Yes, we did put on a O2 Sensor Elbow on afterwards to remove the check engine light!

how soon after did u get the tune?
We got the tune about a month after installing the downpipe!

will he NEED a tune?
When doing the downpipe a tune is recommended, however its not needed the car will run just fine!
