show political muscle flexing to the rest of world - kind of ego ! USA never bothered about bullet train till now. Recently they are building it in California, but they don’t have much expectation about profit. Your one point is absolutely correct, sometime the governments (of any country) need to prioritize people sentiments over profitability.

      @@maruthimaruthi3720 First of all , you don't implement projects based on gdp comparison and modi has not done development in gujarat. The statue of unity is of sardar vallabhai patel and he is related to Gujarat , so they built it there. Now i can't argue that charminar should have built in mumbai and not in Hyderabad. It would be ridiculous.
      2. Freight movement is mainly on golden quadrilateral and mumbai , delhi , Kolkata , Chennai and Bangalore are key points. So they are building WDFC and EDFC as 40% of freight movement goes through these corridors. There are DFC's proposed for south too. There are 4 more DFC's approved but we lack in funding.
      3. Land acquisition. Do you know how hectic it's for central government to acquire land bc of different parties in different states for instance Maharashtra , haven't acquired 100% land for bullet train. What do you expect?!? They won't give land for metro depot. The 2 DFC's are priority so they are being constructed. They are going to start east coast DFC in few years.
      4. Bullet train is needed bc even countries like Indonesia are constructing bullet train corridor than why not India being in top 5 economy.
      5. Pseudo Enviromenatalist. Today even if government try to chop a single tree then NGao's and Environmentalists will file PIL and there you go project has been halted for an year.

    But,Diesel engine se pollution hota hai,yeh bat sahi hai. Lekin electricity generation plant jo chalti hai, woh bhi pollution kuch kam nehi karte hai.
    Toh phir kya yeh baat sahi nehi hai ki Jitni jyada matra me hum log electricity ke upar me dependentho jayenge all routes electrified hone ke baad, pollution kaam ho jayega.
